  • The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the second largest plan in the American Airlines Fleet. The Dreamliner has a unique cargo bay along with more modern method for loading the cargo “cans”.
    In this video you will see how this process differed from the typical Boeing 737.

      one small mistake 0:06 - 0:12 it's a B787-9, they don't say 900 just "dash 9"

    Say what you want about Boeing (they earned it) but when it comes to the 787 it’s a top two aircraft for me just because of those windows. Big, and with the polarisation feature which is amazing. Was on the sunward side on a transatlantic flight and in any other plane I’d have to shut the blind which I hate doing, but on the 787 you just find the setting that blocks enough glare for everyone, and I can still see out. Perfect.

    After working around so many 737s and A320s…that 787 must seem enormous. The most amazing thing about them is their range. Dallas to Sydney (8500 miles) with an average flight time of 16-17 hours.

    • @ladyandtheramp

      More amazing yet...the 777 and those engines. As they say, if you took the wings off of a 737, the fuselage could fit through the engine cowling of a 777. Fire one of those engines up and it will pull in debris from all over phoenix.

    The K Loader operator needs to lower the bridge so the AKE containers go in better/drop and they don’t hang up on the lip when being loaded. Another great information video ❤

    This is why you don’t pack your lithium batteries in your checked luggage. There is no way to extinguish your bag in flight.

    • @noob.168
      @noob.168 Рік тому +2

      This is why it's also safer to remove the aircraft's lithium ion batteries after takeoff.

      sorry if thi is a stupid question, but shouldn't metal contain fire, to a certain level?

    • @squillz8310
      @squillz8310 11 місяців тому +1

      Modern aircraft have fire suppression systems in their cargo bins beneath the aircraft. That way the bin can be filled with a fire retardant material to stop any fires especially from batteries that weren't removed.

    • @Delibro
      @Delibro 6 місяців тому

      @@gucciprincethe1st970 Yea but the batteries themselves can't contain it, it burns through their shell. And if a whole container is burning his metal can't contain it either.

    • @cody7068
      @cody7068 6 місяців тому

      @@squillz8310that is true, but that’s really only effective for aircraft that do not use these types of containers. As far as I’m aware, narrow body aircraft do not use these containers. Theirs a linen in the bin that’s black and white stripped to give a guideline as to not stack higher than it for fire suppression. For these containers, you just better pray that it’s not a fire fed by a large amount of fuel, because it’s going to continue even after fire suppression.

    Is it a checks-and-balances kind of thing that the crew that loaded the cargo bay did not close the hatch but rather someone else moves in to do that? Or is there a different reason?

    The k loader operator has it to high as you see the containers almost hitting the roof before dropping off the edge of the loader going into the aircraft. He it was lowered down by 2 inches, the cans would have gone in a lot better.

Did you know that pretty much every major airport in the world, the parking stands are standardised? They are all the same size, specifically to fit an aircraft. I remember going out in the car to see the first Airbus A380 visiting Gatwick. When it parked, the tail stuck out into the taxiway! 😀
