I promise you that Dreamcatcher’s vocals and stage presence cannot be compared.. they are absolute BEASTS. They will sing exactly this live while dancing. Dreamcatcher is also an older/more experience group so you’re getting powerful grown ass women who can sing like absolute powerhouses. Yup, Dreamcatcher is a group with a rock sound as the core of their identity, consider the Face of Rock in Kpop. They are always trying new things and experimenting without losing that part of their identity. They debuted in 2017 which put them on same generation as Blackpink. Their popularity isn't near as high as all the other girl groups you mentioned in this video due to their unique sound, but they have a very dedicated fanbase due to the high quality of their music. Dreamcatcher actually came to be to stand out and be different from the rest at the time. Originally 5 of the members debuted as the group Minx which had a similar concept as several other groups of the time and was hard to get recognition. Rather than just disbanding the group they added 2 members, changed their concept and rebranded them as Dreamcatcher. Their title tracks are rock fusion, and they are not afraid to experiment with the sound. The B-sides off their albums on the other hand are not always rock inspired and explore many different styles and genres.

They pioneered the sound in kpop and have been arround as DC since 2017. Five of the members used to be a traditional cutesy group called Minx back in 2014 but they disbanded and re-branded as Dreamcatcher. Don’t worry about criticism from our fandom if you don’t like a Dreamcatcher song. Their sound isn’t very popular in Korea or the kpop community, so they’re more popular overseas. dreamcatcher \:D/ let me apologize for shawty, she has a problem, she likes to wink at the camera 😅 dreamcatcher just a little different from the rest. you would be very hard pressed to say any two dreamcatcher songs are similar because their discography spans across all genres and almost never revisits sounds used in previous songs. maybe check out the rest of the songs on the justice mini-album - stomp, 2 rings, fireflies. since they are sidetracks, there's no music video so you will have to use a lyric video but it's still worth it because they are that group where even their b-sides are fire.
I hope you give Dreamcatcher some love on this channel! They blend Rock and KPOP in a lot of their music. If you enjoy rock, metal or anime type of music, you'll enjoy Dreamcatcher. They have much heavier songs, a few even delving into Metal. It's for this reason why a majority of their fans are westerners who like this genre but not necessarily kpop.
From listening to mostly Metal and then getting into Kpop, Dreamcatcher is the perfect group to stan. They're more alternative than you're average Kpop group. Their vocals are top tier and hit those high notes with no effort. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which sounds very differently. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end). There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection. While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same. Please not that this is just my interpretation. Art can be interpreted in different ways, and other opinions are just as valid as mine. There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and providing justice. Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years.

To be honest, each Dreamcatcher song sounds different. They always come up with new songs that still have Dreamcatcher rock signature but with a twist. You should definitely dive into their discography. You forgot their debut album series - the Nightmare. It pretty much exposed the early fandom and casual listeners to their rock and metal sound before the Dystopia and Apocalypse trilogies rose to prominence as Dreamcatcher's most famous albums.
I'm at little late to the party but thanks for checking out Dreamcatcher's Justice! You should check out the rest of their Virtuous EP that dropped with this, especially if you like harmonies. They've got a traditional ballad on the EP that's just gorgeous.
Thank you for taking the time to check them out. I also started my KPOP journey with Blackpink. However, after finding Dreamcatcher they raised the bar of what I look for in kpop groups. They have some of the best tracks in kpop and music in general. I agree with your sentiment about critique and allowing the artist to grow from that. Case in point is this song honestly. Dreamcatcher got a lot of backlash for their previous title OOTD because it didn't "feel" like a Dreamcatcher song(we know now that was for a reason). Justice has had HUGE support because it sounds like Dreamcatcher. Then you see groups like Blackpink who have songs that almost all kind of sound the same and follow a set formula. The fans just seemed to soak up whatever they put out like it was water in a desert. Any critique is/was met with super hostile responses, sometimes even threats. Highly recommend following up with a few of their b-sides, and their solo activities. They all put so much of themselves into their solo songs that it gives you a perfect idea of who each of the members are. B-Sides I'd recommend are: Sleep-walking(heavy dance track), Red Sun(gothic rock), Reason(Fan song), Jazz Bar, and Wonderland
If you want a unique group Dreamcatcher is the right one, due to being different and from a small company they had a hard time gaining popularity, but thanks to the fanbase they built outside of Korea they kept growing to reach where they are now. Definitely my top group followed by XG
Congratulations! You just stumbled on to one of the most unique groups in kpop. Literally no one is doing it like they are. I mean, they've actually been credited (unofficially) for creating their own genre of kpop. Most of what I would be saying here has already been said by other commenters, which is probably a good thing because I could rant for hours about how good this group is. I hear what you're saying about most kpop, about how similar a lot of it sounds. Kpop, like most pop music, suffers from the fact that it is, indeed, pop music. It's designed to follow trends, to be somewhat shallow and, to an extent, be a little generic. It's specifically designed to appeal to the widest demographic possible and, in the process, loses a lot of creativity and diversity. Not to say that their music is garbage or anything. Most groups put will put out good, solid bops. But it is what it is and, usually, that's all it is. A good bop. Good bops have they're place but they will never make you sit up and think "Wow, that is _it!_ . That's what I've been waiting for". But then you stumble on groups like this one. Groups that truly innovate. Groups that aren't afraid to step outside the box. Groups that say "Her we are. This is our music. Take it or leave it". I also agree that people who get offended by a little constructive criticism needs to sit down and relax. People shouldn't be coming at you when you express your opinion, as long as it's done in a respectful, civil manner. If you're honest opinion triggers people, well, that's just them just being childish.

I’m going to date myself, but I enjoyed going to clubs in the late 90’s - early 00’s. Back then synthwave was huge, with groups like VNV Nation, Covenant, Project Pitchfork, Wumpscut, etc. killing it on the dance floor. Dreamcatcher would have (and still can) fit into that synthpop/wave playlist. I’ve seen them twice live and they are amazing. They are on tour this year so if you get a chance, check them out! Dreamcatcher has been doing this kind of sound since their 2017 debut and staying true to that identity for all of their title tracks. B-sides is when they show they can also excel in different genres too. Their live vocals are like no others and if you watch their live band version for this song on It's live then you can really see how talented this group is. I am yet to find any group that can have five of their members belting the same note in one song.
YES !! I am a big fan of hard rock, so I guess that's why I love the rock vibe of Dreamcatcher...they are my favorite girl group. I am not really into cutesy kpop....one reason why Boy With Luv and Permission to Dance are probably my least favorite BTS main tracks. These girls are super talented, some of their biggest songs are Scream, Boca & Odd Eye, all bangers. That first background voice you heard is that of the main vocalist, Siyeon....her voice simply blows me away. She unfortunately had to miss the promotions for Justice due to health issues/anxiety & was definitely missed, but the other girls filled in her parts very well. Since you liked this vibe I think you will really like their other songs too....hope to see more reactions to them !
i also started with blackpink. i loved them bc of the variety of instruments and gave me the nostalgia of pop/hip-hop/rap that used to be so popular when i was growing up. i kinda lost interest bc they've been away for so long. thankfully, i came across dreamcatcher. dreamcatcher is the kind of artist i normally listen to, as i'm a fan of rock/metal/punk/hardcore. all their title tracks are rock and then they try different genres for their bsides. i'm sure you will love to go through their discography. dreamcatcher does conceptual storylines through their mv/title tracks. here is the list in order! 1. Nightmare Series: Chase me, Good night, Fly High (prequel), You and I, What, Piri (end) and Breaking Out (alternative ending). This story is Dreamcatcher's debut concept. Each girl represents a nightmare and they haunt people. They become a nightmare because of a curse explained in the prequel. No more spoilers. 2. Dystopia Trilogy: Scream, Boca and Odd Eye. This concept is about cyberbullying and the power of words. The tree of language bears white fruit, but becomes corrupted once words of hatred are spread. Eventually, there is only black fruit and that's where the story begins. 3. Apocalypse Trilogy: MAISON, VISION and BONVOYAGE. Global warming and pollution have reached its limits due to humans being selfish and careless. 4. VersuS: OOTD (villains) and JUSTICE (virtuous). In a parallel world universe, Dreamcatcher become villains in order to obtain the power of the crown, which is said to give you eternal life. Instead, you lose yourself. Justice shows the alternative world where Dreamcatcher become heroes and destroy the crown to avoid more victims. If you wanna check more about JUSTICE, I recomment their dancEAR and It's Live performances. You'll be blown away by the vocals and choreo.
The edition in this video is so amazing !!! Like, this is the best I've seen from DCC! I am seeing so many biblical references, which dates back to the album title! Support dancers are all in black, while girls have at least a little white in them (all except Yoohyun Mmmmmm). Your second chorus is surrounded everywhere by darkness, but it still fights. Darkness tries to master them, but they fight against her! "She is the knight that shines all over the world, she is the warrior who gives strength and courage to all parts of the world, she is the eternal legend that will be remembered in all parts of the world, she is the dreamy of dreams." . This was such a different MV for them! I didn't expect religious themes coming in it, but they razed. My only observation is that I wanted both MV and music to be more chaotic and intense the longer it lasted. This one is a dreamy of dreams. The iconic divas are back with all the power.

The melody is captivating, the vocals are powerful, and each member shines so brightly. Their unique concept and musical style continue to stand out in the K-pop industry. This 10th mini-album, "VirtuouS," is the counterpart to their previous 9th mini-album, "VersuS VillainS." My advice would be to check out their previous comeback, OOTD. Be aware that beneath its superficial appearance, the lore of this title is probably one of the heaviest narratives I’ve seen so far, with secret codes and an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) preceding the comeback. I won't attempt to explain everything here, but if you're interested, just know that you'll need to do some digging to fully grasp the concept. Anyway, if you give them another chance, I wish you an enjoyable journey.
Welcome to the Dreamworld. What you have here is a group that debuted in 2017 that stood alone in its rock/horror concept. The company had originally debuted them as a different group with a FAR different sound. It wasn't successful, so they decided to do something different. REALLY DIFFERENT. Also due to the time they debuted, the standards were different, standards they uphold to this day. It's not to say that newer groups aren't talented in their own right, but vocally, they can't really compare. Over time there has been this shift in Kpop that focuses less on vocal capability and stability in favor of more visuals and more complicated choreography. As DC's choreography has always been more hard than not, this wasn't adjustment for them. But vocally? In the original studio edit of this song, which you heard here, 5 out of 7 members blast that high note in the chorus. One the members had to take a mental health break during promotions, so they had two of the members pull the extra vocal weight. As a result, 6 out of 7 took that note. That's rare now in newer groups, to have that many vocalists that are capable of such things within a group. In the live performances, to save their energy, they shorten the note. But if you watch their 'It's Live' performance, they hold it the whole time. In a world where lip syncing in the norm, this group still insists on singing live as often as possible.

Bro - Kpop started in the *mid 90s.* It is impossible to catch up to every group (I'm just talking active groups, not disbanded ones) and you will burn yourself out if you try to react to even a majority. We're currently in 5th Gen. Baby monster, Kiss of Life, XG, etc are all either very late 4th gens or early 5ths. Dreamcatcher is late 3rd gen. There are active groups from 2nd gen (roughly 2003- 2012-ish - long story, just roll with it for the moment) and even some active *first* gens. I've seen so many reactors just burn themselves out trying to keep on top of all the music out there and "catch up" with back catalogues. You don't have to react to everyone. That being said, I'm glad you decided to give Dreamcatcher a listen! They make it a point to not sound like everyone else - they tried that with Minx (5/7 members were in that group) and failed miserably because they couldn't stand out from the crowd in the sea of sameness. The closest to "mainstream" they've done is OOTD, the first part of this mini arc/story, where they used it to show the narcissism and fakeness of manufactured fights for cameras and clicks, the shallowness of it all, and how social media and the kpop industry itself perpetuate that attitude. ...Oh yeah. Dreamcatcher is one of 3 groups that are extremely universe-driven in that they are always telling a story and have some of the most densely packed MVs in symbolisms that I've ever seen. Dreamcatcher added in social critiques to theirs as well. (The other 2 are boy groups - VIXX and Ateez. Dreamcatcher and Ateez share the same production team, so there are some sonic similarities.) Dystopia is about cyber bullying and harmful words, Apocalypse is about the destruction of the planet.

A lot of K-pop groups layer the voices of their members over each other to cover for the vocally weaker members, so they sound the same as each other. Dreamcatcher don't do that, though they do have Siyeon (the main vocalist) supporting in the background many times, it harmonizes rather than obfuscated their individual voices. As a whole Dreamcatcher is one of the more vocally talented groups out there (as opposed to having one or two vocalists as many groups do).
Blackpink does nothing for me, but if it's what you're into, that's cool. Oh My Girl is my favorite group. Dreamcatcher is another. MAMAMOO, WOOAH, Red Velvet and Twice rank pretty high for me, as well. I appreciate all if these groups for their versatility. I've spent the past two or three months discovering what Dreamcatcher has to offer, and I'm hard-pressed to find another group as unique as they are. If you decide to do more Dreamcatcher in the future, most of their MVs have subtitles, so you can get an idea of what they're singing about - Dreamcatcher is very aware of societal issues and incorporates it into their storytelling.

Also, ITZY has been around for 5 years (?), and their new stuff, starting with "Born to Be" is a little different from their original sound, but - in my humble opinion these new songs are really good stuff! Despite being down one voice (One of the girls, Lia was taking a hietus due to emotional issues she wanted to solve. But she is gonna be back on the next "Album".). I really like all of their stuff - so I am bit bias. ;) I would also suggest listening to AESPA, IVE, G-IDLE, LE SSERAFIM, NMIX, KEPLER, STAYC, LOOSEMBLE, LIGHTSUM, ICHILLIN, my list goes on and on. For me, this is pretty much wishful thinking - but if Dreamcatcher and Evanescence were to collab for a song, that would be epic af. Right now, though, I feel some Within Temptation vibes from Deukae (as we InSomnias would sometimes call them). They've been doing some serious experimenting on sounds over the years - by far, their most polarizing song for me (yet among my most favorite) was Scream and Boca due to how two to three different sounds plus their signature rock/metal sounds gave me a whiplash. 😅

Within Temptation suffered enough with her, but I've never been a fan of Amy and her practices. Rock sound is not for everyone, but if you give DC a try, you won't regret it... InSomnias are very welcoming Fandom and will help you guide through the journey... Dreamcatcher actually came to be to stand out and be different from the rest at the time. Originally 5 of the members debuted as the group Minx which had a similar concept as several other groups of the time and was hard to get recognition. Rather than just disbanding the group they added 2 members, changed their concept and rebranded them as Dreamcatcher. Their title tracks are rock fusion, and they are not afraid to experiment with the sound. The B-sides off their albums on the other hand are not always rock inspired and explore many different styles and genres.

They pioneered the sound in kpop and have been arround as DC since 2017. Five of the members used to be a traditional cutesy group called Minx back in 2014 but they disbanded and re-branded as Dreamcatcher.
Don’t worry about criticism from our fandom if you don’t like a Dreamcatcher song. Their sound isn’t very popular in Korea or the kpop community, so they’re more popular overseas. But we’ve often heard people say that DC isn’t their taste, so we’re not offended by that. Most of us are adults, so you won’t get any nonesense from us. Hope you check out more DC music!

dreamcatcher just a little different from the rest. you would be very hard pressed to say any two dreamcatcher songs are similar because their discography spans across all genres and almost never revisits sounds used in previous songs. maybe check out the rest of the songs on the justice mini-album - stomp, 2 rings, fireflies. since they are sidetracks, there's no music video so you will have to use a lyric video but it's still worth it because they are that group where even their b-sides are fire.

They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉
Justice is part two of a two-part series, the first one is OOTD, which sounds very differently. Just like ymenehcra for OOTD, an account named 9mynameis1 has been posting messages before the comeback. She posted that her seven friends became obsessed with the crown and have not been responding anymore, which corresponds with the secret diary Siyeon (our powerhouse main vocal, also known as Wolfie) is reading. The text there reads "How are you? I'm worried because you aren't replying." So what we are seeing here is the seven friends (Dreamcatcher) getting rid of their obsession with the crown (materialism, narcicism) by literally destroying it, which makes their friend rejoin them (there is an eighth person joining them near the end).
There is also a lot of imagery about death and legendary figures like Valkyries or greek goddesses and legends. Reddit user PaintMeYaBasic has managed to identify these paintings in the MV: Hero by Edward Burne-Jones (from the tale of Hero and Leander), Valkyrie and a Dying Hero by Hans Makart, Hero and Leander by Salvator Rosa and finally "Justice" by Kenyon Cox in the center back. In the tale of Hero and Leander from Greek mythology, Hero is actually a priestess of Aphrodite (Venus in the Roman myths), so that is not the same as the hero who is taken from the battlefield by a Valkyrie in the other painting. But OOTD has the line "I'm Venus, Nephthys, call me a Goddess". It is likely there is a connection.
While OOTD was about falling for the temptations of modern life and a satire on narcicism (especially influencers and fast fashion), I believe Justice is telling us to fight those temptations for a better world. It is a call to become a warrior for good in the world and fight the materialism that seems to be the most important thing for many people in the developed countries. You can see JiU break the bonds that hold her down, and we should do the same.
Please not that this is just my interpretation. Art can be interpreted in different ways, and other opinions are just as valid as mine.
There are also many references to their older MVs in this. The paintings also have a deeper meaning in Chase me, there is a sword in Deja Vu and Scream, the bite into the apple is a callback to BEcause and the tree to the Dystopia trilogy - and so on. There are many more. The 8th figure in the end could also be JiU from Deja Vu, finally breaking the cycle of violence and providing justice.
Musically, I love the song. The guitars in the pre-chorus and chorus are pure heaven (just like Dongie with her wings). It has the right amount of heaviness for me, and it is an anthem and a call to action. I also love that they shortened the pre-chorus by two bars in the second half, throwing us into the chorus early. Justice is a brilliant, epic release, showing everyone that a group can still produce fantastic music and MVs after seven and a half years.

Thank you for taking the time to check them out. I also started my KPOP journey with Blackpink. However, after finding Dreamcatcher they raised the bar of what I look for in kpop groups. They have some of the best tracks in kpop and music in general. I agree with your sentiment about critique and allowing the artist to grow from that. Case in point is this song honestly. Dreamcatcher got a lot of backlash for their previous title OOTD because it didn't "feel" like a Dreamcatcher song(we know now that was for a reason). Justice has had HUGE support because it sounds like Dreamcatcher. Then you see groups like Blackpink who have songs that almost all kind of sound the same and follow a set formula. The fans just seemed to soak up whatever they put out like it was water in a desert. Any critique is/was met with super hostile responses, sometimes even threats.
Highly recommend following up with a few of their b-sides, and their solo activities. They all put so much of themselves into their solo songs that it gives you a perfect idea of who each of the members are. B-Sides I'd recommend are: Sleep-walking(heavy dance track), Red Sun(gothic rock), Reason(Fan song), Jazz Bar, and Wonderland

Congratulations! You just stumbled on to one of the most unique groups in kpop. Literally no one is doing it like they are. I mean, they've actually been credited (unofficially) for creating their own genre of kpop.
Most of what I would be saying here has already been said by other commenters, which is probably a good thing because I could rant for hours about how good this group is.
I hear what you're saying about most kpop, about how similar a lot of it sounds. Kpop, like most pop music, suffers from the fact that it is, indeed, pop music. It's designed to follow trends, to be somewhat shallow and, to an extent, be a little generic. It's specifically designed to appeal to the widest demographic possible and, in the process, loses a lot of creativity and diversity. Not to say that their music is garbage or anything. Most groups put will put out good, solid bops. But it is what it is and, usually, that's all it is. A good bop. Good bops have they're place but they will never make you sit up and think "Wow, that is _it!_ . That's what I've been waiting for".
But then you stumble on groups like this one. Groups that truly innovate. Groups that aren't afraid to step outside the box. Groups that say "Her we are. This is our music. Take it or leave it".
I also agree that people who get offended by a little constructive criticism needs to sit down and relax. People shouldn't be coming at you when you express your opinion, as long as it's done in a respectful, civil manner. If you're honest opinion triggers people, well, that's just them just being childish.

I’m going to date myself, but I enjoyed going to clubs in the late 90’s - early 00’s. Back then synthwave was huge, with groups like VNV Nation, Covenant, Project Pitchfork, Wumpscut, etc. killing it on the dance floor. Dreamcatcher would have (and still can) fit into that synthpop/wave playlist. I’ve seen them twice live and they are amazing. They are on tour this year so if you get a chance, check them out! Scream is the song that made me stan them, but Sahara sealed the deal. Check out the selfie cam version!
Dreamcatcher has been doing this kind of sound since their 2017 debut and staying true to that identity for all of their title tracks. B-sides is when they show they can also excel in different genres too. Their live vocals are like no others and if you watch their live band version for this song on It's live then you can really see how talented this group is. I am yet to find any group that can have five of their members belting the same note in one song.

YES !! I am a big fan of hard rock, so I guess that's why I love the rock vibe of Dreamcatcher...they are my favorite girl group. I am not really into cutesy kpop....one reason why Boy With Luv and Permission to Dance are probably my least favorite BTS main tracks. These girls are super talented, some of their biggest songs are Scream, Boca & Odd Eye, all bangers. That first background voice you heard is that of the main vocalist, Siyeon....her voice simply blows me away. Dreamcatcher has been my ult fave group for years! i’ve seen them live in concert several times and they always KILL IT!
i also started with blackpink. i loved them bc of the variety of instruments and gave me the nostalgia of pop/hip-hop/rap that used to be so popular when i was growing up. i kinda lost interest bc they've been away for so long. thankfully, i came across dreamcatcher. dreamcatcher is the kind of artist i normally listen to, as i'm a fan of rock/metal/punk/hardcore. all their title tracks are rock and then they try different genres for their bsides. i'm sure you will love to go through their discography. dreamcatcher does conceptual storylines through their mv/title tracks. here is the list in order!
1. Nightmare Series: Chase me, Good night, Fly High (prequel), You and I, What, Piri (end) and Breaking Out (alternative ending). This story is Dreamcatcher's debut concept. Each girl represents a nightmare and they haunt people. They become a nightmare because of a curse explained in the prequel. No more spoilers.
2. Dystopia Trilogy: Scream, Boca and Odd Eye. This concept is about cyberbullying and the power of words. The tree of language bears white fruit, but becomes corrupted once words of hatred are spread. Eventually, there is only black fruit and that's where the story begins.
3. Apocalypse Trilogy: MAISON, VISION and BONVOYAGE. Global warming and pollution have reached its limits due to humans being selfish and careless.
4. VersuS: OOTD (villains) and JUSTICE (virtuous). In a parallel world universe, Dreamcatcher become villains in order to obtain the power of the crown, which is said to give you eternal life. Instead, you lose yourself. Justice shows the alternative world where Dreamcatcher become heroes and destroy the crown to avoid more victims.
If you wanna check more about JUSTICE, I recomment their dancEAR and It's Live performances. You'll be blown away by the vocals and choreo.
The edition in this video is so amazing !!! Like, this is the best I've seen from DCC! I am seeing so many biblical references, which dates back to the album title! Support dancers are all in black, while girls have at least a little white in them (all except Yoohyun Mmmmmm). Your second chorus is surrounded everywhere by darkness, but it still fights. Darkness tries to master them, but they fight against her! "She is the knight that shines all over the world, she is the warrior who gives strength and courage to all parts of the world, she is the eternal legend that will be remembered in all parts of the world, she is the dreamy of dreams." . This was such a different MV for them! I didn't expect religious themes coming in it, but they razed. My only observation is that I wanted both MV and music to be more chaotic and intense the longer it lasted. This one is a dreamy of dreams. The iconic divas are back with all the power.

Dreamcatcher never fails to impress. Once again, this comeback is absolutely stunning. The melody is captivating, the vocals are powerful, and each member shines so brightly. Their unique concept and musical style continue to stand out in the K-pop industry.
This 10th mini-album, "VirtuouS," is the counterpart to their previous 9th mini-album, "VersuS VillainS." My advice would be to check out their previous comeback, OOTD. Be aware that beneath its superficial appearance, the lore of this title is probably one of the heaviest narratives I’ve seen so far, with secret codes and an Alternate Reality Game (ARG) preceding the comeback. I won't attempt to explain everything here, but if you're interested, just know that you'll need to do some digging to fully grasp the concept.

Welcome to the Dreamworld. What you have here is a group that debuted in 2017 that stood alone in its rock/horror concept. The company had originally debuted them as a different group with a FAR different sound. It wasn't successful, so they decided to do something different. REALLY DIFFERENT. Also due to the time they debuted, the standards were different, standards they uphold to this day. It's not to say that newer groups aren't talented in their own right, but vocally, they can't really compare. Over time there has been this shift in Kpop that focuses less on vocal capability and stability in favor of more visuals and more complicated choreography. As DC's choreography has always been more hard than not, this wasn't adjustment for them. But vocally? In the original studio edit of this song, which you heard here, 5 out of 7 members blast that high note in the chorus. One the members had to take a mental health break during promotions, so they had two of the members pull the extra vocal weight. As a result, 6 out of 7 took that note. That's rare now in newer groups, to have that many vocalists that are capable of such things within a group. In the live performances, to save their energy, they shorten the note. But if you watch their 'It's Live' performance, they hold it the whole time. In a world where lip syncing in the norm, this group still insists on singing live as often as possible.

Dreamcatcher's songs have yet to disappoint me though. Of course there are songs in their discography that are not the type i listen to, but, they're not disappointing for me.
Here's an intro to Dreamcatcher, in case you'd like to explore more of them. I'm interested to know what you think of their range of songs, starting from the album of this comeback, Virtuous, which you've just reacted to their title track, Justice.
Dreamcatcher (DC/Deukae) is an unique 7 member girl group. They're a K-pop group known to incorporate pop & other genres and, in one way or another, blending with rock/metal/synth instrumentals within *ALL* their *TITLE TRACKS*.
Thus creating an unique signature blend of genre known only to Dreamcatcher.
They're also known as the Concept Queens and having Powerful live performances, usually with dark/horror/creepy concept themes MVs. Their title tracks MVs have always been story based, connecting one song to another. **This is only for their TITLE TRACKS.**
They've had concerts and live performances with live bands, which, to me, has the best versions, which many InSomnias can agree that.
On a flipside, their B-SIDES hold a *HUGE* variety of genres and experimental fusion creativity. It's like a different world of Dreamcatcher. Ballads, EDM, jazz, funk, reggae, hard metal/rock, citypop, just to name some. Their B-side tracks is where all members flex their vocals & versatility which seems infinite, as they continue to surprise us everytime they comeback with new songs.
The members also showed their creativity by taking part and getting credited for the composing, writing, choreographies for some of their songs too. They have also done numerous vocal/dance covers, adding their own twist to the songs, making it their own. And all 7 of them wrote/composed/produced their own solo songs & included them in the Apocalypse:Save Us full Album.

Bro - Kpop started in the *mid 90s.* It is impossible to catch up to every group (I'm just talking active groups, not disbanded ones) and you will burn yourself out if you try to react to even a majority. We're currently in 5th Gen. Baby monster, Kiss of Life, XG, etc are all either very late 4th gens or early 5ths. Dreamcatcher is late 3rd gen. There are active groups from 2nd gen (roughly 2003- 2012-ish - long story, just roll with it for the moment) and even some active *first* gens. I've seen so many reactors just burn themselves out trying to keep on top of all the music out there and "catch up" with back catalogues. You don't have to react to everyone.
That being said, I'm glad you decided to give Dreamcatcher a listen! They make it a point to not sound like everyone else - they tried that with Minx (5/7 members were in that group) and failed miserably because they couldn't stand out from the crowd in the sea of sameness. The closest to "mainstream" they've done is OOTD, the first part of this mini arc/story, where they used it to show the narcissism and fakeness of manufactured fights for cameras and clicks, the shallowness of it all, and how social media and the kpop industry itself perpetuate that attitude.
...Oh yeah. Dreamcatcher is one of 3 groups that are extremely universe-driven in that they are always telling a story and have some of the most densely packed MVs in symbolisms that I've ever seen. Dreamcatcher added in social critiques to theirs as well. (The other 2 are boy groups - VIXX and Ateez. Dreamcatcher and Ateez share the same production team, so there are some sonic similarities.) Dystopia is about cyber bullying and harmful words, Apocalypse is about the destruction of the planet.
Dreamcatcher never dissapointed. Stan for them.

A lot of K-pop groups layer the voices of their members over each other to cover for the vocally weaker members, so they sound the same as each other. Dreamcatcher don't do that, though they do have Siyeon (the main vocalist) supporting in the background many times, it harmonizes rather than obfuscated their individual voices. As a whole Dreamcatcher is one of the more vocally talented groups out there (as opposed to having one or two vocalists as many groups do).
Best girls in music imo. They've been in the game for a minute, and have never put out a flop. Always bangers

Oh My Girl is my favorite group. Dreamcatcher is another. MAMAMOO, WOOAH, Red Velvet and Twice rank pretty high for me, as well. I appreciate all if these groups for their versatility.
I've spent the past two or three months discovering what Dreamcatcher has to offer, and I'm hard-pressed to find another group as unique as they are.
If you decide to do more Dreamcatcher in the future, most of their MVs have subtitles, so you can get an idea of what they're singing about - Dreamcatcher is very aware of societal issues and incorporates it into their storytelling.

Also, ITZY has been around for 5 years (?), and their new stuff, starting with "Born to Be" is a little different from their original sound, but - in my humble opinion these new songs are really good stuff! Despite being down one voice (One of the girls, Lia was taking a hietus due to emotional issues she wanted to solve. But she is gonna be back on the next "Album".). I really like all of their stuff - so I am bit bias. ;)
I would also suggest listening to AESPA, IVE, G-IDLE, LE SSERAFIM, NMIX, KEPLER, STAYC, LOOSEMBLE, LIGHTSUM, ICHILLIN, my list goes on and on. I just love the sound of female voice. No mater what the language is.

@@zakkrouse1404 yes, I did feel that Evanescence vibes from Dreamcatcher during their Nightmare era. For me, this is pretty much wishful thinking - but if Dreamcatcher and Evanescence were to collab for a song, that would be epic af.
Right now, though, I feel some Within Temptation vibes from Deukae (as we InSomnias would sometimes call them). They've been doing some serious experimenting on sounds over the years - by far, their most polarizing song for me (yet among my most favorite) was Scream and Boca due to how two to three different sounds plus their signature rock/metal sounds gave me a whiplash. 😅

On the other side, I feel that a collaboration with Amy Lee would be a nightmare for sure, and not a good one. Within Temptation suffered enough with her, but I've never been a fan of Amy and her practices. If a collaboration did happen, I'd support it of course but just a preference, Dreamcatcher could vibe with a lot of other artists, just not Amy... and her backing band, Evanescence.
