    I recently became an authorized C6 Ceramics installer and coated the new "spousal transportation unit" (a 2024 Lincoln Corsair) with C6 Hydro. The hydrophobic properties of the coating are amazing!

    Happy you enjoyed the application process. For future reference, we suggest using one short nap leveling towel, and a thicker towel for the insurance wipe. There’s no need to flip the towel. As soon as your finished soak the towel in your wash bucket for 15 mins. From their launder as normal. No need to throw them away.

    You brought up a great point about your applicator turning black after touching your window trim. This is why i always clean trim prior to a full paint correction, coating erc. Thst way if a pad, towel or applicator touches it, i dont end up with dirt messing up my work and contaminating other areas. Even with new cars ill go over trim with a crap towel and some diluted ipa

    Charizard card! Great job Jeff. It's nice to know it's as easy to apply as their other coatings.

    As far as the towels I do the Mike G method and number the corners 1-8. If I get distracted for any reason it's a quick reference where my level and buffing towel are. For what it's worth I prefer Autofiber towels to TRC. It's personal preference, but I feel they are softer.

      @improvedgarage  17 днів тому +1

      autofiber actually has a towel that is pre-numbered if you didnt already know. its called the quadrant wipe, and ive considered getting a bunch of them to try them out.

      @@wescat2it’s and effective and efficient method to mark your own towels that you already have. I did the same when I tested the house of rags leveling towels. It takes a minute or two to mark them up. Autofiber is a good option though.

    Sounds like you really enjoyed the process and were impressed with the whole application. Don’t sell yourself short, you definitely know what you’re doing! Looking forward to the long term updates!
    Now I just have to find me some to test out!! Lol

      I know you have Pans on your car. How would you compare that to Hyrdo Lite or Pro since they are so similar? I’ve decided I’m going to try another coating on one of our daily drivers in the spring. Trying to figure out which one. What would you suggest? I have Pan’s 8 year on my toy/garage queen.

      @ I’d put it right there with C6 lite or pro. Pretty solid and half the price the price.

    I don't need a " lifetime" coating (I'm quite certain I would need to polish and re-coat within a few years anyways) but I still wish C6/DIY would allow prosumers like ourselves to purchase this with a high spot waiver.
    "I understand that if I leave a high spot, I'm an idiot who will have to wetsand and polish the high spot off. If I complain about the coating online, I will be named and shamed for being a cotton-headed ninnymuggins."
    Or words to that effect. 🤣
    In all seriousness, DIY will sell me a polisher than can take the paint right off my car, but won't sell me a coating just due to high spot risks? It appears to me that with the use of APP, it's nearly impossible to leave a high spot with this coating. I suspect the real reason is that the installers want the protection of some exclusivity. Personally, I think that is nonsense.
    Guys like you and me are never going to take our cars to a detailer... regardless of what coating they offer. A detailer should have plenty of customers they can sell to without having to worry about a few DIY'ers.
    I really like the way that ADS does it, and Quartz Pro is a good coating for some climates, but I'm not sure it has enough flexibility and resistance to fracturing like we need here up north.

    This was very informative. Thanks for sharing. I was expecting it to be more challenging.
    I have a couple questions as I work up to doing my first coating. How was the battery life on the polisher? I have been look at that. Keav seems to like other products from SPTA.
    Would APP be good to use with any coating?

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  День тому

      yvan and nick seem to think that app is better than a normal panel prep, i think it could be used with others.
      I still havent run my first battery dead and i did the whole car, it definitely lasts longer than i needed.

    Completely useless video as C6 Hydro Pro is not available to consumers. Why demo a product that most of your viewer cannot purchase? Yvan, I thought this coating was so difficult to install and that's why you have C6 Hydro Lite. Nothing against you Jeff but to be considered a pro by Yvan you just need a UA-cam channel to pitch his product?

      Thanks for your concern. We decided to send Jeff C6 Ceramics Hydro because he tends to keep his vehicles longer.
      C6 Ceramics Hydro isn’t a difficult coating to apply, but if you get a high spot, that’s where the professional part comes in.

      @@diydetailofficial So how long you keep a vehicle is a deciding factor if you are a pro or not and can get Hydro? Then I am a pro as I owned my last vehicle for 21 years.
      To me a pro is someone who does detailing for a living, has a registered business name and all the required licenses and permits required for that business.
      So the only difference between most of Jeff viewers and himself is a UA-cam channel and that is why you sent it to him. You can't expect everyone to believe if Jeff did not have a UA-cam channel you would have sent it to him if he had contacted you and asked for it.
      This has nothing to do with Jeff, it's about a company calling a product they make a Pro only coating and then giving it to anyone with a UA-cam channel to pitch their products. If it was Hydro Lite, fine that's a coating anyone can get if they want it. I am guessing that over 80% of Jeff's viewers are non-pros and just enthusiasts that do not have access to this coating.

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  16 днів тому +2

      Sorry about that.
      I have a fair amount of viewers that detail on the side as part of their income and I was trying to show this for them. Yes you need to apply on their site to buy their pro coatings, you then have a consultation call to discuss the coating with you and then you buy a starter kit that includes a few of their items. The requirements for signing up are that you have a business license and insurance. Im pretty confident that i could get it without the youtube channel, i was able to do it with Armour and im working through it with waxedshine.
      I think the pro requirement stems from the concern that a high spot with this coating could require wetsanding to remove and that it cant just be polished off like most other coatings, i cant speak for him but im guessing that yvan was comfortable since he has seen me do coatings on camera before, and this was for my personal car so there was no "customer" involved.
      Overall im really happy with the coating and im bummed that not everyone can buy it, but i can see both sides of the argument. I would like to see more pro coatings be available to the prosumer market in general, the polishing is alot harder than the coating application is.
