Texas Wins Key Legal Battle to Halt Illegal Immigration as Gov. Abbott Signs New Legislation
December 21, 2023
FAIR US org
A day after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed bills funding additional border barriers and making illegal entry a state crime, the federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals blocked the Biden administration from removing the state’s razor wire fencing along a section of the Rio Grande.
Both actions are bound to trigger more legal wrangling, but Texas got an early Christmas bonus from the appellate court decision, which suggested that rather than impeding federal law enforcement, Texas’ policies are supplementing it.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and multiple immigrant-rights groups immediately filed suit in the Western District of Texas, claiming that the state overstepped its constitutional limits.
AMEN LT.GOVERNOR PATRICK AND SENATOR TED CRUZ❤❤
Texas has great leadership. Proud of Texas and Texans. You all live the Word of God in helping each other and all pitching in together. God bless Texas. Praying for you all.
Wtf are you talking about. Houston still has over 2 million without power. Happens every damn storm!! Our grid is extremely weak .. always has been .. and I am ashamed of our leaders. We homeowners will not be compensated for anything whatsoever. Not one penny. Not any power for elderly and children. We are starving and burning up 🥵
I love my home state of Texas .. but you cannot be serious 😮… we cannot even reach any authorities to find out what is happening.. much less have clean water or power. My neighborhood was hit VERY hard and we are completely on our own. COMPLETELY. NOT AN GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVE IN SIGHT 😢
Amen!
What good leadership 😂😂😂😂😂
Save Texas. Arizona here.
So nice to have the Lt Gov in charge! ❤Way to go!

Ted Cruze, please put a word in for Baptist Encampment Neighborhood in New Caney. I have had to move 4 times since January due to storms and flooding, and now Im financially and physically exhausted . Today entergy said it wont be till the 14 th for electricity...im crippled, on SS, and my tiny RV is so hot its unbelievable. Dont see how I can make it till the 14th. Thank you

Absolutely!! They saved us today. Even the famous Whataburger is without power. A complete shame on the government of Texas.
No more talk! We need help! Katy, Texas!
My sympathies to the loss of one’s life 16:59
Why is a disaster relief guy not prepared with a generator?? 😮😂😏
I call for Public Utilities Commission of Texas to enact a rule requiring a free week of power for each day without power after the first day for any household which loses power in a forecasted weather event.
Provide a clear financial incentive and see CenterPoint, and other utilities, make improvements in their response.
@@houstonsam6163 yes! Free generators for everyone out of power!!
Why don’t the energy companies have a better maintenance program regarding trees near power lines? That would be a big start. Remove threes near lines. Or put lines underground.
Not tomorrow! Now! It is Wednesday!
Just like the bush fire in a snow season , Texas is targeted
When you don't behave they will punish us. We are Texans we can take it.
@leannakennedy2567 That doesn't make it right for them to attack anyone, they have become the enemy of the state.
Yep texas is great. But what are we doing to "build back better" instead of bubble gum and duct tape. CP is a state regulated monopoly utilty. Its cheaper to pay legislators than harden the system.
Stop with these stories! You live in River Oaks at our expense! Restore power now! 77494!
Fields of Failure: The Scandal of Taxpayer Funded Stadiums
2023 Summary
Professional sports provide benefits by building community spirit and pride, but unfortunately, they often have a negative impact on taxpayers. Since 2000, states and localities across the country have spent $43.1 billion to build professional sports stadiums. Elected officials at the local, state, and federal levels of government should take steps to rein in stadium subsidies that hurt taxpayers and leave fans subject to the whims of the owners of their favorite teams. The impacts of sports teams often transcend the games themselves. Following the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013, the people of Boston rallied around the success of the hometown Major League Baseball (MLB) Boston Red Sox when the team won the World Series. Similarly, the people of Houston found hope in the Houston Astros when the franchise won its first World Series just months after the city was devastated by Hurricane Harvey in September 2017. Fans also create bonds that go beyond where they reside. For example, supporters of the National Football League’s (NFL) Buffalo Bills have formed a tight knit “Bills Mafia” that travels around the country to support the team. And dedicated fans for baseball, basketball, and hockey teams in New York sometimes outnumber the hometown fans in arenas and stadiums in other cities where they live across the country.
Unfortunately, aside from instilling civic pride, sports teams have become a detriment to taxpayers in many places. Recognizing the power they have over local communities, team owners and league leaders have sought to use their positions to force local residents to finance the construction of the stadiums in which their teams play. According to a December 22, 2022, CNBC report, since 2000, publicly constructed facilities have cost taxpayers more than $43.1 billion.1 Stadium subsidies are so pervasive that a blog, “Field of Schemes,” was created in 1998 to examine and publicize how approximately $2 billion annually is provided in public subsidies for new professional sports facilities.2 Team owners and elected officials have long justified this substantial use of the taxpayer’s money with claims that they would lead to increased economic growth and development. Many studies, however, show that publicly funded stadium projects provide little to no economic benefits to local communities.
Citizens Against Government Waste has long argued that taxpayer funded stadiums have become a scourge on the nation, costing taxpayers billions of dollars each year in new expenses and lost tax revenues. But with the exposure and publicity of these issues come opportunities for reform. Proposals range from changes to the tax code to greater civic participation to increased accountability to voter input on stadium financing. Without such changes, taxpayers across the country will continue to subsidize billionaire team owners and some of the richest sports leagues in the world while fans watch their beloved hometown teams leave town at the whims of owners seeking a better deal. While no one is suggesting that teams can never move from one location to another, steps should be taken to help protect taxpayers from being forced to cover bad investments. ^^^ source, CITIZENS AGAINST GOVT WASTE
Love Ted Cruz❤❤❤
Somebody dropped the ball with this one. Nothing but incompetence..Cars flooded, no power and no way to go get basic needs. I have been through many hurricanes in Jefferson County and never such a mess. There was always water and food provided. I called the city I live in and asked for help and I was told I need to contact Galveston County. The city did say I could come charge my phone and sit in AC until 5pm. Well that's great how the hell do I get there??? There are many elderly people in my neighborhood is it gonna take them dying??? All we hear about is Houston and Galveston Island. Somebody needs to be held accountable.
❤️ love Ted Cruz 🙏
Did Ted Cruz fly in directly from his satelite office in Cancun to offer his thoughts and prayers ? Gee thanks Teodoro !
Senator Ted Cruz you should run for president, I think you would really fix this country
I'm serious, I think you would do great
If anyone going to make a negative comment tores me, save it
We need serious help!
Reactive on the response to the grid during the ice storm in '21 and now *Reactive* yet again during Hurricane Beryl. Just go crawl back under your rocks and stop putting on a show for the naive.
What about Texas New Mexico??
We do love our trees. We will be OK with electricity companies planning better than taking down trees
On that note. From the little drive around I noticed a trend none of the downed trees were pine which are very popular in Northern Houston. All seemed to be wider tress such as oak. Pine trees are a pain to own.
I distinctly remember hearing on the news more than once, channel 13 I believe, that the city of Houston had not done anything to prepare, or something like that. I dont remember the exact language but I do remember feeling surprised to hear that. : ( Maybe that was before it turned north but still surprising!!
Was teddy in Cancun again? I bet these politicians never lost power
Ted Cruz should have been in DC doing HIS job, voting on that very important judge appointment.
Instead he was a no show no vote.
State government did not need him there grandstanding.
Imagine that. A Texas state official has to cook their own meal. Can we say out of touch?
This is why people need solar panels and solar generators for their refrigerator and freezer and lights until they can get the power back up . They might not have ac but they can keep their food frozen and cold and water in the fridge to keep cold and ice packs . And medicine cold along with gas generator for night time .
Where have you been Ted Cruz while you area is in distress! Vacationing. People read between the lines!

Way to go @ssholes...way to be reactive and not proactive and then hold a press conference. Three stooges. Yall should be out passing out food and water helping your constituents instead of behind closed doors in the AC putting on an act.
I disagree!
People should have prepared and had food knowing storm was coming. There are churches and other people providing food, helping clean up and providing cooling places.
We need these men doing their jobs organizating the efforts to rebuild.

@@nm3547 classic CRT FACTS denial again?? - - - Haitian Migrant Charged with Rape of Massachusetts Girl Released on $500 Bai
FAIR Take | July 2024
Last week, a Haitian migrant charged with raping a 15-year-old girl in a migrant shelter in Rockland, Massachusetts, was released on $500 bail. The case is a tragic example of how the most vulnerable are hurt by open-borders and sanctuary policies.
The defendant in this case, Mr. Alvarez, was arrested in March for raping a 15-year-old girl at a Comfort Inn, which had been transformed into migrant shelter. According to the Boston Herald, a hotel employee called 911 on March 13 to report the alleged assault. The girl, who is disabled, told officers through an interpreter that she was brought to Alvarez’s room and raped. The girl immediately identified Mr. Alvarez as the perpetrator. According to court records, Alvarez and the teenager, who is also from Haiti, had been living at the shelter since October but did not know each other before the incident. Alvarez told officers that he had been trying to fix the girl’s iPad.
After his arrest, Alvarez pled not guilty to charges of aggravated child rape and rape of a child with force. He was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which occurred last week. At the hearing, prosecutors asked the judge to keep Alvarez detained pending trial or, in the alternative, set bail at $25,000 (some reports say $10,000). Instead, the judge released the defendant on $500 cash bail, but conditioned Mr. Alvarez’s release on wearing a GPS monitoring device, home confinement, and surrendering his passport, among other things.
