Even though this was the second episode where we see the villains working together, it's too bad we didn't get to see more of that, especially in the finale.

That panic-stricken pony going on about the weather. Looks like Sam Vincent has done it again by channeling his inner Double-D with this character.
He's always either a character that easily panics or is intellectual.

Notice in this episode that when Tirek took magic from the ponies, their cutie marks didn't disappear. I don't think that was in error. I think either, he purposefully didn't take all their magic or he wasn't strong enough to take all their magic. Either way it was definitely on purpose.

Kind of dissapointed with the "We're retiring so lets end the summer sun festival" myself. Sure it has meanings to them but as we see from Twilight's rebranding it means a lot to other ponies as well. However it began it no longer is just theirs but all of Equestria's. Not to mention the fact that given most of Equetria's traditions probably tie back to Celestia's period of rule you would need to end most of it if you use the arguments given.
Also a shame that no one even suspects the villains especially as one guard SAW Tirek before having his magic drained.
