    Instead of setting up the bug catching canopy may want to consider a tent that attaches to the back of the van. I bought a Napier vehicle tent a couple years ago, have a 2008 caravan. Works great. Can still have the security (had a bear incident last spring) of sleeping in the van. Plus a changing room and a room to set your potty. Have a four foot folding metal table and have cooked in the tent many times. Has lots of screened window area for ventilation. If you go this way highly recommend using a tarp under the tent. Get one large enough to have it extend out at the tent entry door (a porch if you will) for a place to take shoes off. Keep as much earth out of the tent as possible. I carry several inexpensive rugs. Makes the floor of the tent much more comfortable on bare feet. And perhaps the best part? If your significant other, for some unknown reason, is upset with you? You can sleep in the tent and they can sleep in the van. Recommend carrying an air mattress for such occasions. Other than that very nice build.

      Haha! Great tips. We've actually considered one of those back extender tents. We might just end up with one eventually. Thanks for watching!

    Suggestion: instead of a garbage bag to cover items in your basement storage.....use a puppy pad or put a cheap towel from the $ store on top of the bag to absorb any spills. 😊

    We have a similar set up. We love the camp chairs from harbor freight with the side table. These are very lightweight and comfortable. We stow them between the bed frame and sliding door on one side. Easy to get to. We also have the tri fold mattress. You can separate only one part between the threads without ripping the cover. It takes time and patience but will assist in using the platform for seating if you need.

    So far I’ve only bought one, but I’m happy with the kilos gear High back chair. I will buy another one once I have the money. As a Canadian, I paid about 160. Although it takes time to assemble and take down (similar to a tent), that is the cost of having a full feature chair with dual cupholders, and additional pocket, nice seating height, and a high back, that packs down to the size of a loaf of bread, or maybe 0 degree synthetic sleeping bag

    You guys! Your conversion is so close to what we're wanting to do with our Town and Country! We're planning on taking an East coast trip this fall for about a month. The trick is, we have a toddler and will need to use one of the back seats for her car seat everyday. If we could get that front third of the bed frame to fold up out of the way easier, we'd be in good shape! Do you have any ideas on how you would adjust that front third to make accessing the one seat easier?

    • @TheAdventureCloset

      Sorry we missed this as we've been out of cell range for the weekend. Hope that helps and that you have a trip of a lifetime making memories. Thanks for watching!

    Nice job! I am beginning to convert my Chrysler T&C. Coming from an EMS background it makes me shudder when I see builds that don't secure the furnishings in the event of a significant front end crash. Also, the propane is stored in the rear crumple zone area which is made to collapse in a rear end collision to disperse the energy of the impact. Otherwise this looks very well planned. Everyone is different and I am not criticizing. Just observations. Safe travels to you guys!!

    what size bed do you have in the Van?

    • @TheAdventureCloset
      @TheAdventureCloset  Рік тому +1

      It's a full size. We're not small people but it works since there's no risk of us falling off a side. Thanks for watching. We have some content coming up of a small suv we build out with the same size bed. Let me know if you'd like a link for the bed. We're on the road right now and I'd be happy to track that down for you.

    Charlie, you are very organized! Are you ex-military? You seem to get the very most of every square inch. I wonder what you two could do with a tiny house. heh I wish I had some amazing revelation for you to give you one square foot more room....it would be more valuable than any monetary donation. Maybe you could drag some kind of kite behind that could at least loft your toilet paper in the air behind Opal? p.s. sending you a recipe soon as soon as I can figure out how to do it. 8~)

    • @TheAdventureCloset
      @TheAdventureCloset  2 роки тому

      Haha! Nope, not ex military or a highly organized person. The small space just forces me to do better. Thinking about that kite idea. Heh heh. 🤔💭 When you send that recipe we'll film us making it in your honor. Our email is lizandcharlieduncan@gmail.com

    People making a living out of making UA-cam videos and sharing their lifestyle are really robbing themselves of their true talent they are born with. By looking at your van build, you have talents that even you don’t know about and the potential impact you could have on the society. You also have a great organizational skills. Hope this is just temporary gig and move onto something that you, your wife, friends, and family members can all be proud of.

      We don't have room for it elsewhere right now so we just don't ever have it filled all the way. Our plan is to buy a smaller tank to put in our topper. It's just spendy to do so.

    Nice build. I'm a bit late to the party here as usual. I made one like the Nick and Maela build. ua-cam.com/video/Eo9SWRazTlE/v-deo.html I made a video too. I found that making the plywood grain go spanwise is much stronger and it does not need a brace in the middle. This leave a lot more room for storage and is lighter. We are fairly heavy and have no problem so far in the few times we used it. We can fold the front of the bed back and still use the right Stow and Go seat for a passenger. The left seat was removed as well as the rear.
