I haven't tried Basmati rice in the IP, but I've been doing Jasmine rice a long time and I follow this ratio: 2 cups rice rinsed to 2/12 cups water. I add Redmond's salt because I think it's better to infuse it in as it cooks. I only pressure cook for 1 minute with a 10 min natural release and it has come out perfect every single time.

Hi Lisa, I live off grid and water is a precious commodity. I put a small amount of water in a bowl, only enough to cover rice and then clean with my hand for several minutes. I pour out cloudy water then cook. I’ve had no problems using this method. But yours is my go to cooking method. Thanks for your great and very helpful channel.

I prefer the white Basmati rice and rinse it first. I prefer it b/c it is not sticky. I recently stared making it in my Instant Pot and really prefer it that way. One thing I also like is to saute about a 1/2 cup of chopped onion in a little butter then add my rice, water and/or chicken stock and salt before cooking.

I live in southeast Texas which has a heavy Cajun influence in cooking and my wife is Korean. So we are part of two cultures that eat rice almost daily.
My wife always rinses her rice 3 times by her custom and I usually rinse at least a couple of times, on occasion not at all.... unless she is watching.
We sometimes go a little above 1 1/4 to about 1 1/2 cups of water per cup of rice, mostly according to how fresh/dry the rice is. We usually buy by the 25 pound sack so we might add that slightly more water near the end of it.
