  • The Disney parks are famous for their entertainment and shows, and there are a lot of great ones. And a few that are not so great. These are 7 of the best, and 5 of the worst, shows at the Disney parks that I've seen.
A behind the scenes look at what a former worker at Disney World, Silver Dollar City, and Busch Gardens Florida experienced in his time working at the parks. From driving large safari trucks around live wild animals while cracking one silly joke after another, to spending 5 years as a #PhotoPass photographer at #WaltDisneyWorld and seeing and experiencing all sorts of things, to being a conductor and #trainrobber on the famous Frisco Silver Dollar Line at #SilverDollarCity. With 10 years of working in the parks, there's lots of stories to tell. Here is some of them...
Not only did I work in theme parks for 10 years, I've visited a whole lot of them as well. Here's some stories of great visits, not so great visits, favorites, reviews, and much more.

My heart hurts since I missed Phantasmic in my visit. So much to do in HS that it just slipped my mind the whole day.
But youre other list is preatty much spot on even thou I can argue about The Festival Of The Lion King being my favorite.
So favs and no favs favs plus some reasons:
    Favs:
1: The Festival Of The Lion King. (It reminded me off how Cats originally was when we sat in 360 setting and those costumes is simply wow!)
2: Finding Nemo The Musical. (Those puppeteers make wonders and make me want to see Avenue Q even more)
3: Frozen Sing A Long Show. (Those storytellers where hilarious and I loved everything but I wish Anna and Elsa would have been there more, then it would be top.)
4: Enchanted tales with Snow White. (Was a great little show and I would love it more if I was not so jet laged that day. A great way to meet a princess if youre not doing dinner shows.)
    No favs:
1: Beauty and the Beast: (Wonderful actors but those costumes are so, so, so dated. Put the large theatre to a better use - Maybe a longer show?)
2: Indiana Jones A stunt specular. (It was a fun nostalgia trip to see it again but its not what the park is anymore - As in B and B its time to put the space to better use.)
As I said there is probebly a couple of more I could have seen and loved if I got the time and was not so lagged and there is a couple of the rides that maybe goes as show - Like the Little Mermaid ride at MK. Johan.

"Favorites"? I'm going to quote Tom's first message at NH and ask: Who are you?
Thanks for the shout out / warning about singing. ;)
I'd say Fantasmic, Nemo, and Aladdin are my 3 favorites in that order.
I agree that Jones and Mermaid were great in their time but struggle for fit and tech now.

If your ever out in Southern California during the summer time and you want to see a REALLY cool show go to the festival of arts in Laguna Beach they have a show called The Pageant of the Masters it's an excellent show where volunteers get dressed up and hold still for about 90 seconds and create really cool historical paintings and it's AMAZING it also has excellent music I think you'd LOVE it George

I have never been a show fan in theme parks unless its for a special event. Like HallowScream at BG or Christmas Town. That being said I do really enjoy the Voyage of the Little Mermaid but I think that is because Ariel was my first love haha. Fantasmic is just amazing and I praying one day they make a Murphy for the Florida version!

I love all the big shows (I.E. Fantasmic, Nemo, Happily Ever After) but a part of me wishes the small street shows got more recognition. Shows like Epcot's old street performers, the performers at Boardwalk Resort, & that FANTASTIC band in Harambe at Animal Kingdom. I guess most folks tend to prefer the massive productions but the small shows play a huge part in the overall experience as well.

I pretty much agree with your judgement. Question: Did you ever see TARZAN ROCKS? It was where Nemo is now. This show had great music, actors, and acrobats. A very high energy production telling the story of Tarzan. Really dissapointed when it got replaced. Also, another show that was not a regular, but a special one nighter, I saw on UTUBE. It was a production where they combined Star Wars & Indiana Jones in the Indy show building. It was FUN to watch. George Lucas attended.

It's hard to say if that's a temporary thing because of the covid changes (they were equity union members, and almost all of those entertainers aren't working at the moment, including performers in other shows) or if it's permanent. It's likely going to be a while yet before we find out.

If parades count, my absolute favorite is the Main Street Electrical Parade (Disneyland). To me, this was better than any theater show at Disneyland or California Adventure (I've never been to WDW at all). Other than that, Fantasmic is good, and I like the nostalgia of World of Color. The Paint the Night parade is a favorite of my wife, but I found it disappointing, except from a technical perspective. I hope things are going better for you now.

I can only talk about shows at WDW. The first show I was in love with was the 1985 Kids of the Kingdom show on the stage in front of the castle. I really love the Finding Nemo show, I think it's my favorite show ever. I also really loved The Hunchback of Notre Dame show when they had it, I was so disappointed when that one left. I like the Little Mermaid show a lot too. My least favorites are Lights Motor Action and Indiana Jones. I also really disliked the show that was on the castle stage for what seemed like years, something about Mickey's Dream. I was also not crazy about the Frozen singalong show. I enjoyed the original show in that theater where people went up and recreated scenes from classic TV shows. My son got to be Gilligan. Oh how I wish I had video of that! He was so cute. My favorite show of all time if you can call it a show is the Christmas show at EPCOT of course. Even though it's not a singalong I can't help but sing along lol. It is such a beautiful program with a famous actor reading the story of Jesus' birth from the Bible and the huge choir singing carols behind them. I get shivers down my back when they sing The Hallelujah Chorus, I always loved it when we sang it in my church choirs. I don't lump in in with the other shows, but it is just my favorite part of being in WDW during the holiday season.

I think Voyage of the Little Mermaid needs to go. It is so outdated. But I love Beauty and the Beast stage show and Indiana Jones Stunt Show. I think the reason I love the Indiana Jones show is because it brings back memories of when the park was Disney MGM Studios. But my all time favorite show was Tarzan Rocks. I loved that show.

Also! How do you feel about Snig & Oopla’s Star Wars Hoopla? (Is that what it was called?)
I’ve only ever seen em online and they’re obviously discontinued, but I loooved those ones to bits!
Honestly puts a smile on my face when the Wiggles sing “Point Your Fingers” and “Dance with Wags the Dog.” 🐶

Sorry, I side with your wife and daughter.
I'll pass on frozen any day, but never Beauty and the Beast..... Sorry, brother. I think the aging on it works for me, though it could be updated a bit....
I never saw the nemo show, but I did get to see something similar on ice some years back. You really do stop seeing the performers, and only see the characters!
Festival of the Lion king was my favorite. Even if I've only seen it twice
Never saw the littlemmermaid show either, but I do appreciate tyenpuppets against the black screen. Reminds me of old Jim Henson tricks..
The genie from alladin was always PERFECT. Every time.
It was a very faithful quick version of Aladdin. I loved when the Genie messed with Jafar, and he just had to stand there and take it until he was done.
I agree with your #1. Also love the Halloween shows. I go between those as my top so I add them all....
Fantasmic and Happily Ever After always manages to get me right in the feels. I feel it was a worthy successor to Wishes. Even if I have only seen it through videos here

I miss Lights, Motor, Action at Hollywood Studios. I get that they needed more room for Galaxy"s Edge. But still...😔 I like the Indiana Jones stunt show because it has action in it, and the show is aimed more at older audiences, which I like. Fantasmic is a great show, but both the DisneyLand version and the Hollywood Studios version could use a bit of an update. Don't get me wrong. Fantasmic is still a great show. But I think it's due for an update. I know Star Tours is a ride, not a show, but I think that attraction is past its prime and can go away. Maybe replace Star Tours with a Darth Maul meet-and-greet (when it’s safe to do so) or even just another restaurant or Dole Whip stand.

I'm one of the persons that dislikes Fantasmic. I've seen the DHS version 2 or 3 times and really didn't like it. It is the imagination/dream of Mickey and I feel it is almost exactly how you describe the Star Wars show; a parade of characters with no storyline. It features a lot of characters, without a reason; it features water screens with movie snippets, without a reason; It feature some boats with characters that aren't announced or woven into a story, there are just boats there out of the blue without a reason.
I really don't like it. I would describe it as a lame parade.
