Hi . I’m a newbie just brought a series 3 1962 . And loving it 😂 it’s been 95% restored and I’m enjoying finishing of the bits and bobs and fettling . Plus adding a bit of bling to make it mine. And I must say you vids are the best of the best 😊 . New to iPads as well so bear with me . But excellent 👍😎 .Martin

Thank you Martin , I try my best sometimes it's just finding time and inspiration to do it .
Creating interesting stuff when your limited to lambretta only is a challenge but it's more the cost of projects that's the problem.
I have plenty of things to have a go at like a twin engine I've had in mind, but lack of equipment and living in an area with no engineering shops around makes everything more difficult 😑 cheers.

    i use very similar steve.
i keep it in a zip lock bag in case it leaks. also one other thing is to make sure the plastic tolerates petroleum etc. some of the cheap bottles are made from recycled products.
great tip by the way, it saves so much flaffing about especially at a busy petrol station with impatient f.wits...
all the best and keep up the good work.

Done a similar thing with an old plastic Lucozade drink bottle and has a self sealing spout, perfect

I buy my bottles from 24 MX. They have the measurements for various ratios printed on which makes it handy for different top ends (3 & 4%) but they don't have a nozzle

I use a cheap funnel to stop the oil going everywhere on the tank on fill ups and also doubles for gearbox oil too.

Think it's a great idea, you just need to make sure the scale marked on is for when the bottle is inverted and not like a standard measure when it's sat on its Base.id suggest measuring out your first incrament, put it in the bottle and market it, the repeat with the next. The volume from the end of the spout to the line is correct rather than from the Base to the line above. Might not be a lot in it but over time if it's less oil than you thing it could be a problem. Great videos, enjoy your stuff a lot.

Good idea , i use a sip measure bottle whixh has a twist top and all the measures marked along the outside , its really easy to use and will not leak into your tool box . They are quite expensive tho for a plastic squeezy bottle , about £16 off ebay but they are very good and easy to use and hold 1lt of 2t .

@@TheSteelweasel its for the rallys normaly mate , i take a full sip bottle and another ltr to top up with for on the way back , better than a messy jug lol

Pointless on a tour when you need to carry 6 or 7 litres of oil. Standard 2% jug is all that's needed whether your mixing at 2, 3 or 4%... 5 litres of fuel is 1 jug at 2%, 1.5 jugs at 3% and 2 jugs at 4%.
      Its not rocket science ffs.
For those that find it difficult to work out how much oil to add there is this handy online calculator I made for you. ;)

In hydro we use these measuring/dosing bottles, you squeeze it through into the dosing section and pours easily with no overdose....link below.

Hi I got a question for you please, this: for lambretta 150 normal cilinder all original, we need 2% joint of oil, according the indication of Innocenti, but today with high performing oil, I tested a joint of 1.5% only, without any problem. Do you thing 1% is too low, for original engine? Nowday respect 1965 the lubrification oil is much better. I will appreciate you opinion.

    • @TheSteelweasel
      @TheSteelweasel  Рік тому +1

No dont do that use 3% always you loose power with less oil and risk damage . Use 3% as the fuel has no lead and also has ethanol . Dont use 2 % ever and 1% is a dead motor .

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t these things want a decent amount of oil? Like they need a lot of “help,” especially if warmed over or used hard?
