- The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is angry, angular and absolute fun! Gavin tried hard to remain impartial in this review, but he soon gave up on neutrality because he just fell in love with everything about this remarkable car.
This electric machine is like 1996 Lara Croft on wheels, with acute angles, more power than an substation and about the same amount of technology as the Space Station. It's no surprise that Gavin took a shine to it!

Thinking of going electric but don't know where to start? Well, now that petrol's now touching $3 a litre, check out the EV Buyers' Guide to find an electric vehicle in your price range or with your desired range: buyersguide.ec...
And if you're keen on minimising your footprint on our planet's delicate ecosystem by driving guilt-free, why not switch to using 100% renewable electricity? With Ecotricity you can do that right now, as it's New Zealands only CarboNZero certified electricity provider: www.ecotricity.co.nz
Your excitement is infectious Gavin! Thanks for the awesome review!
Love the car and wanted it.
Everywhere I see a review I make the same comment…I wanted it, put my deposit down. Cancelled because Hyundai NZ are taking the pppp with the pricing.
Sooo expensive compared with overseas, by thousands of dollars cheaper than the EV6 everywhere in the world but more expensive here.
Great review as ever…
I want one!! There alot cheaper now. Even the odd second hand one. I drive the 64kwh kona for work. Dunedin to cromwell 50% charge with the heater going. Loooove it.
Awesome review, and the casually hilarious drop-in comedy is 100%. You sold me, looking to swap my MYP out for this gem.
Sorry to hear that. Ioniq 5 is nice but can’t hold MYPs beer
Great review of an amazing electric car, 200kw charging is very impressive too!
When will you get to test the 2023 version?
Hi, how wide is rear seat?
Nice intro.
Mega!
$112,000? That's more than twice what the top spec is in the US.
The limited in the US is listed at around 53k usd which is about 85k nzd. So not quite twice the price but Def bit cheaper over there.
