Honestly, they should have kept that text font in all of the follow-up revisions. It was unique looking. Not sure why they decided to use that plain Arial-type font.
(7:01) Shinnok is not the final boss in this version, despite, he is the main villain. The final boss should have been Corrupted Shinnok from MK Subzero Mythology.
I long suspected Midway simply made everything run faster to speed up the gameplay though it broke all the win pose animations. The height of laziness. This beta runs at a more normal speed and the animations aren't as goofy looking
Any luck on locating the MK4 Road Tour versions or cabinets? I remember playing it at Aladdin’s Castle in Chicago in 1997. It had four question marks in the fighter select screen. Noob Saibot was on the roster. Some of the faces were different. I played as Sub Zero.
"MK Meta Mortal Kombat 4" video on YT shows as much footage possible on that, pretty interesting stuff. You are a lucky fella that was able to play that! Envy
@@radiantansel202 just saw the video you mentioned. That one appears to be an earlier build since it has only nine characters and six questions marks. The one I played had eleven characters and four question marks. I remember Reptile was one of the new ones. I also recall when playing as sub-zero I was able to draw my weapon which was the axe that was given to Reptile in the final build. I even did that spin move he does and I had no idea how I did any of that. The freeze move and the ice clone were the same moves as MK3 so it was easier to do those.
And in retrospect I should have selected Noon Saibot as that would’ve been the one and only time in my life playing as Noob Saibot in an arcade version of MK4. Of course I did not know then that he would be replaced with Reiko.
@@radiantansel202 I'm 99% sure I've seen a footage of this version here in this channel. But tried to find the video to no luck. Maybe my memory is betraying me.
Apart from the Shinnok not being a boss thing, I actually prefer the way the towers are laid out on the choose your destiny screen in this version, plus I also prefer that font.
Is this the version where if you freeze reptile with subzero he doesn't fully freeze only his body and not his head and he can still move and has to be froze twice? They released beta versions in arcades out here in AZ to test the game and this is how it was.
I still have MK4 for ps1 and the arcade version looks so much better, i can't believe it. i want this game so bad for PC in this visual form or even current generation consoles.
Do you know that there's a code in the PlayStation version that you can assign to a character to have any character do any other characters fatality so you can make Liu Kang do Quan Chi fatality
Somewhere somebody has the ROM for it it will surface soon I'm sure of it just look at what they did with Primal Rage to the game that nobody thought anyone would ever play now the ROM is completely playable
kinda hard to tell but is that the monitor for the cabinet or a tube tv? it'd be cool to play this on a HDTV but interesting shit i've never seen this revision anywhe at all how much did you get this for?
@kaihedgie Mortal Kombat 4 Version 1.0 was only released in some locations, but after the success of Version 1.0, Midway releasing Mortal Kombat 4 in most locations, this time with Version 2.0, the final version in most locations, Version 3.0, is released one year later.
That is a super cool find. Laughed my butt off at the "good job" at the end. Do all the characters have scorpions stance when walking? I noticed quan chi and shinnok do.
What annoyed me the most about MK4 was the way the characters moved and looked. Tekken 1 and 2, as well as Soul edge and Street Fighter EX had all come out earlier. In those games the models all had their own movement and behaviour. So why in MK4 all the models had shared movement during a win pose in beyond me. This took away from this game.
Honestly, they should have kept that text font in all of the follow-up revisions. It was unique looking. Not sure why they decided to use that plain Arial-type font.
I totally agree
Man, your videos are a huge contribution to the MK community.
(7:01) Shinnok is not the final boss in this version, despite, he is the main villain. The final boss should have been Corrupted Shinnok from MK Subzero Mythology.
The final boss should have been Shinnok with his own moveset instead of stealing others movesets
I also noticed Shinnok never said "Restero Faraffas!" whenever you did the stomping grab.
Sub-Zero doesn't have the scar on his face that's strange
Different music for the stage where it is raining on top of the tower or whatever
LOL is that what he says ? Restero Faraffas?
You are the only one on UA-cam who can bring MK4 Playtroughs with quality, please make a Sub-Zero one!
That's the proper way to pronounce shinnok's name
MK4's continue screen is scary as hell.

They should have left it like this
That text is so much better in this version as opposed to the final version
Different pose for Quan Chi's win animation
It's a 13" Wells Gardner arcade monitor.
Seems like max damage is not implemented or is implemented differently here.
It was not impement till V3 i think, V1 doesn't have one for sure.
liu kang's biycyle kick should be forward, forward LK in this one (or rev 2.0)
Is this the version where if you freeze reptile with subzero he doesn't fully freeze only his body and not his head and he can still move and has to be froze twice? They released beta versions in arcades out here in AZ to test the game and this is how it was.
Does anyone know why I changed the music in the second scene, I like this version better
I still have MK4 for ps1 and the arcade version looks so much better, i can't believe it. i want this game so bad for PC in this visual form or even current generation consoles.

Where's the road test beta version with Noob Saibot as a selectable character
That’s the great question.
I only ask great questions it is my name of course
Somewhere somebody has the ROM for it it will surface soon I'm sure of it just look at what they did with Primal Rage to the game that nobody thought anyone would ever play now the ROM is completely playable
You'll find it MK arcade source I'm sure of it that is the most valuable MK 4 ROM version
I have to also point something out did you notice that Sub-Zero doesn't have the scar in the character selection screen
Sub Zero misses his tattoo lol
Mortal Kombat IV revision 1.0 is a beta version is what I really like to get
The road test beta is the rarest
we should use this type of CRT monitor for best results right? old model
I like that Elder Gods theme way better in this version than in the final version
The Only had the Fatalities is Sub Zero and Shinnok adn the stage fatality
Really?
The text was also different...Where's Liu Kang's beta outfit??
This isn't technically the beta version.
I reinstalled 2.1 in my MK3. I need to re-burn the 1.0 MK3 roms. Give me some time. I may just capture it in Mame.
Only the original Beta test arcade version and the home version. All the normal arcade versions (1.0, 2.0, 3.0) never had Noob or Goro.
I wish they would have kept that theme for that stage with the face in the background it sounds much better
Are you serious not at the arcade versions had Goro in it
He's only playable on the home ports.
NooB Saibot or Belokk in mk gold rumor has it that his skin is hidden somewhere in the game files in the Dreamcast version
That's how you truly pronounce Shinnok's name
its not a different picture of Quan Chi thats the same picture but the final version is mirrored
Raidens Victory stance looks different, plus they changed the theme on the rain stage
Es verdad,es diferente la musica de la etapa del dragon
In wich version from MK4 he is a playable character?
Thanks for posting this. I love videos like these showing the differences in revisions.
Great Job!
How were these revisions updated? Changing The entire motherboard?
the last version for arcade is 3.revision 3
MUHAMMET MÜCAHİT AYDIN 1998.
Only if any chance to find any early beta version of the game (road tour or after builds)
with noobs saibot.it would be rare as world peace.
What is about the Mortal Kombat 4 Revision 2
kinda hard to tell but is that the monitor for the cabinet or a tube tv? it'd be cool to play this on a HDTV but interesting shit i've never seen this revision anywhe at all how much did you get this for?
7:41 caught me off guard
This guy was lucky to found some good stuff
I played this version in the arcade before.
The PC Version has the same polygon count as the console versions
@kaihedgie Mortal Kombat 4 Version 1.0 was only released in some locations, but after the success of Version 1.0, Midway releasing Mortal Kombat 4 in most locations, this time with Version 2.0, the final version in most locations, Version 3.0, is released one year later.
Please keep doing the MK4 playtrought!!!!!
I get it revision of Mortal Kombat IV was revision 3.0 PCB
5:18 beautiful music 😍😍😍
It was released on the OST. Look for a track named "The Eldest Gods."
They should have kept that theme in the game I don't know why they took it out
this version have a rom file?
That is a super cool find. Laughed my butt off at the "good job" at the end. Do all the characters have scorpions stance when walking? I noticed quan chi and shinnok do.
Was this the last version of MK4 that came out for the arcade??
no maximum damage?
there is MAXIMUM DAMAGE
It's kind of weird watching a naked CRT without its shell.
Was this a test board ? Odd to release a game so unfinished specially an mk game
BIGGIEDEVIL It was, for touring demos. Revision 2 was the initial release.
They also say raidens name diffrent
Really
thanks for replying!!
The loading time kinda reminds me of the playstation version.
Just when i thought the upper cut thing was funny then came lui kang moonwalking lol good stuff not done yet
OMG....Mortal Kombat without fatalities.......thats scary!!
Lol... quite eerie ...bizarro world
Ouououououou standing
The text was better IMO
Because that's the way that you're supposed to pronounce shinnok
uhhh i saw shinnok in novice and warrior or beginner tower so you must be lying.
They should have kept Raidens victory pose
5.33 i like that theme better for that stage
I'm really enjyoing these MK4 gameplays :)
Best Mk game ever
Great job!
haha I see... Sorry x.x ; can you do a playthrough on Master II of this version? *0*
Midway was still new to the 3D fighting game era at the time.
Smaller team, smaller budget
Quan chi is looking the other way on ps1 game just checked it .
glad it works for ya.
This is a real Mortal Kombat game not the shit** that they made after this none of those games count like deception and all that garbage
great job:))))))))))))))))) :DDDDD
I am Great
Literally
well, some different things are better for MK4 i can say the names of winner of rounds and more..
02:30
Noob is not playable on this version. Sorry.
They should have left the tower selection screen like that with the towers further back
this game is emulated
It's not emulated. It's running on genuine hardware
as you do that there is a console that lets you play Mortal Kombat 4 Arcade Revision 1.0
Toca el Piano
Nocke Ghetto
Haha it said "great job."
subzero, shinnOK
That's so fucking cheap why couldn't they give Shinnok his own moveset instead of just pulling a Shang tsung
the best version mortal kombat 4 is arcade.not pc or ps1
Mk gold is
mk4 sucks the beginning of the end for the franchise.
What the fuck are you talking about Mortal Kombat 4 was the best of all
The game is vety fun to play been the first mk played in my childhood
6:01 better music
