Making a Leather Watch Pad with Tool Storage
Our friends at Case and Dial (@CaseandDial on instagram) asked us to make this cool little watch strap changing station for them, and we were happy to take on the job! this is a simple but really, really fun project that pairs nicely with last week's video. In this project we show you how to do a lined mat the right way, and I make a little insert to hold spring bars and a spring bar tool that us ultra simple but super effective! Lots of skiving tips in this one as well. Happy crafting!

Seiko is the best bang for your buck in the watch world. I own several Seiko 5 watches. Glad to see another watch enthusiast amongst the leather community.
The secondhand joy I felt when you dropped the spring bar and tool into the slot
I really love that pad. Never even thought of something like that! Bet it could double as a mouse pad too but for watch aficionados! And I agree changing straps is the funnest part of owning a watch
14:42 bless you
Love the pad, great work!
Nice little mat. I do my own maintenance on my watches and you gave me a really good idea for making a nice mat to place my watches and parts. After losing a dozen or so spring bars, I started using a magnetic dish to store my watch parts while I finished changing the battery and cleaning the inside of the watch and working parts.
Cool sneeze!!
Great idea. Love it😍🙋🏻♀️
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas…Is wonderful I will share it with my daughter…pretty sure she will want one….❤️❤️❤️❤️
Greetings from the state of CT, I've been watching your videos for roughly two weeks or so. You have inspired me to take up the craft, and I wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos and your teaching method. Just put together a entry level kit for crafting leather, nothing expensive however I think it will get the job done for now. I look forward to more videos from you although I'm making my way through the back log.
I see ☺️ It feels good if the table you put it on is fashionable 😊
Thanks for tue round corner skiving tip🙏🏽
Dude you are so freaking awesome, I just love your super informative and educational videos, please don't stop:::::)))))))!!!!!
Beautiful
Gracias Señor 🤗👍
This would make an awesome mouse pad
Hi! I’m a pretty new subscriber and I love the channel! I would LOVE to see a video explaining the different kinds of leathers because that confuses me. I’m just starting to get into leathersmithing so I think that would be great!
That is an attractive design. Do you see any disadvantage in sewing the red leather to the top side of the mat before attaching the back of the mat? That way the stitching around the tool trough would not go through to the back of the mat.
Very nice project. I do some work on high end firearms and was thinking about making something similar but a much larger scale. I think I have a nice oil tan that would work quite well.
I just saw there is a DIY watch club. You can make your own watches.
Great video as always! The last couple of years I have gotten into watches. So...I need to ask. What's the watch you are wearing?
Well he mentioned the guy who ordered the strap makes custom Seikos, which he later elaborates are his favorite watch. So my guess is that its a Seiko, however i could very well be wrong of course.
Very nice. Is the pattern still available?
imagine this in the version of table calendar and slot for pens and pencil. i wonder if I should try that.
You should definitely go for it, the beauty of this project is it is quite a versatile thing.
Question. When I hand sew the one I made, I have trouble with too much stitching tension and the pad gets a bit wobbly. If I don’t have enough tension, the stitch doesn’t pull down tight. Any suggestions?
Super nice project! Any tips on getting super slick edges ?
The dye you use in that graffiti pen, is it alcohol based?
The sneeze made me jump! Trigger warning next time lol. Great little project and I will put it on my to-do list, I am just starting out on my leathercraft journey and your videos are a great source of info and inspiration.
Really like this one. What's the leather you used? Deer something, right?
It's wicket and craig's milled deer print veg tan, so it's cow hide embossed with a deer print - really, really cool if you get a whole side of it, there's varying texture from super fine to really chunky so you can make a bunch of different looks from one hide if you want.
@@Corter , yes it really looks nice. I'm in Canada, so not sure I can find it, but I wanted to know just in case I'd get lucky some day...
Ciekawy projekt, jakiej grubości była folia? Pozdrowienia🙋👍👍
👋👋👋🍯☕
or if you lose the screw in your glasses so you have to replace them and while you're getting everything together you can put the teeny tiny screws in there. or when switching out small batteries in something. or taking something with small circular pieces apart to clean before putting them back together... I lose things a lot...
Using Crimson again? Haven't seen them here for a long time.
yessir, back to the crimsons
Custom Seikos??? He is faiking nice brand watches
