I'm not a slopestyle expert, but it seems like doing a huge trick doesn't net you as many points and just spinning the handlebars a bunch of times, even though the consequences of not landing the big trick are far more severe. The winning runs I see always have a bunch of bar spins and x ups but don't always have huge tricks See: Tomas Lemoine at Whistler last year.
