Gen 9 UU player here! Latias is currently UUBL, however many (including me) disagree. Latias, Blaze, and Iron hands all got banned at the same time, and even back then you could argue it was only iron hands that was truly broken. In the current meta Latias would probably be nowhere near close to broken and could safely be unbanned. Latios is an excellent Pokémon, and was top 1-3. It’s got so many good sets like choiced, cm, even LO with recover is a pain for fat teams. The council put out a poll to determine whether latios or garchomp should be suspected first and chomp won it, which lead to its ban. However latios still had enough votes to earn its own suspect test. However this was disrupted when iron boulder dropped to UU, which has hurt latios’s place in the meta (and may just be straight up broken) Now, the interesting part is in the event of a latios ban, the council is willing to unban Latias to fulfill latios’s positive defensive traits. Whether this happens remains to be seen but it’s a pretty cool thought
@@williamjewell6247 if you're curious why its because Latias was banned for its CM cheese sets, which Latios can't replicate as well because of it's worse bulk and not having access to draining kiss.
My favorite thing about the Latitwins is that as the generations go on Latias gets progressively better than Latios despite Latios getting a bunch more and more offensive moves.
gastly was banned in gen 8 lc and many people want to suspect it in gen 9 lc because it's too strong ever since they removed pursuit and it was never thought of as a broken mon before pursuit, not even in dpp
I’ve tried cooking w/ haunter in SV. Prob like the 6th best nfe. Chansey, bisharp, primeape, duraladon, dusklops, yup haunter. And he’s the only guy who wouldn’t be usin evio lite. Maybe dura. Choice, trick, dbond, hex for glisc, pain split? Wisp?
I've loved the Lati twins in gens 6 and 8, but in gen 9 I think it's really just because you're usually running pokemon that can easily resist or negate draco's, like iron valiant or gholdengo, and then trade, and usually you can't outspeed an iron valiant even with scarf
Sorry, I should also mention, Iron Valiant runs booster energy as an item, which is consumed on switch in for a 1.5x boost to your highest stat. So trick is like, "sure buddy"
I’d like to see BKC spend extensive time malding between scar vio OU, nat dex OU. Scar vio: no sleep, no Archaladon, there’s Ghold, pult, king gambit Nat dex: everyone gets their moveset back. Arch, and water urshifu are legal but other 3 got clapped. Megas, Z, very much easier to choose terra between up to 4, and not 6. Like the reverse of why I don like vgc. Just pick 1 team of 6, for 1 guy.
The reason why no one uses Specs Future Sight Latios seems to be fairly straightforward: Tapu Lele exists. Its own Future Sights become even stronger due to the Psychic Terrain it sets up for itself. And if one isn't planning to use such a Latios set, they might be better off just using Dragapult instead, who is faster and has a much more spammable Ghost STAB (as opposed to Psychic). -definitely didn't steal this info from FSG's Latios vid xd-
Well the problem with future sight is that it doesn't get a specs boost unless a mon with specs is on the field when it hits. So specs latios won't get boosted damage unless it comes out at the right time. You can exploit this though by having glowking use future sight and then switch to a specs keldeo or something to threaten out any dark or steel types and boost the power of the future sight.
can you do a video on Groudon/Kyogre's team structures across the gens, or interesting quirks of building with them? It's neat in gen 3 ubers that you can throw Sun on a rain team to have a Thunder pivot, etc. I'm also curious how old SpDef Groudon is, seems like that's a relatively newer development? Happy to hear your thoughts and if I'm completely wrong
I really like pursuit. It's a unique move that has been a heathy addition to many generations of Pokémon. Besides maybe magnet pull, I think pursuit is the most balanced trapping mechanic. But I'm very biased because my favorite Pokémon abuse pursuit.
Limited trapping is fairly healthy for singles imo. Like if Arena trap only trapped Rock and Steel types, or Shadow tag only trapped Ghost and Dark types, they would be fine.
in gen 8 latios get revenge killed too easily to make it worth using. its defensive value is also a lot lower than past gens. latias has similar issues

For latios it’s choice, LO. 1 UU Mon I’m liking in OU rn is greninja. Get your kill and you get to join the ranks of the top of speed, otherwise, your still faster than pult w/ modest. Ur outspeeding Eleki if ur Timmy. Smokin on that DeoS pack. Spend the terra dark, ur now smackin harder than SM Ash gren ever could, w/o a z move ofc, but what’s 1 turn vs more dark pulses. And I thought meow was the only trick spikes guy. But nah gren can too.

A lot of the balance decisions are made for in game, but like, a lot of them don't affect in game at all. Then some must be for VGC... but the recovery nerf this gen clearly wasn't for VGC and I don't think it was in game either. Really weird game.
Ttar (with the sand boost) would be a great psychic answer if pursuit wasnt around or even specal. There are no pokemon that love to switch into Stone Edge. I really love how they made more and better setup mons and moves and then they made a mechanic that gives free setup and or every pokemon perfect coverage. The coverage thing annoys me. you can feel the power creep more when there is no real tradeoff between power and coverage anymore.
It definitely nerfed Psychic-types pretty badly when they were already a mediocre type to begin with, but you can REALLY feel the lack of Pursuit with Ghost-types being so damn OP now. Removing Pursuit while also buffing one of the best types in the game and then not introducing more counter play to balance out the removal of Pursuit was wack. Ghosts are basically the new Dragon.
