I am an actor and content creator with Hollywood credits including roles on Lucifer (Netflix), Starlight Christmas (Hallmark), JT Leroy (Universal Studios), etc. In this channel, I offer insight to Kpop performances using my 10+ years of training in dance, acting, singing and overall performance. In dance, my forte are contemporary and musicals and have done most of my performances in theatre. Singers & vocal coaches love their voices, artists love the song, dancers love the dancing, but haters with no profile hates them for no reason (maybe jealous fans of groups that know MEOVV is gonna take over). Sums up the reaction to MEOVV’s debut.
lol, was very surprised when Reddit didn’t like them. And actually most reactors weren’t that impressed either. TRC and Jeff were the only ones that said they liked it (ones I watched).
Haters are afried that meow will get more popularity and famous than those groups haters stan.

You can't even praise them anywhere without people butting in about how "the song sucks" or the "mv sucks". And they act like we're the only fandom who exaggerate their praises. @@swimmerboy172Most reactors do like MEOVV and they want to see more. Reactors such as Brisxlife, Anthonytoo, kess and Han, the duke, Sebastine and more. I agree what @mcfowlerman said and also there is a lot of people who takes more than just one listen to truly like the song. Which makes sense because there’s a lot to take in, listening to the beat, you get thrown off by the visuals, vocals and choreography. Fans should be more like the Kpop artist and support each other music regardless of what label instead of spreading jealousy and hate.
Real because I don't understand why people were hating. The laid-back quality is like a breath of relief after all the high-tension releases in K-pop for me.

SOOIN, the main dancer, she graduated from SOPA (School of Performing Arts Seoul), which is the most famous Performing Arts school in South Korea. There's so many famous alumnis graduated from there as well like Kai and Sehun from EXO, Seul-gi & Joy (Red Velvet), Mark Lee & Tae Yung(NCT) , Jisoo (Blackpink)

In the opening frame starting from the left with the white top - Gawon (Korean-American - born in the USA - 19), Anna (Japanese - 18), Ella (Korean-American - born in Los Angeles - 15), Narin (Korean - 17) and Sooin (Korean - 19). Sooin and Gawon are 15 days apart making Sooin the older of the two. Gawon is a former model and trained at YG at.some point, Anna is a model and actress and has been in some J-dramas and Ella was a child model and has done some acting in America. Ella trained at YG and is friends with the girls in Blackpink. She is particularly close to Jennie and people say she looks like her. The group's name, Meovv, is an acronym for My Eyes Open Wide. They also have teasers for each member.
Ella never trained at YG. She signed with TheBlackLabel in 2018 as a model and actress. In addition to her modeling for Adidas, she acted in six American tv shows from 2018-2023.

I really love Gawon's voice. I think the tone is really not something you often hear. And the face? THE FACE?!?! She looks sophisticated and cool. Everyone's pretty and cool but Gawon's visual just hits different (in my personal opinion of course)

Jeff, you SHOULD watch their NPOP performance video. The camerawork and focus on different angles of the choreography is BEAUTIFUL, like you can genuinely watch it endlessly because of the quality
I wasnt really sold with MEOVV with the MV but i continued to check out their performance videos and THAT'S where they really started to grow on me. As for the song, im just personally tired of most songs lacking a bridge these days lol but I'd be interested to see what their 2nd single would be like
BRUH BAILEY SOK???😮 She's one of the most talented and popular young dancers of her generation. She was actually supposed to debut with MEOVV! But she didn't for personal reasons. We were all so excited for her. I think she's still in TBL tho. She's choreographed for a lot of kpop grps and has done alot of work outside of kpop since she was actually based in the USA. She's been dancing pro since she was 14. I think u would recognize her
Bailey Sok was never confirmed to be a trainee. What was confirmed was she has been working with TheBlackLabel as a choreographer since 2022. Netizens assumed she was a trainee due to the pictures of her with TheBlackLabel trainees. The logical explanation for that was she was their dance instructor and choreographer, but netizens wanted her to be an idol so much that they used hate comments to silence the logical explanation and only promote the rumor that she was a trainee that will be debuting.
The choreographers for "Meow" are Girin Jang, Todd Williamson, LeeJung Lee, and Bailey Sok.

Thank you for appreciating everything else despite not liking the song. I feel like people has been too harsh on Meovv. KPOP has never been 100% about the music for a long time but people act like Meovv and Teddy committed a grave mistake and failed the music industry for being "too lame", "too repetitive", "too unoriginal". But some popular groups released the same ol thing and music that does not fit everyone's taste. It's really up to preferences but not even acknowledging other strengths of the song or the group... I think that's just being hateful

they have great tones and for them emphasizing their lower range is so good and fresh for me. also ELLA has similar vocal tones to SOMI. 😊 I LOVE THE CHOREO TOOOO!!!!
fun fact: bailey sok was part of the line up debuting but she quit the black label.we don't know she is today but since she hasn't posted on her sns for over a year its fair to assume she is trainee somewhere in korea cause she lives in korea since 2022.

Yea I enjoyed this debut with the empty chorus I mean the meow has to be empty. I just wish there was more of a hard hitting rap part. The MV was the issue for me just a lot of simple sets with posing, even the fur suits moment going into the dance break did not fit. Once the performance vid dropped the next day the choreo hit so good. It made the song go harder I really enjoy the choreo and the dance break.
I really love their deep vocal tones too since it's unique among girl groups! However, I honestly have concerns about how that will translate to live performances.
I've watched some of their perf in music shows but I can easily tell those are pre-recorded vocals, not live LIVE (a good example of live for real vocals among newer groups are KATSEYE music show perfs, you can search it up and see what I mean, been a kpop fan for years so I can tell).
This type of singing is fine when it's a b-side (kind of like how you said you heard this kind of singing and tones more on western songs) but when you pair it up with kpop type of choreo? It's bound to be really harsh, cause singing in lower register AND just your chest voice is easier to end up in not so stable, shaky vocals.
I also watched another vocal teacher reactor (I believe her name is Kat something, I'm bad at names sorry) but yeah she also talked a bit about her concerns regarding how they will do live performances with this type of singing and how stable they will be.
