It’s going to be an awful lot more $ after you add the a la carte S model (which is dual-turbo) upgrade, off-road package, air suspension lift capability, front and rear skid plates, tow package, driver assist package to get the forward video cam, roof rails, etc. I came up with USD 100,000 for just the base Cayenne so equipped, and over USD 110,000 for the S model so equipped using the Porsche.com configurator. If you spend that much, you might as well spend more for a set of off-road wheels and all-terrain tires. And of course paint protective film to take the brunt of the bush pin-striping. You’d get a 4 year warranty, but after 5 years your resale value would be less than 50% and most of the extra option costs would have to be written off. Money aside, you still have somewhat limited departure angle, wheel wells made for just 30 inch diameter tires, almost nonexistent off-roading aftermarket accessories, no real 4WD low range, and sparse availability of qualified mechanics and spare parts. Not to mention the constant fear factor of f-ing up something that probably costs more than your first house did. On the other hand, just can’t stop thinking about it. Maybe I need a 12-step program or something.

To get the locking rear diff you have to add on the USD 1,500 Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), which is not even available on the base model, so you have to start with the S model, itself USD 17,500 more than the base. BTW, you will never see a spec Cayenne in a showroom with all these off-road features, so you have to special order it to your exact spec’s. At least you get what you want and make your own decisions about what to leave out - for example sport Chrono pkg, interior features (more leather, carbon fiber or brushed aluminum, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel), etc. It would be easy to add 10 to 20 thou more to get an even more capable and (from your own personalized perspective) beautiful and comfortable Porsche. I’ll let you know when I find the 12 step counselors.
4WD Magazine PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong, but it appears that all-terrain wheels/tires are simply not available for the 2019 Cayenne. The factory wheel sizes start at 19” and furthermore are wider in rear than in front. The brake calipers are too big for an 18” with a taller AT sidewall, and nobody makes 19” or 20” AT tires that will fit in the Cayenne wheelwell. Odd for a vehicle that is supposed to be able to be all spec’d up for off road.
Few people are aware of how capable the Cayenne is straight from the factory. Put some competent tires on it and it will leave for dead many more overhyped SUVs like Toyota or Jeep. Yes, it is not a professional off roader, but when it comes to standard, factory built SUVs it's at least in top 3 if not the best if you consider SUVs have to behave properly on the highway or alpine roads too. My favorite is the Cayenne Diesel S, even if I don't have to tow an Airbus 380. Did I mention the quality and reliability ? I want one, perfect family car and winter beater.
Flyfishing and small game hunting 6 months of the year, big game hunting and winter wonderland the other 6 months. I am on my 4th Cayenne in 15 years; 2 Ss then a Turbo. Did a little detour to a Macan Turbo, got the "go fast truck" out of my system. Now back with a Cayenne and no more than the base engine, rest optioned to all hell. All of them have been on trails. The massive transfer case and low gear of the first Gen was a monster, but the current gen intelligent systems still beat it for maintaining traction.
I recently got a 2012 Cayenne S for about 27K US with 42K miles. I got it to tow a camper. I got the OEM hitch package online and it installed relatively easily. I did have to take it to a dealership to program the tow module, but hey.. lot cheaper than paying for the full install... And towing the 4000 pound trailer, without the trailer brakes working (because I hadn't been to the dealership yet) .... it was STILL doable! The seller had to sell it NOW... I look forward to how it works with the fully functioning wiring, so the trailer brakes can help. So long story short I like it! It isn't my 2008 Audi S6 with a V10... but at least I can tow with it... haha. Going to "try" to live a dream, and see the country. I get my VA disability if I am in my basement, or out at a National Park.... Oh, and I mortgaged the house to finance the SUV and Camper... I am not rich... just wily like a fox lol (less than 3% interest)

I've been thinking about trading in my 2018 Colorado Crew Cab 4x4 on one. Surprisingly I can get a 2016 Cayenne S with 50k miles for just a couple thousand more then the trade in value of my truck. Needless to say trucks are overpriced for what they are.
The best is buy a good barely used Porsche Cayenne from a wealthy suburban family. I bought a used Cayenne S with air and off-road ready for $31K. It is awesome. I tow a trailer and go off-road in BC. Put good off-road tires on it and it's amazing. And like the host said, on the highway and city after the trails, it's an amazing sporty SUV/car. Love it. Great review. Now I would like to get more off-road parts for it. bush guard, Skid plates etc.
I have bought a Cayenne Turbo, but I don't think it can handle thick mud. It got bogged! I then tried it on the same type of surface sad in the video and it actually worked! No more shopping for Mercs and BMWs I am staying with Porsche thank you very much!
