Acting, is one of the hardest professions at present. It is the art of bringing life to charchters that we meet in everyday life, whether they are dead or alive, regardless of their level of education or social status.
What angers me is that my theater teacher refuses to teach or use naturalism when performing. He’s so focused on making zany, wild characters, and I hate it. I want to convey real, raw emotions and real stories with real people, but he just wants caricatures with over exaggerated “emotions”. And he’s also resistant to playing off other people. He just wants us to repeat our lines the same way over time, orchestrated in a dull exchange that has No substance or sign of interest. I just wish he would do an interesting play for one, and let us use natural acting in it.
I see where your coming from, but in my humble opinion you should take that and mix it in to naturalism. I find it amazing when actors are able to do both, dabbling in both to keep the audience on their toes without making them lose interest and laugh throughout the entire piece you are performing. Though this is easier said then done.
Thanks for the feedback. Please feel free to send us best links to the info on that. We'll be happy to consider for a future essay. We're always looking for the most interesting and accurate facts!
Hey! Thanks for asking. We've been swamped setting up our own narrative channel but want to get back to WMM soon. Until then, on our site www.watchmeetmake.com we have some other good pieces on acting (type in search acting). Happy to keep you posted otherwise.
Watch Meet Make I guess I haven’t met anyone else besides me except for maybe a class I participated in. Every other person must have thought about it hahaha.
You'll find most of WATCH MEET MAKE now on www.hieronyvision.com. Including all the great pieces on acting. Part 2 of this one will be there eventually but it's only in script format now. Thanks for asking.
thats funny i say it sometimes and poeple usually agree with me but leonardo is the tony hawk of acting sport not my personal favorite or anything but like if acting is more than meets the eye and the skills were only understood by some and if their was one guy that could be an example of difference between acting and general charisma it would be leonardo cuz its like everyone with charisma understand it fine but he has whole different worldview on it i dunno know is i would even him charismatic as much as just realistically dramatic in whatever way he intends in an entertaining way to watch he still limited by who he is the parts he can play like all actors
This is so well made. It would be amazing if you folk made another version of this now that it's 2020 that mentions the contributions of non-European civilizations through history (the Egyptians, India, China, Japan, etc.). This feels a little whitewashed at this point. But the production values are so good!
Unfortunately waiting for us to have some free time to make it. When we can focus agin on WMM videos this will be the first one we do. Thanks for asking.
We so wish we had more time to work on part 2! One of these days we'll surprise folks. The scripts are written! If you want to learn more about acting check out our Harry Mastrogeorge videos on @hieronyvision or at www.hv.cool.
We're actually putting another one about acting out next week! Its not part two of this but still excellent advice for actors and the first one we have done in a long time. Stay tuned. The good news is we have made progress on our other project and will be getting pack to WMM and started discussing part two as well. Thanks for you interest.
Unfortunately we have been swamped with work. We do these for free educational purpose when we have time. Glad you liked it and when we get back to these it it be the top on our list.

Sorry to hear that. If you're in the LA area go see Harry. He's still teaching and is amazing.

I don't think everyone wants to be an actor. I've been open about wanting to be an actor even in school. I like art, science and literature.
Thats good. We're in Los Angeles where it sometimes seems like at least every other person wants to be an actor at some point in their life. LoL
Watch Meet Make I guess I haven’t met anyone else besides me except for maybe a class I participated in. Every other person must have thought about it hahaha.

Good video, well done!
Thx! Big topic. We have more to follow.
Where is Uta Hagan? I thought she was the contemporary of Strasberg and Adler?
Miener came later? Am I mistaken?
Isn't she a little later? Thought she started teaching in 1940s after being black listed...
