Thanks for the video it has helped me repair my Digital Chanter. I was having a problem of the sound breaking up probably due to some inadvertant damage to the 3.5mm jack socket. I dissmantled the device as per your instructions , re-soldered the 3.5mm jack socket pins and all seems good again.
This really helped me figure out how to get the sensor strip back in place after I stupidly took the chanter top off out of misguided curiosity. 😳 THANK YOU!!!
Great video! For removing the end cap, simply screw in the "mouth piece" that comes with it and gently pull whilst slightly wiggling the mouth piece up-down & left-right. The end cap will easily pop off without having to use a knife or screwdriver that can mar the plastic. Much simpler, and there's no possibility of scratching anything.
Thank you so much! This made be brave enough to Amazon a new battery and do this myself. As in the video, I couldn't find a battery with the same connector, but I found several options with pigtails for other connectors. It was fairly easy to splice on the original connector with minimal soldering and not have to worry about the battery terminal ends as in the video. I'll also note that my ribbon cable pulled right out of the connector every time I separated the top part from the bottom. It doesn't take much. But I could open the sliding clamp to reseat the ribbon cable and close the clamp again when reassembling. The chanter works good as new!
Thank you for share! I’m am guessing if change the battery is a must. I tested mine BC playing when I charge it with an external power bank and works perfectly. My battery is in good condition but I don’t know if it works with a bad condition battery.
HI, thanks for the great video! I have the same problem, the battery no longer holds a charge and it is very uncomfortable to play with the power bank attached to the chanter... But I did not understand how to remove the decorative ring, can you explain to me better how to do it?
when you take the blue cover off the battery, the is a elektronic device in the end of the battery, what about that? does it effect the performance if you dont reinstaii it?
Interesting. I never took that blue cover off. Guessing it's a battery management circuit. (Prevent under/overcharging). Mine seems to be working fine, but I'll look more into it.
I send my chanter back to Blair through USPS for the on/off switch to be repaired. All I have to do is make sure the battery has no charge, and it sent and returned from Australia with no problem.
Thank you for the instructions. However, you don't necessarily have to separate the lower part. If you carefully remove the top cover and cut the adhesive tape at the seam after loosening the ring, you can separate the halves. You can also get the battery with more wiring. In this case, it may be necessary to convert the connector from the defective battery. Does anyone know what the original connector is called?

I got my ear bud cord caught in a closing car door after 2 weeks of ownership. Been living with mono for years!

Excellent video and helpful comments below. Just ordered battery and micro JST connectors on eBay for under £10. Ready to give it a go... 🙂
Best of luck!

Thank you, solider. And God Bless America!
This video is much appreciated. Although, I would not have installed the battery the way you did nonetheless, thanks I will do it my own way.
Murray suggests NOT getting the bigger battery for circuitry concerns. I will switch back to the original size.

Didn't know it would work with a external battery.

Easy. Just grip the chanter with each hand on either side of the ring and work it apart. That's it!
Well thanks! I'll get the battery and try it with the help of a friend who is an expert in electronics.
I'll let you know about the result!!
Get an 800 mAh battery. Disregard that part of the video that talks about 1300.

When I went to the Post Office I was shut down. I'm glad that worked out for you!
