    Thanks for this story. Never heard of The Midnighters. I was visiting my parents while viewing your channel and asked my parents had they. My father started singing, "Twist Again" and "Annie Get Your Yo-Yo." I fell out laughing.😂 I will be sharing your stories with them now. Happy to hear about this groups induction into the various Hall of Fames.👏🏾 Thanks again.
    Yes, would love seeing a video on Hank Ballard.

      Did you mean "Let's Twist Again"? That was by Chubby Checker.

      I was speaking of the version mentioned in the video called "The Twist." I see I put 'again' behind it because of me being familiar with that version and not knowing of the original version by Hank Ballard and The Midnighters until now.

    Thanks so much for this video, I played and was inspired by the trumpet player Pat Paterson in the South and Vince Vincent in the North, I met him while playing with the Jimmy Tieg orch. in Atlanta Georgia in 1966 at a club called The Pink Pussy Cat, backing up all MoTown groups, he dug Dizzy, I'm sure he probably isn't still with us as Pat at that time was 38 years old and I was only 21, Now I have a better understanding of Hank Ballard❤

    My favorite Midnighters song and I was in elementary school. "There's a thrill up on the hill, let's go, let's go, let's go. Then in 1972, Hank did a single called "From the love side".

    Great video on The Midnighters! I enjoyed watching this and I learned everything about this group. They were a great group throughout the 50's. I love some of their hits like The original Twist, Finger Poppin Time, Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go, Annie Had a Baby and many others. I would love to see you do a video on Hank Ballard. Keep up the good work!

    So of course do one for Hank Ballard. I heard how he was upset that they didn't play his twist song because they didn't have crossover success as Chubby Checker. He had an image he had more airplay so that's why it was more successful. Alot of people don't get credit for their original songs. It's always the 2nd or 3rd person after

      Hearing this and learning about The Midnightners helped me further understand why Chubby Checkers version of The Twist wasn't put into the Fall of Fame. Although his version was more popular, he wasn't the first to record it or write it.

    Hank Ballard song "Work with Me Annie" Inspired the Etta James song Work with me Henry. Also, Hank Ballard and James Brown were good friends and he sang with him and both left to go to Polydor. Hank Also owns the rights to the Midnighters as Hank Ballard and The Midnighters. Few songs I loved by Hank was the late 60s song How You Gonna Get Respect and The Love Slide, and Hey There Sexy Lady

      I think you meant to say "Roll With Me Henry" (Etta James).

    • @WashinRob
      @WashinRob 8 місяців тому +1

      Actually, I think we both have the song wrong it's Actually The Waliflower (Dance with Me Henry) with Johnny Pete or Johnny Moore or even Johnny Otis (I forgot which Johnny lol) even though when listening to it I don't think Dance is said. I mean it's been awhile 😊

    I would have to say "Teardrops On Your Letter". I still have it. "The Twist" is on the other side. I hope he got a lot of writer's royalties for that! Chubby Checker's version was embarrassing. Everything about Chubby Checker was embarrassing. What saved it was The Dreamlovers singing in the background. The black stations wouldn't even play it, they only played the original by Hank Ballard.

    The masters of hymns & masters musicians on the throne of God were the ones that it was lucifer , Satan, then passed to Orpheus, Paganini, Bethooven, to the black jazz & blues musicians like Robert Johnson that's why it was called the devils music .
