Great video, Hunter! The setup for the outside summer garage looks fantastic, especially with those 275-gallon totes! I can’t wait to see the jewel cichlids thrive in their new environment!
the pond isn't really a sump or filter. its just to catch all the waste water and pull out nutrients before the water is absorbed back into the earth and goes back into the aquifers we pull the clean water from. We do not use the pond for raising fish or filtering. its merely for viewing enjoyment and to contain our water and fish that exit the fish house.
Awesome setup guys it's amazing to see all the fish in your pond doing so well. Would like to see at what speed the fry will be growing when they are all outside in the sun!
This is such a great idea. Instead of having them in ponds , you control the biological environment much better. Nice to see a new video. Be careful with leaving the tops open. Raccoons will eat your fish so will birds of prey. 😘🍀
A video of how u set this up tanks plumbing and links to where u got your parts and the air machine would be fantastic any information about it would be great.
Sorry iI had to look it up you have about 2 years of direct sunlight befour the plastic brakes down there not made with uv products in them you might want to put up a sun shade to extend the life of the totes or paint them
Some of them yes. The ones for the outside growout are uncycled. We don't have to worry about ammonia spikes in them because those vats are getting close to 100% water changes everyday from a continual drip system.
we breed year round in our main facilities... this is just a SUMMER only growout.. late spring we move some juvies out here and let the natural sun and warmth grow them for us.. Space is always limited when you breed as many species as wee do so this helps during that time.
Depends on what size they are and how big you want to get them. The less crowded they are, the faster they will grow. For a 275g tote, I usually put around 100-200 fish 1.5-2.5" and it takes a few months before they are 3-4" depending on water temp and how much I feed.

Don't expect it to last real long being exposed to the elements / uv
Great job👍

We have a mesh cloth that covers each tank to prevent any predators and debris from getting in.
@@ronscichlids I should have known you would be on top of the situation. 💋🍀
Really cool
Very Impressive 👍🏽🐠
Looks great
Is it possible for you to put a link where you buy the blue valves thanks in advance I really like the set up
A video of how u set this up tanks plumbing and links to where u got your parts and the air machine would be fantastic any information about it would be great.
Sorry if you mentioned it and i missed it where do you get your water from that pond as well?
Water comes from a dedicated well for the facilities
IBC Tank 1000Liter right ?
Nice
Do u plan to cover them to keep the critters out?
Yes, already did.
Awesome set up. Are you concerned about birds eating the fish.
No, in the video, you can see there is a black fabric that is above all the totes that is used to cover them.
@@ronscichlids oh ok.
Looks good! What are the blue valves yall use for the airlines?
those valves are for air or water. made by pentair
Ice setup!
:[Super awesome job bro].🛡
Are you planning on putting a shade cloth over the tubs to control the algae?
Yes, we already added one. If you look at the thumbnail of the video you can see the black cloth. It drapes over each vat.
How do u control the green algae?
it does not get as bad as you would think due to 100-200% new water going thru each tank daily..
🔥🔥🔥
How about growing your own fish food ?
Is the water treated at all before the drip?
No.. straight from the well 8.0 PH very hard Water.. Perfect for the African Cichlids we raise
Where do you get the totes from? I can't find them anywhere
Someone local. Hard to find good ones that aren't overpriced.
Craigslist and fb marketplace.
Wont the sun make the plastic brittle on the top?
Nope
Sorry iI had to look it up you have about 2 years of direct sunlight befour the plastic brakes down there not made with uv products in them you might want to put up a sun shade to extend the life of the totes or paint them
How you keep your water so clear?
100% water changes from our drip system every day.
do you precycle the filters?
Some of them yes. The ones for the outside growout are uncycled. We don't have to worry about ammonia spikes in them because those vats are getting close to 100% water changes everyday from a continual drip system.
I would like to visit your facility, is that possible?
Yes, by appointment only.
how many fish per tank?
25-150 depending on the species
So u just dont breed in winter?
we breed year round in our main facilities... this is just a SUMMER only growout.. late spring we move some juvies out here and let the natural sun and warmth grow them for us.. Space is always limited when you breed as many species as wee do so this helps during that time.
Bro how much fish can i put in these tanks to grow out
