I’m leaving up my small frosty trees, evergreens, old wood sled and my husbands grandpas wood Norwegian skis. We live in snowy, cold Minnesota, so it fits. For Valentines I have mercury and wicker hearts.
I love the greens for Christmas the best so I do a lot of greenery, and winter blended with pops of red, the stockings and trees. I don’t hurry to take down my last tree because it’s a “friends of the forest” themed tree which I started for my grandchildren about 7 years ago. We leave it up as part of winter decorating as it is neutral and not Christmas. Reds are removed, the other trees and stockings. But I leave up the greenery, white candles and some of the small fairy lights with having very long cold winters in the Adirondacks of northern NY. We have already dropped below zero here and we do have snow everywhere. So when I decorate for Christmas it really is for both. It’s fun! I add in old snowshoes, my antique sled and we celebrate winter.
I started decorating for winter a couple of years ago. It has really taken the sadness out of taking all the Christmas decor down. I’m usually excited to get back to a more neutral color scheme using snowflakes, ice skates, sleds and deep greens.
Totally enjoyed love your way of thinking when it come's to decorating, the older i get the more im leaning that way, its what makes you happy is what you decorate with. God bless you and your family ☃️🤗
A good bit of my holiday decor is actually seasonally ‘winter’. I use a lot of deep pine green in Winter vs the lighter sage shade I use in Spring and Summer. I follow your rule of neutral furniture, walls, carpets, etc. and can easily add seasonal color ❤
Yes after Christmas I keep winter items out. Like cozy throws and soft lights especially since the first day of winter is Dec.21st.I live in Wisc.and it can be really cold in Jan.and Feb.
Amy, I am also looking forward to putting house back to neutral after Christmas. I do decorate some for winter too. I would love ideas on home decor without any seasonal items. I am trying to simplify my decorating and reduce decor. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍
I always have "seasonal" decor -- Christmas, of course, and then post-Christmas winter where I pack specifically Christmas stuff away but leave out some greenery and blankets and candles. Then in spring bust out some flowers (blue, mainly) and change them to yellow in summer and then to muted oranges in fall. I keep the decor pretty minimal though in spring and summer because I frankly hate those seasons here in FL. I come alive in what passes for fall and winter here.
I love your style, Amy. Since a few years ago, I decorate for post-Christmas winter. Basically I pack away anything that's specifically Christmas -- the tree, anything red, signs, stockings, etc. But I leave out greenery and lanterns and candlesticks and blankets. Where I put my tree up is where, the rest of the year, my large fake ficus tree is. I keep fairy lights in it, so all year long it's festive and pretty. I love Christmas, but also love Jan and Feb because it's calm and here in Florida the weather is actually nice. Dread spring... spring and summer are actually depressing for me. Reverse seasonal mood disorder, LOL.
Love your simple but yet so elegant decorating style! But also I love color to much to rule it out. Pops of color I can never resist. All kinds of decor kinda like a antique here & there. Oh so perfect, you have the knack!
Greetings from Pa Amy! I leave up a lot of stuff n just take down the pops of red unless I leave some up for Valentine’s Day, but mostly it’s snow n winter stuff I set up because it’s winter n I decorate for the seasons as well, I don’t really do just the holiday except for Christmas n put out my stuff for each season n I do 2 houses n I am older than u so it’s a lot of work for me so I make the change worth my while lol! Great finds, thank u for sharing n all that u do, enjoy! 😊❤️🎁💕⭐️🎄
I’m into a neutral, clean and uncluttered home these days. It started at the end of last December when I went for a clean slate like you described, and I just loved it and with the world the way it is now and not getting better, it just seems fitting to keep everything uncluttered and clean and concentrate on stocking my home and pantry for the future. That’s where my mindset seems to be now anyway. So, have a wonderful time off, enjoy your family during this time and blessings for a fantastic new year! ❤
Your home is beautifully decorated all throughout the year. I love seeing all of your creative decor ideas. You think of ways to decorate that I would never think of but love. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
Such amazing ideas. I love rustic and cozy decorating and your home is beautiful! And I would love advice on FB market place. I’m looking for a farmhouse table that can fit 8 people. Thank you for sharing your ideas! ❤
Have you considered having one of the men in your family making you a wooden farmhouse table. Just find one of your favorite styles and take lots of pics from every angle. They are not difficult to make... just takes a little time and muscle. My nephew and his wife did this...spent a few hundred dollars and ended up with a $5000 dollar table. It was gorgeous !!!! Oh and BTW... it seats 8 people. Good luck....
Every room in your home is amazing. I love all the tips you gave. You have such an amazing talent. When I look at your rooms it makes me go AHHHHH so calming. Best of all you are decorating in an affordable way. Love your channel Amy♥️
Great ideas, I really like citrus strip you can pick it up at Lowe’s or Home Depot no harsh chemical s ..I’m really drawn to the raw woods but I have to have some color in my home. I use black white and gray as jumping off point to add color 🤗💕
I love Wal-Mart to. I always find great items at a reasonable price. I really enjoyed watching you and getting wonderful decorating ideas. Have a blessed day.
So many ideas to look forward to! Do you have a link to your living room rug? I think it would look beautiful in our bedroom, a perfect way to lighten it up!
I'm glad I'm not the only one already thinking about putting up all the Christmas decorations and just letting the house be bare and empty for a little while. You gave some great ideas. Merry Christmas

Hello we have a lot of wood in our home. I keep a cozy home all year round. We live in Texas so even in the hot summer months I love cozy. I keep twinkle lights up all year round.🎄🎄🏠🏠
❤ Amy, I'm sure you've shared it a hundred times but where is your brown plaid rug from please? Also, have you done a previous video on homemade Christmas gifts for friends snd neighbors?
I love all of your suggestions Amy. I value your ideas always. I do have a question though. I live in a log home. I have wood floors, beams, ceilings and walls. I love the bare naked furniture look but I have so much cedar wood everywhere I don't know how to make my home look as serene as yours l. Currently I have white slightly distressed furniture. Do you have any ideas? Thanks
I am not that excited about supporting Walmart. I don’t feel like they support their employees very well. So on that note I am moving on. Happy Holiday.
I'm not sorry. Anyone following you, know you..... would never buy that board. Not just for colour....but flowers that are not in season. 😔 please stay relatable. Don't sell yourself out. It's not worth it.
Id have to disagree on this one…I bought the board with my own money. No one told me to buy it… I thought it was so cute! Poinsettia’s are very much in season for Christmas? Not sure how I’m not relatable it’s from Walmart 🤣
Also, just to clarify, it’s totally ok not to like it if it’s not your style. You’re free to your own opinion… I would just hope you would respect mine. 😊

That’s what I do, it’s the season for it lol in most states anyway! 😜❤️⭐️
I do the same. In January I’m not ready for spring flowers yet. Leave up some small, plain trees and snow scenes
I do the same -- love it!
