Massive Jack Stauber fan here (that being said I still haven't heard Micropop), I think his popualarity is kind of one of those situations where it's great that so many people have heard him, but at the same time it loses the sort of "underground" nature it used to have. I honestly prefer lots of his work made before 2018 (the year he started blowing up) than the stuff afterwards, even though that stuff is more recognisably "Stauber". The UA-cam exclusive songs "October" and "Tenderly" for example both have this certain nostalgia to them that a lot of his later work has less of, October would fit right in on Sung Tongs by Animal Collective, and Tenderly has this other form of painful nostalgia that I can't even explain.
For all of you Jack Stauber fans that haven't heard Viator yet, go listen to it. If you already love Viator, go listen to Sung Tongs, it's an incredible album (despite that one lyric that is incredibly "of its time").

Jack Stauber is intrinsically ingrained into internet culture by this point. Even if you don’t know his name, you know his songs. It’s a phenomenon. I properly discovered him in 2020 when Baby Hotline and Buttercup were exploding in popularity and I got really attached to his music (although I first heard Peppermint in 2019).
