I live in NZ. I’m laughing. First, you could not build within 1.5m of your neighbours property, even with permission. To build something that big you would need planning permission, resource consents and consent from the neighbours. It would need approval. All this would cost$$$. Then, if you could find a contractor, you would have to get the plumbing and electrics done by licensed companies and get it signed off. You would also have to get fencing - the approved safety, child proof and safety gated fencing, fitted all around and signed off. And don’t think you can get around it. The council regularly sends little drones up and around, just to do “ roading checks” - in reality checks on all those consents that have been submitted, just to make sure they have not been posted after work done. I had a chicken coop, it was quite legal and within all parameters- but the guy at the counter said “ oh yes, Mrs P, I can see your coop here, it looks fine…” . I burst out laughing. Beaurocracy eh?

Oh believe me, this wouldn't fly where I live in the US either. My small city allows homeowners to have a few chickens but the coops and breed are quite regulated.
