@@joseanvi always here for my fans man, wishing you all the best on your build. Remember the power of the motor is in the tune that you put in it. You got this. 🤝🤝🤝
While it is a great idea. Toyota could not use the beams due to modern emissions regulations and such which the 3s could not keep up with. If it wasn't for that, then this would be a great idea.
Toyota should have put their blacktop 3s in the Gt86 an put the boxer in the subaru Brz ...makes sense so you know difference .These days the person in charge of toyota isnt makin good decisions to suit customers, i wonder does he even listen...
It's more power, 160kw at the moment, stock boxer is 147kw at 7000rpm redline. The 3SGE allows for a higher redline at 8500rpm, but the response is better throughout the Rev range. 😉 Plus there is some more power to be made out of this car as it stands with some exhaust system changes that could put it in the 170kw mark.
I mean, this is great and all that but it literally is all the same. A remapped GT86 already makes 160kw so I mean, it wasn't much of an upgrade, just a side-grade. Again, it's cool and all, something different I suppose.
@@Pynoxim1 sometimes it's not all about the numbers it's the way the car feels. Think of this video done on this car as part one of the R&D for people who are also contemplating this. I know you do some crazy conversions yourself so you'll like where part two of this is going. 🤝
@@akeelhassanvideo Does it include things that spin really REALLY fast causing positive pressure to be gently persuaded into the intake manifold? If so then I'm all ears. Also I understand the concept behind doing an engine swap but generally within reason. If it was to get a particular sound out of it then the BEAMS makes perfect sense. If it was for power then it doesn't. Of course without knowing the owners true intention all I can do is sit here and speculate. I do appreciate the time, effort and work that has gone into the build though, it's never easy doing a conversion and props to the owner for going to an actual good ECU. Would have been great, but the cost would of skyrocketed using the 3SGE Beams motor if Toyota decided to use that motor. From the start, plus the weight would of been off and it wouldn't handle as well as it is.
Costs might be off the charts however currently the car cost 600k plus which is already off the charts as for weight the beams is lighter than the boxer motor
@@Avocado1_Avocado2 It's not about weight though, it's about center of gravity and weight distribution. The beams will throw that off entirely and handling capabilities will be reduced. Of course you won't feel that on public roads but driving it at the limit you definitely would feel a difference.
To be honest think that the fa20 is a better engine for the car the only real issue is the. Torque dip lighter shorter more powerful lower centre of gravity probably cheaper to use a Subaru developed engine then revive a 20 year old engine and bring it up to emission standards the BRZ / GT 86 will be a car that will keep on being made and keep on being sold it's not the best in category because it's built for a price but that price is something you can afford
I totally understand where you're coming from and the FA20 was a good strategic decision and the best economical way to build this car from the factory and a manufacturer perspective. This is however from the owner's perspective with torque on tap all the way through and the 3S-GE engine is lighter.

Bro howsit your car is whipp bro are you still using the original gearbox and press button ignition?
I'll definitely let the owner know the kind words or he may even comment here soon, but yes it's using the original gearbox and the start button still works as well which is awesome. 😎🤝 That's part of the reason I had to feature this car.

Yes indeed!
This almost 20 years older engine , slighter more power stock, the 3SGE sounds better , better quality and best is it extremely tunable for aftermarket, phenomenal sound with turbocharged, to me best sound turbo car. Legendary 4 cylinder. I agree this should have been the engine on Toyota 86 , I don’t hate the boxer engine, it great as is stock . Just doesn’t have much potential.
You see, you and I speak the same language. Totally agree with what you're saying it has more options available to it in this platform.
@@akeelhassanvideo exactly said , funny thing is people always mention other swaps and don’t even know of this legendary 3SGE and I’m like why? This powerful engine and turbocharged even better ! It’s powerful. Def the way to go and I’m glad to see somebody putting it out there , funny thing is I planning to get Toyota 86 and I want swap in 3SGE engine to begin with, it just cost a lot of money 💰 something I lack as is😎 this is def not easy project and I know it will have it hurdles🧨. @@Sol_chaser92 honestly this was my first time swapping an engine and doing wiring with management and I was shocked at how smooth it went. @@Sol_chaser92 I wish you all the best when you do engine swop your GT86. Sometimes the best options are overlooked and the 3S-GE engines are very bulletproof when the engine tune is good.
I think even 2ZZ-GE engine also suits in that car..
That will be another great swap😎😎😎
What's fuel like 1/100Km? For every day driving, is it a good idea? Are those stock standard tires BTW? No rear wheel drive shaft problem yet? / nice choice of mods, planning on doing the same but homework always comes first before conversions.
Hi Neko I find the car abit lighter on fuel on daily driving. I have no drive shaft issues and I am running on Potenza 003

Out of curiosity, is there's somebody in SA that has swapped beams to avanza?
That's actually a good question, I don't think so to my knowledge. 🤔

It can work, I mean if people are able to put a k swap in a Rx7 then it should be able to go in that platform too.

While I expect my FA20 to last a long time I also cant wait for it to blow so i can do an engine swap. So far a beams engine or honda k series are the 2 engines I'm looking at.
Both are great choices in my opinion

See, me and you, we're on the same wavelength. 😎💪🤝
While it is a great idea. Toyota could not use the beams due to modern emissions regulations and such which the 3s could not keep up with.
If it wasn't for that, then this would be a great idea.
So true man, it's the perfect case of what could've been, if regulations allowed. 🤝

Hey brother, pop me a message on my Facebook page: facebook.com/hpavs
Are you based in Cape Town?
Toyota should have put their blacktop 3s in the Gt86 an put the boxer in the subaru Brz ...makes sense so you know difference .These days the person in charge of toyota isnt makin good decisions to suit customers, i wonder does he even listen...
I'm looking forward to the Yaris GR coming to South Africa. I think Toyota redeemed themselves with that car. 😎
The GT86 from the factorywas really lacking in the performance side of things yes.
@@akeelhassanvideo so far so good
@@reneeharewood5053 happy to hear that
Needs a turbo on that 3SGE
It's running Naturally Aspirated for now.
Put it up against an IS200/300 same tune and everything
That would actually be an interesting comparison, pity we didn't get any Altezza's locally and the is200's here are 6cylinder cars.
@@akeelhassanvideo you mean the 2JZ's only? Dang well boost up and show em N.A power can keep up
Yeah so is 200 here came with the 1G-FE, which is a 2.0 liter 6 cylinder N/A and then the IS 300 came with the N/A version of the 2JZ motor.
Sounds good but all this for basically the same power
It's more power, 160kw at the moment, stock boxer is 147kw at 7000rpm redline. The 3SGE allows for a higher redline at 8500rpm, but the response is better throughout the Rev range. 😉 Plus there is some more power to be made out of this car as it stands with some exhaust system changes that could put it in the 170kw mark.
@@akeelhassanvideo ok cool...looks fun to drive
EMU black really is a treat to work with and installing it on a Mk4 Supra the other day gave me an amazing perspective on just how much of a difference a good ECU makes.
Anyhow, amazing video man, it's always good to see local car channels on the up and up and I do wish you all the best on your run to 20k subscribers and beyond.
PS : I'm grumpy today due to lack of sleep so apologies if my comments come off very off-side.
@@Pynoxim1 correct my mistake in saying weight, 👍
What’s the rim
I can't remember bro, this video was a long while back.
lets goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

this car must come from the factory with the beams, if not the 2zz
2zz is also a very good option, will take some fabrication though.
How dare you now take off that boxer badge on your side fender
I love your sense of humor
Allan you more than welcome to come buy them by me. As I do have plans on replacing it
To be honest think that the fa20 is a better engine for the car the only real issue is the.
