Female viewer here...I agree 100%. I ALWAYS carry a notebook with me and consistently take notes. I usually get laughed at for it...but I want to be prepared.

Totally agree with doing research and looking things up before I ask someone. Thanks for providing some great videos to help me out too!

As Director of Clinical Engineering, and having worked in this field for 34 years, I agree with Justin... that his stats are low. Sorry Justin 😜. Over the past decade I have expanded my hospital systems biomed team from 100% male to 50% female all while trippling the size of the team. The diversity of backgrounds, skills and experience allows the team to excell. Everyone is continually learning, sharing and bringing new solutions.

I always take notes just because I might forget what customer says. And I hardly ask questions with men. There are a lot of false stereo types about how both male / female work. Its best to treat each male / female as an individual the stereo types are not true.

Is there a way to break into the industry while still active duty? Retire in 2025, what courses or certs should I be focusing on?

Yes, the military has a program whereby in your last year of service you can partner with a local hospital/medical equipment repair company through a government program. At the end of that year and you retire, the hope would be that you had attained enough fundamental experience along with your service experience to either fulfill that role in that company or gain you enough knowledge and experience to seek employment elsewhere. If you are already a trained biomed with any of the services, you should not have any trouble transitioning to private industry. As a matter of fact, you'll be highly sought after.

You can become a Biomedical Equipment Technician in the military. They send you to school for 11 months or so and you will get snapped up for a job when you go back to civilian life.

Wash your "Kilen Tools" bag. Don't keep your tools dirty.

That is my backup multimeter for this work bench, which is in my garage. I have the bag to keep the meter clean. My tools, which enter hospitals, are beautiful. Thank you for your concern about my garage tools.
