Just to clarify, the Bible doesn’t condone beating children or demanding respect in the way these parents did. Yes honoring your parents is important but that command isn’t an excuse to treat your kids like garbage because that is not what the Bible asks of parents. Parents treat their kids like crap because they want to or somehow don’t know any better unfortunately, probably because they were raised under the same parental tyranny.

In my native language(Hindi, at least where I come from) there are 2 pronouns for you, casual and more respectful, the same goes for the word yes. I was always told strictly to use and say respectful words but my parents always replied the same way. To this date the have never used the other version of you with me and nor have I with them but it doesn't feel forced.

I ❤ this makeup look so much. I know it’s neutral look, but most if the time those are the prettiest. This is one where it’s a beautiful makeup look on its own, but where it shines is that is just gives you a natural glow; you just happen to be wearing makeup instead of the makeup taking over your face. My favorite shadow that gives me a much simpler, but the same vibe is just simply wearing the Sydney Grace Cream Shadow in Starstruck on the lid & blended into the crease. Even though it’s got lots of sparkly mica, it’s still just looks naturally glowy with the shadow blended into the crease, but I have blended a nice brown shadow, San Diego or Toffee, in the crease & use Dark Chocolate shadow as an eye liner & a touch in the outer V. I’ll definitely be back another day to try this look.

Bc, it’s easier to teach something you practice yourself in front of the person you’re teaching. I don’t really force my kids to say it to me, but bc I say it to them it’s how they respond to me. I actually think that making kids use honorifics when most of their society doesn’t (not in the majority of the US) only reinforces the teaching that they also must do whatever they are told by an authority figure. That can make kids *so* much more vulnerable to abuse. I’d rather a kid call me by my name, personally. Unless they’re family or close enough friends to be family. Using Aunt/Aunty/Uncle at least implies some accountability from the adult.

Thing tend to be a little bit stricter as a military offspring. When i was young we had it drilled into our heads not to walk on the grass because it was first sargents grass and our dad could get into big trouble. I am now going through some issues because my college bio teacher has told us to call her by her name. l Because of the way i was raised cant without it feeling impolite and she and my lab partner have started joking about it. My parter makes me be the one to call the teacher over if we need her higjpy encouraging me to just call her by her name.

I actually like calling everyone "miss/sir", but maybe in my language, it sounds better. Never will be doing that under the pressure, though.

My childhood was super confusing because my parents were divorced but both of them are very religious in their own right so I have a lot of like mixed religious backgrounds anyways on my dad's side of the family it was yes ma'am yes sir and even with my mom's parents we would say yes ma'am yes sir but my mom freaked out and would like beat us if we called her ma'am, but she was a real witch after all. 🙄 here is a short list of all the religious beliefs in my family, Christians, Baptists, Pentecostal young earth/flat Earth Christians, Jewish, Catholic and new-age Christian witches. which has never made sense to me. you can't be both😂. And then there is Wicca, dark magic and Jesuits.
After everything ive experienced, i just cling to Jesus. He gives us free will to love him and choose him. Jesus never forced himself on me. He was just always there. Like the perfect gentleman, helping me along the way until i chose him. I do feel like it is important to understand all religons so you can understand your own faith and relationship to God, but you should never force anyone. Just pray for people and love each other. That is what we are called to do.
