Why can’t you just make a natural gas version of your product like Weber does?
Stop being a ninnie... figure it out and please stop whining...
For those customers who value their personal time, I am with you… they should make an NG version. I changed 8 orifices on a huge weber some time ago , this video confirms its nearly the same steps as a weber genesis LP grill, I would pay the extra for an NG model.
@@c3dmf4s I agree with @robhaynes6173. I bought a natural gas Weber grill 20 years ago and I was given the option of buying either propane or natural gas at the time. It may have cost me more money to purchase (I don't remember now) but it sure was a much simpler process.
Hey Blackstone, FYI, the thread sealer you use in this video is only rated to a working temp of 125 degrees and your manual says it must be at least 400 degrees i.e. permatex 59214 or loctite 567..
To anyone who is on the fence about this kit and wondering if it gets hot enough, I can assure you that it does indeed. Every bit as good as using propane if not better. Without the hassle.
Very easy to do but I find out to take the original orifices from the griddle was very hard because of the sealant they used. Two recommendations: First make sure is not to cold outside when you are trying to take them out the orifices will snap. Second if the orifices are stuck do not try harder, they will break. I put a small paper towel around the orifice and spray a little bit of wd40 on the paper (not the valve) left for a few minutes and no issues to take them out. Now is all done and it works great! Good luck!
The Omnivore griddle top uses a newer kit 5395 with 1.55mm orifices. The older legacy griddle top uses the older kit 5249 with 2.0mm orifices. This is not a well known fact and many of the older kits are out there being sold and installed into new Omnivore versions.
Was just coming here to post the same thing. Watched the video and use the 2.0mm orifices. Shame on me for not reading the updated instructions that do tell you to use the 1.55mm ones with the Omni top.
If you buy from blackstone instead of Amazon there will be no mistake since they are different threads and instructions that tell you so.
Super easy install. The flames look better with natural gas then when I was running propane!
***VERY IMPORTANT***
*2 THINGS*
1. Use a 7mm socket instead of the provided tool. The tool has been known to round off the corners on the installed orifices when trying to remove. THAT WILL BE A NIGHTMARE.
2. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. I know the video has that, but it's worth repeating.
I've read MANY people that overtightened.
*GOOD LUCK*
It's worth the installation.
No more propane hassles!
Doing the lords work!
The provided tool is a piece of junk. My grill came pre assembled from a big box store and the guy/gal who put it together went to town on these nuts
hello. Does the kit also work for the 28-inch Blackstone?
Looking to purchase a large griddle and have been looking for one that is natural gas compatible and not propane. And I see there is a kit to convert the Blackstone one....I appreciate that but wouldn't it just be easier manufacturing the same products that can do natural gas out of the box? So strange.
Easier for Blackstone? No. A small minority of griddlers use natural gas. Mfg'ing and having to have retailers stock another griddle that they're not going to sell a lot of is more of a hassle than manufacturing and stocking kits for conversion.
My propane orifices are labelled 1.08. Are the blackstone NG orifices the equivalent conversion for it?
I did this, when I turn the grill on high. It’s super loud and the flame is only by the igniter. When on low it goes down the whole burner.
Mine also makes that loud noise I take it from the gas line coming in. Also when on Low it does stop the burner as if not enough pressure for the gas to come out and start lit. As far as turning on, mine does turn ion normally in sequence without holding down the igniter. Perhaps this is how it works when using Natural Gas and the pressure is already low.
This video and instructions from the site does NOT say what size and type of thread is needed for the gas supply. Do i need a 3/8" npt thread or a 3/8 jic thread?
Can this natural gas conversion kit work on the 22 inch pizza oven???
Love the music!
I have the model 1934 from Lowe's and understand they do not recommend conversion to natural gas. Anyone know why this shouldn't or cannot be done? Doesn't make sense without explanation.
In the Q&A section for the 1934 on the Lowes website, someone asked the question, “Can this grill be converted to natural gas?”
Blackstone responded with the following:
Yes. Using kit 5249 but you will need a different wrench. An adjustable wrench as the orifices in this unit are much shorter. The kit was designed several years prior to this unit was produced.
Best accessory yet!
I just made the conversion but my griddle doesn’t light any longer. I don’t hear the clicking sound when trying to light. Is that normal?
No it's not. You should double check the connection and how far the igniter is from the burner
How do you do it with the air fryer burners?
Yes to making the gas jets orifice size larger or smaller for LP or NG. Goes further to the regulator diaphragm and the spring tension. LP being 11-14 inch water column with NG being 7-10 inch water column. So I see in your conversion kit from LP to NG 'which I want to convert, how does the regulator come into play. My thinking is you need a NG regulator which is not mentioned or addressed or included in your kit. If you leave the LP regulator which has a higher tension spring on the diaphragm, then you will get less NG. NG lower pressure, lower tension on the diaphragm spring for more NG to burn. Things to consider as it's not just putting in new jets to rock and roll unlimited gas. Please advise.
They sized the orifices for natural gas regulator at 7in w.c. so for proper conversion make sure your house regulator at your gas meter is t at 7in w.c
I’m guessing the kit doesnt come with the thread sealant ?
No, it doesn't come with it. The recommended high heat sealant (Permatex 59214 or Loctite 567) is pricey. I like Loctite so I went with that.
If you buy the 6 ml tube ($13), you're paying $64/oz. If you buy the 50 ml tube ($20) you're paying $12/oz.
just bought black stone grill 22 inches. con to gas please help
can’t find a kit for national gas blackstone 22in.
I'm curious, Ive converted a weber gas grill with the same type of kit and it came with a natural gas regulator. I bought this kit for my griddle but it doesnt have a regulator with it, does it need a to work properly?
That would be the brass bolts with the different sized orifices job I believe
Can I still use propane in addition to natural gas after converting?
Where do I buy the new orifices ?
So I bought the 2019 version kit. Can I just buy two 1.39’s for my side burners? Or do I need to get this whole 2020 kit?
Will this work on the normal flat top griddles?
One of propane orifice head is broken when I removed the burner tubes. Now the screw is stuck inside. I don’t want to take it back to Costco. But is there a solution in getting that screw out?
This just happened to me as well. How was it resolved?
I just picked one up at my local walmart for $8 on clearance for my griddle. Will this conversion kit also work for my bbq (different brand)?
Is this going to be available for the latest and greatest Blackstone Air fryer combo?
Do you use the same conversation kit?
Same question
Wondering the same thing...
same
No it will not
The Blackstone website says "The Blackstone Natural Gas Conversion Kit is not optimized for the Blackstone AirFryer Griddle Combo". Does anyone know what makes it "not optimized"? I'm assuming you can still use it because they don't say it is "not compatible" (in bold font) like they do when mentioning the Culinary series. I'm just curious what issues you might run into if trying to use this conversion kit with the AirFryer Griddle Combo.
After researching more on the Blackstone website I found a post from 5 months ago where they said "Please be aware that the kit is not optimized for our propane AirFryer griddles. Because they require a larger amount of propane than our other products, natural gas isn’t able to provide a high enough pressure to efficiently run the air fryers and griddle, which can result in longer cook-times and cooler temperatures." .... So now my question is, if I only tried to use either the Griddle OR the AirFryer function alone (never at the same time) would the gas pressure still be too low and cause issues?
@@jharlow84 did you ever find an answer for this I am trying to make my blackstone into natural gas conversion kit but I haven't done it yet it includes the airfryer combo
As stated earlier, why, why, why don’t you just offer natural gas ready for sale?
is it also applied for new 22" model ?
Can't get burners removed on 22"
Dont you need regulator too?
Natural gas is at low pressure already (once it goes past the meter outside your house). I believe its less than 2 psi. So, no, no regulator should be needed.
Most kits come with a regulator attached to the hose, yes you definitely need a regulator.
@@STEVEM730 most kits do not come with a regulator? I'm changing mine soon. Does it need one?
It doesn’t need a regulator?
Residential natural gas pressures are incredibly low.
So I overtightened the new orifice and the head broke off. What can I do to get it out?
This just happened to us. What did you figure out?
@@kaykay4ever705 I figured out that at the time it was very difficult to find replacement parts. I did however take it apart and put it in a vice and using precision tools eventually was able to remove the parts that were broken off inside.
Conversion kit blackstone griddle 22”
how do i buy this when im from canada and you dont ship to canada
I just picked mine up at Princess Auto. I know weird, but they had a whole section of Blackstone products..this included. Great price too.

Amazon
Does this kit work for the 17” grill?
What's with the "stress" music? As if this isn't stressful enough lol.
Your are so right. This sounds like a song that you would hear during an escape scene in a movie.
Hahahaha!!!
It's about a to blow! Yeah that music is terrible.
That looks so easy. Jk. Propane tank it is for me.
Why would anyone ever use a propane tank if they have natural gas readily available??
1980s prn music. 😂
Spelling....on splash text!
why they would not provide natural gas capability is beyond me. Literally the stupidest decision.

Will this work on a Members Mark griddle?
