- We are excited to be back with new episodes of Community food stories from home kitchens across Delhi and NCR. The previous seasons of this series is on Delhi food Walks UA-cam channel. It will introduce you to the mesmerizing world of traditional food and culture of different regional communities residing in the Capital and its surroundings. So get ready to be enthralled by the glorious facets of Indian cuisine shared by some awesome hosts.
In today's episode we have come to the home of our gracious hosts Smita and Vikas Shukla at Dwarka to explore the traditional cuisine of Eastern UP. Smita is a passionate cook who shares her cooking endeavours with the world through her UA-cam channel @zaikagajabka. And in this pursuit she is accompanied by her husband Vikas ji who too is a food enthusiast and a great cook.
On reaching there Smita ji served us a refreshing aam panna with namak and shakarpare. With mangoes growing in abundance, this is a common summertime drink preferred in this part of the state. Soon after we headed to the kitchen to begin with the pre meal preation. Smita ji quickly whipped up some wood apple sharbat, noon bariya and dana and served them with galka, kheer and chane ka paratha. The thick and luscious kheer made of native aromatic and short grain rice was amazing and so was the channel ka paratha.
After that hearty snack we again got back to the kitchen for the lunch preparation. Smita ji began with a popular green peas paste curry called nimona. This was followed by aalu baingan, sukhi arbi and chawal ki puri. While conjuring up these mouthwatering dishes with effortless ease, Smita ji shared many interesting and amusing information about their festivals, way of life and some of her personal food related experiences that led to moment of wonder and laughter.
Soon the platter was laid out that also had some more dishes that Smita ji had already prepares in advance. This included a sweet and sour pumpkin curry, stuffed bitter gourd, no onion pumpkin curry, some crispy treats, dahi vada, panna vada, galka and chutney.
It was a soulful meal whose hallmark was it's simplicity. The eating experience was heightened by the warm, spirited and genial presence of our hosts Smita and Vikas ji. They shared so many culinary snippets about their food culture.
After polishing off the elaborate platter we once again went to the kitchen to make some fresh gujiyas for dessert course. As usual in an easy manner, Smita ji made some crisp golden khoya stuffed gujiyas. It was a perfect end to the soul satisfying meal.
For all details and stories check out the video till the end.

Shukla ji tabiyat khush ho gai .
Aap ke ghar ka khana dekh kar mummy ki yaad aa gayi aur aankh me nami bhi .......
Aap log dilli me purvanchal ko jinda rakhe hain.
Bhabhi ji ke hath men bada swad hai.
Aaloo me tamatar baad me dalna ye trick purvanchal ki bahut purani hai.Aur hamare shukla ji ekdam bhav vibhor hokar apani shrimati ji ki excellence nihar rahe hai.
Such a loving husband and sachha jeevan sathi jo apani wife ko appreciate kar rahe hai.
She is so graceful!!! Amazing!! Proud to be an Avadhi 🙏🙏

The host (Sir) is real foodie....the love for food reflects from his eyes, whereas Mam is so much talkative and innocent, she loves to talk about food....lovely couple 😊
The hosts were really nice and wholesome. Really enjoyed every second of their hospitality and I wish to go to their home and eat all these delicacies of Eastern U.P. Smita ji spoke so nicely and was the spotlight of the video. A great job done by DFW in making this video and making us aware of the culture of Eastern U.P. Thanks you :)
thank you
Puru
UP is kind of mini India. I am from East UP and these are my favorites.
This concept is unique. Nowdays, there is concept in hotel, street food in all over India that extra cheese, butter, ghee makes great food. Which is not true.
Authentic food is much more healtheir.
Bhut khub 👌🙏 purvanchal ka gajab swad😋😋
They are so similar to my chachi and chacha from Begusarai.I miss Bihar and everything about my people, being stuck in this pandemic and living overseas is not easy but watching Anubhav Ji's video makes my day . So calm and relaxed. Takes me back home.
"Fara" bhi try kariyega . Eastern UP ki dish hai. Chawal k aatay mein chaney ki daal bharkar (masalon k sath peeskar bani hui).Steam ya Fry karke khayi jaati hai.
This Channel is better than many other jhola chaap UA-camrs but underrated.
Bahut hee meethi bhasha ..hi purvanchal me👌
Being from Eastern Uttarpradesh, Mirzapur this episode made me so happy.
Missing my mom's food 😍
She has great knowledge of old traditional things, stories..apki baton aur dishes se mujhe meri dadi ki yad aa gai, wo ye sare dishes banati thi.
true!
Eastern UP's food is really amazing. Thanks a lot for covering it, and superb hosts. 🙏🙏
BTW, at my home, we cook dana during winter season using green peas and potato in ghee.
My parents migrated a long time back from the same region, because of better health and education facilities.
Still today, my parents miss their hometown, but sadly the health infrastructure has not yet improved 😭.
Such a warm and hospitable family. Very very nice video.
Very hard working and energetic host. Salute to our home makers.
Madam khana itna jhtpat baaten karte hue information dete hue banayi hai bahut intelligent hai sir bhi bahut hasmukh hai
Anubhav , this is one of the best vlogs I have enjoyed . Smita is an absolute treasure of customs and recipes . I would be very grateful if you could kindly ask her to put the recipes on her you tube channel . Thank you so much
Mithila Meerut Rajasthan Bihar aur yeh wala sabse aacha episode 😘😊🙏👍😀😃😄😁
First time I saw so many Eastern UP foods in one show. Great presentation by hosts. I strongly recommend second part of the same covering more dishes. All the best.

This family has roots ..
They took me back in my childhood ...
Very sweet n hard working lady cooks testy food 🍲🍲 very nice vlog with testy food
Hum bhi up Prayagraj se hain..mera manpasand..nimona and noo bariya...
To tell you the truth we people from purvanchal( bhojpuri speaking folk from bihar and eastern uttar pradesh) are introvert by nature. We do not open up easily with everyone.we do not brag and show off like punjabi folks. We are down to earth does not matter how much money many of us have. That's why our culture and food do not get the fame it deserves. Anyways things are getting better..
Oh common purvanchalis r dhakaad
Aise hi nhi isse bahubaliyo ka pradesh kaha jata h
Awadh,bundelkhand r quite peaceful
So grateful to you madam for the many authentic dishes
Buhut hi acha lga aapka khana or Buhut hi humble or sweet ho aap 🙏🙏😍😍
Nimona pehli Baar dekhi..ansu aa gaye mere aankh me😍
Very nice couple.
It was delightful to see the knowledge about & pride in the dishes, traditions & culture of the native place of Mrs Shukla, inspite of living in a culturally dead place like New Delhi.
Nice to see Anubhav Sapra showing due respect & appreciation of all the efforts put in by the hosts.
Very enjoyable episode.
Thank you for this episode, the hosts were wonderful. It’s beautiful to see and learn about our Indian cultures .

नोन- नमक, बरिया- पकौड़ी, नोनबरिया अवध और पूर्वांचल का प्रसिद्व नाश्ता है। प्रायः सुबह बनता है घर पर।
Shukla madam master hai... 👌👍
What an awesome video. I have eaten many of the dishes while I was posted in a sugar mill in the eastern UP. My family and myself had amazing time there during my tenure. Smita ji is an awesome chef and a great host and Anubhav ji you have a great style of hosting the videos.

Ye sara food humlogo ke place mai banaya jata hai I can imagine the taste hamare side ka traditional food.
Maja aa gaya dekhkar apne ghar ka swad dekh kar.. 😍😍....
Wow, this is so amazing to see. Everything they have prepared here, we haven't even heard their name here in western UP, how diverse UP is in this thing too
Very true, I was born in East Up (Deoria) and raised in West UP(Ghaziabad) . These are delicacies which are always cooked in our 🏠. On the other hand I have enjoyed Sugarcane ki kheer and dryfruit wala gud at my Jaat and Gujars friend house in West up😀. UP is best state in terms of wide variety of food, language and cultures
@@hasbd hahaha, sugarcane is everything to us sir especially the Meerut, Muzzafarnagar belt. Our food is incomplete without gud/shakkar/bura
East UP and West Bihar have same Bhojpuri culture
@@purubiya no, Bhojpuri is spoken only in Poorvanchal region of UP.
@@shraddhamishra301Dude the word Bhojpuri originates from Bhojpur town of Bihar. So Bhojpuri's origin is in Bihar only but majority of it's speakers are in UP. Only 9 districts of Bihar speak Bhojpuri but in UP there are 17 districts who speak Bhojpuri.
Such a hospitable lady..😊
UP ki pahchaan to Easter UP se hi hai.
West UP wale to apne aapko delhi wala samajhte hai

From ghazipur,love this episode
V nice....simplicity
Nemona is the best dish in Eastern up nemona goes best with rice and sukhi aloo subzi
The lady seems to possess excellent knowledge and this is what is expected from a UP Brahmin 🙏
Only Conservative thoughts and narrow mindedness are expected from Brahmins.. Whether be UP Or any part of india....
So just rectify your statement.
@@kunallal2292 Brahmins have given knowledge to the world. So definitely bow down before a true Brahmin. Brahmins are the image of God Himself. If someone hasn't seen God, please see a true Brahmin. Om Tat Sat 🙏
@@abhiseksarkhel5961" Nashe me hai wo" who think that Brahmins are the image of God. This is a perfect example of the conservative mindset and narrow mindedness of Brahmins which I was talking about.
God resides in each and every living or non living matter in the entire universe. Linking God's existence with a particular caste is an absolute act of foolishness.
@@kunallal2292 With great love and respect, I would like to end the debate. Our views are different but we both are the children of God. 🙏
@@abhiseksarkhel5961 Obviously, the conservative views of Brahmins always have a difference with the progressive thinking and accomodative & space giving attitude of Kayasthas. I know that.
Anubhav sir salute to you 👏👏👏 jis tarah aap local foods ko explore kar rahe h our sabhi ko bata rahe h ki hamare roots kya h our healthy food kya h hamara culture kya h 🙏🙏🙏 good job sir ji
