90's Ford Explorer JBL system and Blowing it's Subwoofer

- Checking out this old dirty oil coated sound system from a 1993 Ford Explorer and getting it working, than abusing the foam rotted 6.5 inch subwoofer driver!

haha all good, no doubt I'm over the fact I'm missing teeth and have been having a bit of a fun time with people dancing around the subject in real life :P
Long story short I lost my teeth from a bone deficiency that made them all just break easy, been just over a year since I got them all taken out to get the pain over with, I could have gotten dentures sooner however the healing after that was long, the other night I had a chunk of a broken tooth come out of my face actually and it hurt like hell lmfao FML right

@@GarretClaridgeMeerkat I hear that being near vibrations all the time can cause bones to get brittle, things like a talk box can cause teeth brittleness, but I'm not sure that has anything to do with speakers and stuff.
don't take it as fact it's just anecdotes.
@@GarretClaridgeMeerkat Marfan Syndrome can cause bone density issues, and you fit the general description. I can't say for certain you have that, but I would say, get your heart checked.

I own a 2002 Explorer, and it had a very similar sound system. It’s still rocking the stock sub, but I have a really nice one going in it at some point. The stock sound system really was quite impressive, especially compared to the garbage that’s put in cars now.
EDIT: After working on my Explorer a bit more, I found that the 2002 generation is when they started to become crappy. It had the two similar speakers in the front, and the rear had the usual cheap 6x9 Ford speakers. The sub is an 8 inch dual voice coil, and has its own amplifier. The door speakers used whatever was built into the head unit. So the older system in this video was way better, as it had two separate amps for the sun and door speakers, as well as the fancier speakers in all 4 doors.

@@harrisonkinsey7209 I’m sorry I can’t afford a damn BMW or Mercedes. Normal cars don’t have anything good in them. I have a 2018 Honda Accord, and the sound system is absolute garbage.
I own a 2010 explorer with a stock sub AND IT DOES HIT HARD I BE TURNING THE BASS MODE ON THE TRUCK UP, IT FREAKING VIBRATING THE WHOLE TRUCK
If anything, cars of today are finally getting decent sound systems.

The ford jbl systems BUMP. They were the cream of the crop back in the day and a quite expensive upgrade. Like the chrysler infinity systems.
Should keep the stock amps just for the hell of it.

I have some 8" subwoofers out of a kia car (forgot name). They are labeled jbl/infinity. They had some wicked excursion and the factory door speakers sounded pretty good.
If you put a 4 channel amp in a car and the rear speakers are in the door's, you'd usually turn those down so the sound doesn't seem likes it's coming from behind you.

I only exact car that used to go in to that sound system. We actually have it. We actually have the car in our driveway but it doesn’t run put the speaker system is in it and I pulled it out and actually does work.

Dude my 1993 ford explorer needed this wish I would have found it my explorer came factory with this option if u see this I would love too get what's left of the Sud box and what the amps are on the one that's in my 1993 ford explorer is in bad shape

its all done, just funny I never got it yet - was going to pick it up at an event i never attended but the maker lives only a few hours away from me and its getting mailed soon, just was not a high priority to get it yet and me and her kept forgetting, might even have to do an unboxing and first time putting it on video lol

what are you planning to do next with the door speakers and amps btw?
Nice that it wasn't CAN bus activated. All of the junk now has to communicate with several modules in the car in order to get its "POWER ON" signal. You can buy adapters and whatnot but why with this crap stock junk. My 2000 golf TDI has a banging sound system. It has a dedicated amp in the back and it powers 4 6" kevlar woofers and tweeters in the doors. It has 8 channels and the tweeters are actively driven. I have no information on it and it works with aftermarket head units because it uses input bias turn on. All I know is it will rattle the wore out cheap plastic in my interior until it is annoying to listen to. Plenty loud and you'd think you have 10's in the back but its just stock 6" door woofers.

I don't understand why so many car manufacturers use foam for the speaker surrounds. Cloth or rubber would be much better.
Foam is cheap, and manufacturers only care bout price when it comes to speakers y’a dont see sadly, unless it’s a super high end brand like B&o or b&w Or harman kardon etc…
You ought to find a stock sub from a 00-02 gmc yukon or yukon xl or a Chevy suburban or tahoe thats foam rotted and blow it
