Great! Great! Great! Interview! Yes! These guys are the real deal and they deserve all the praise and admiration they worked so hard for many years! I love the band and the performance staying true to the records they created with Tommy! Great work Tom Meros! Thanks so much! Richie Grasso (co-writer of "Sweet Cherry Wine")
I sure enjoyed this interview! Tommy James and the Shondells are top notch. I am having fun catching up with the history and music that I really missed being born in 57. Awesome Band and guys !!!!
One of my favorite 60s music groups I also grew up with listening too. Saw, Tommy James as part of the first Oldies concert when a formally owned Disney radio station in Denver (CO) were a 1950s~70s music format. KXKL (KOOL) 105.1, celebrated it's first year on the air in 1988. A 5 act KOOL Koncert was the next to last venue at our original Mile High Stadium, before they torn it down for the new one built next door, now having through different names since. I then saw him on a New Years Eve TV Special, in CA. Which included Dion.
Jan 1969, I was still in my mothers womb that day, for another couple of months...must have been highly influenced cause I still love this group.... I remember listening to a lot of their songs on 45's in the tv stereo cabinet in the 70's after moving to Michigan at 4.yrs old :)
GREAT INTERVIEW! I've recorded some in the 90's. These guys were tight and are about what real-true talent is and was about. Thanks for your time and music .
RIP Pete Lucia! So sad he couldn't be with them for this. I met Pete a few times, he was the cousin of one of my friends. Whenever someone meets a famous person they always comment how normal, down-to-earth, natural, etc., they seemed but Pete truly was as unpretentious as a person could be. One night in late 1969, my friend took me to his aunt's house (Pete's mother) in Morristown, NJ. We were having a conversation about music and Pete put the new King Crimson album on, he was so impressed with Michael Giles, he was getting into describing the difficult aspects of the drumming. Whether it was going to see him at his apartment in Manhattan or bumping into him at a Jethro Tull concert in NJ, Pete was the same, a regular guy who happened to be a great drummer in a famous band!
I had the honor of meeting Tommy James and the Shondells after their concert in Peoria Illinois . They were very down to earth and Tommy made me feel like an old friend . I love their music and will always remember our encounter . Thanks for the music !
Great interview about these very good musicians and writers. The records they did are still excellent ...Mirage, Think We're Alone Now, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Crimson and Clover...solid pop psychedelic, on par with anything out of England or LA. Glad the conversation never went into the way Roulette records never paid any of its artists. Tommy James has currently written that the label was a front for the Genovese crime family.
I think it's awesome that the men who performed with Tommy as The Shondells continue to play the music that they played on all those years ago, but I'm curious - what does Tommy think of it?
What a treat! Thanks guys for this music. Why in God's name isn't Tommy performing with the Shondells It doesn't get any better than this even after all these years. The only thing missing musically is the sound of a Fender amp with tremelo!
Chrystal Blue Persuasion helped me through basic training at Fort Knox and infantry training at Fort Polk in 1969. I was thrilled to hear in in the Breaking Bad series. So Appropriate!
Interesting interview, really enjoyed it. So love that you filmed segments of the performance, for these gentlemen are in fine voice....they sound fab!!!
Because the name is owned by Tommy James, it’s a shame that he has been touring for over 50 years as TJ and the Shondells with a bunch of sub par hired guns, however he’s been recording as a solo artist since 1971, what he should have done was sell/give the name to the four guys that helped create the music.
Your hometown of Niles, Michigan will always leave a door open for you Tommy!

You guy are still great. Don’t ever stop, keep us forever young. You guys were me and my wife’s favorite music, and still is. I love you!

Top 40 AM radio 📻.. heard everywhere.. from transistor radio to car radio.. great music 🎶
I could not imagine my youth growing up in the 60s without TJ&S.

Still Listening After All These Years
Many thanks Tom for the interview with the heroes of my youth. I love their music until today.

I love that you guys are so down to earth. You're awesome and you still sound amazing!
I still tune into ‘60’s on 6 on SiriusXM an relive my third-into-fourth grade school days every time I hear this song.
Great interview about these very good musicians and writers. The records they did are still excellent ...Mirage, Think We're Alone Now, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Crimson and Clover...solid pop psychedelic, on par with anything out of England or LA.

EUROSTAR NAMASTAR Why / How could the band members perform and not get paid for so long?
Cool :) it's great to finally see Mike Vale, Ed Gray, Ron Rosman all together confirming their versions of the creation of TJ & T S's in 1960s.
I think it's awesome that the men who performed with Tommy as The Shondells continue to play the music that they played on all those years ago, but I'm curious - what does Tommy think of it?
Tight sounds of the original Shondells. I can see Pete Lucia smiling in Paradise and air drumming
Wonderful!
What a great band, then and now. And these four old dudes have aged pretty well.

I could not get enough of their music back then. Learned to play several of the songs. Nice to see these guys as I had not seen them since 1970.
What a treat! Thanks guys for this music. Why in God's name isn't Tommy performing with the Shondells

Mony mony first disco song before disco was invented love that song
This is a great interesting interview. Thank you for sharing. I've subscribe !!!

Great video. Very interesting. Good job!
They played at the Roof Garden in wheeling WV around 73 ish I'm thinking.
good to see you claron!!
JONAH JONAH by APOLOGETIX a great parody of a TJ song
My hometown pittsburgh pa
Hanky Panky broke in pittsburgh and TJ threw together a band from there. or so I read.
They're the Shondells, I wonder why they can't use that name for the current group?

Great interview with band and sing insight. But no real insight to their thoughts on Tommy. At what point did they recognize his talent or genius?
Crystal Blue Band? It's Tommy James and The Shondells.
Crimson and Clova ! Ova and ova
Tommy looks like Roger Daltrey here!
I can't understand why Tommy James isn't performing with The Shondells. It just doesn't seem right.
