Damen really did Kenway right, I'd have trouble not geeking out over him either 😂
Not Magic related but I LOVE Rachel’s hair in this!
But her hair *is* magic.
I agree. The color has been showing for some time and this is a fantastic style change!
It was the first thing to catch my eye as well! Looking beautiful Rachel!
Was going to say the exact same thing
I agree. She's rocking that look and the style and colour look MAGIC❤
Kassandra Eagle Bearer, Bureau Headmaster, The Spear of Leonidas and Brotherhood Regalia are slam dunks for equipment decks with boros. Crystal Skull is a second Mystic Forge for artifact decks with blue.
The reprints of black marker connections, recconnasaince, sword of feast and famine and sword of light and shadow are also appreciated!
Sword of light and shadow* but yes, these are the cards for sure
My brother loves assassin’s creed so I’m going to try and get him into magic by getting him an assassin’s commander deck with this set
Nice !
My buddy got me into magic with the doctor who set lol so it might just work
i love this idea! they also made assassin’s creed beginner 60 cards precons. i think those might be better, commander is really confusing for a new player lol
Shame they didn’t make precons
@@billygregory1547 thought they would, they would have flown off the shelves
Whaaaaaaat, no mention of Alexios? The "we kinda balanced Slicer but just barely if you squint" red KING?
My friends has been playing Alexios on tabletop simulator and it's basically just as bad if you don't remove it. If it has indestructible it's basically gg
I gotta say y’all’s production team and the design/layout of your channel is so good. It’s like espn for commander, it has the games and the analysis panels. Seriously a network tv level production y’all have going on you’ve seriously cultivated some talent here
I foresee many Ezio decks going for added flash speed tech just to flash in Ramses with Ezio trigger on the stack.
Putting Viewpoint Synchonization into Sigarda, Font of Blessings. The deck needs a ton of ramp after she drops so that you can cast as many Angels/Humans off the top, per turn, as possible, while thinning the lands out
Damen. WE NEED THE SEA SHANTY PLAYLIST.
Viewpoint synchronization works very well with Frodo adventurous hobbit! He chips in very reliably as a 2 mana 1/3 with pseudo-skulk. Reminds me of that scene in the extended edition where Frodo was freerunning on the rooftops of Florence before jumping into a haystack
I loved when Cleopatra helped toss the ring into Mount doom
My favorite commander I've found for the Templar Kinghts so far is Kwende, Pride of Femeref. Gives creatures with first strike, double strike. Tutor up Akroma's memorial (which gives your creatures first strike) and you're suddenly swinging for A LOT more damage.
Templar Knights want Dolmen Gate too. It's the GOAT whenever you need to attack with any X/1
Or Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant, which is basically Dolmen Gate in the command zone. Curves well too, random junk on 1, knight on 2, rune-tail on 3, knight's two and three on 4.
Lets you have a presence in the early game too, being able to attack freely and still hold up blockers, instead of just siting around hoping a stiff breeze doesn't take out your knights.
I view ramp a little differently to you guys. I think of it less as ramping into your commander and more as ramping to have a good amount of mana available to play your deck. It's not just about getting to your commander as quickly as possible; it's more about getting to enough mana to win, which usually means getting to at least 7+ mana so you can cast big things, or multiple spells, or some threats whilst holding up interaction/protection.
Huh, I just realized you can generate treasure with Edward by simply crewing a vehicle with an Assassin/Pirate without attacking...
Sakrates also works great in arcades as a defender as well to control some of the fighting. However, I can see this card being better as a commander but flexible in other decks.
Honestly yea. I was curious of other good cards to build Arcades instead of just really high toughness
People buy singles, don't buy this expensive 7 card boosters, don't support this product.
Unfortunately the singles are very expensive due to the product being bad and maybe not much sold
sort of a crime not to mention Landfall with Viewpoint Synchnization. with some commanders, that extra 2 (maybe 3) triggers would feel awesome. specially in budget lists
Also, I see Escape Detection as a tempo piece, not a combat trigger or a defensive card. Having my tiny commander or changeling hit and then have their big threat bounced, (effectively undoing their last turn big setup) is going to feel awesome, specially when they think I was just poking their life total.
Escape Detection - First Strike at instant speed
also,
Viewpoint Synchronization - Trample early commander etc.
I think a great include in the Ezio deck would be Morophon, the Boundless. A 6/6 assassin that pumps your other assassins and makes them easier to cast with only black Mana if your commander dies. Morophon can even be cast with only black Mana their self in a pinch!
Cyber ship from Dr who is so good with kenway too. Steal cards to turn them into your soldiers! Lol
“Upgrading is compulsory, me hearties.”
I could listen Rachel talk about magic forever, always so insightful 🙏💜
I do have a deck that Viwpoint Synchronization would work well for: a Virtus the Veiled / Gorm the Great deck. There are a number of things to "ramp into" after a commander is out, including protection for the very expensive commander tax resulting after a board wipe.
1:04:17 I love how the pirate that gets him to join an assassin guild is "a good influence" 😆
Basim seems like a great Voltron Equipment commander. Doesn't need protection from creature and can't be blocked stuff too.
You mentioned it for Leonardo da Vinci, but I'd also recommend Grazz, Unstoppable Juggernaut as a fun tutor target for a Templar Knights deck. Immediately turns your attacking 3/1s into 5/3 JuggerKnights!
Viewpoint Synchronization could work in aggressive-commander landfall decks
When I think “blue and black Equipment.”
I think of how many times my Etrata Deadly fugitive deck has been absolutely rolled by the sword of Once and future.
Escape Detection could be nice if you're running Thoracle Drmonic Consultation lines. Let's you get Thoracle back to your hand if your opponents countered the consultation
Can’t wait to add Cleopatra to my Skullbriar deck.
Edit: Also Viewpoint Synchronization goes great there, since Skullbriar almost always comes out on 2 and it helps you get you defensive tools online.
Something with Gerard in a Havi deck you didn’t mention; the ability does not require that Gerrard is exiled for the ability to work. If you have a sacrifice outlet and a legend with mana value 5 or greater (you’ll at least have Havi at 6, for this), you can reanimate Gerrard before his ability exiles himself, causing it to… not.
This is an infinite combo.
Edit: even without a sacrifice outlet, having Gerrard and any legend mv 5+ makes you very nearly immune to board wipes by stacking the triggers to make Gerrard come back out before his ability resolves, which will then bring back everyone else.
Viewpoint Synchronization is PERFECT for a landfall deck. Don't know of any commanders off the top of my head but it would fit in well with that archetype.
Im torn between building either Edward Kenway as a vehicle/pirate deck or Altaïr as an Assassin typal deck.
Por que no los dos?
Got Ezio in the second pack I cracked which works because I fully intended on making him for Assassin typal. Debating if I wanna stay on flavor (considering I was able to brew it entirely from a booster box and a bundle aside from landbase) or adding some outlaw matters cards
Damen quoting Blackbeard at the end was awesome.
I built an Edward Kenway deck mostly from like 60% of the pirate precons from ixalan and threw in cards from AC with some vehicles
I absolutely love hearing him nerd out over black flag as a fan of the game
Reconnaissance or similar card like Ebony horse that can pull attackers out of combat will help Templar Knight tactics
New excalibur was made for Basim. You have to include it in his deck.
Havi just might as well be a Jodah deck, which isn’t worried about jumping through a hoop of filling the graveyard. A good Jodah deck should be running the legendary creature resiliency package also.
Some other good cards I thought about for Cleopatra are Arwen, Weaver of Hope or including Cleopatra in your 99 in a Korvold deck.
I chose ramses as a budget build a little over a year ago and it's really nice to see the support. I started changing it to cedh around mkm but haven't had much opportunity to check it out. Still need a few cards, lol.
I'm running Senu as my new mono white commander. Once he's on the board, and doesn't have SS, then you're basically not paying commander tax. If you have Hero's Blade on the board, he's out of nowhere 5 commander damage whenever he comes in and it incredibly hard to get rid of. Played him today and he was so annoying for my opponents to deal with.
You could buy the Ixalan Pirates Precon, swap the commander with Edward Kenway and add about 10 vehicles and youre good to go
Cleo-hapatra is awesome. Generous Patron seems like a no-brainer in this deck. And it needs a reprint 🤗
My Chevill deck got a lot of fun new toys with this set
I am thinking viewpoint synchronization would be great for ezio since he is wubrg but only black as cmc...maybe i need more basics for my ability to trigger or to get some other color cards out
For those budget-minded players out there not liking the price of Kodama of the West Tree, a good alternative is Pridemalkin. It doesn't fetch you lands, but it does give all creatures you have with +1/+1 counters trample. It also has a synergistic etb for the strategy.
To answer your question about what deck could possibly run viewpoint synchronization: I think my Kiora, sovereign of the deep deck would like it. Because that deck can always use more lands in play because what's better than one 8 mana sea monster? Two 8 mana sea monsters! And my 4/5 vigilant commander can usually do combat damage to someone because people don't like chump blocking with their utility creatures and/or would rather block the 9/9 kraken that's also coming their way. And if I can't get her to connect that deck can usually afford to pay the 5 mana so it's rarely a completely dead card
Free running cards could be good in partner or doctors companion decks where one partner is very cheap. I think that would be the place for viewpoint syncro.
Escape detention works with first strike/double strike
Viewpoint Synchronization in an Omo deck ... Lands matter.
I mostly ramp past Omo into big stuf, so I might try to run it :-)
I feel like they undersold exactly how difficult it is going to be to deal with a Havi deck once he is out. Board wipes are going to kill only your highest cmc creature (that isn't indestructible) if you've set them up sequentially and allow you to reshuffle your board if your graveyard is full of options, same as how Orah interacts with them. Graveyard hate is your friend
Viewpoint Synchronisation is going to be excellent in Wilson / Raised by Giants. Play Wilson on turn 2, ramp twice on turn 3 after Wilson has hit for 2, then get out Raised by Giants on turn 4 and start hitting for 10 damage, and then play out the rest of the Wilson buffs etc.
It's so interesting to hear what you guys find as "powerful"
Basim would really enjoy using the Wand of Orcus.
Viewpoint Synchronization with Changeling Outcast.
Viewpoint synchpnization is gonna be good in my Bristly Bill Voltron
You don't have decks that want ramp after you play your commander?
Made a huge order on card kingdom this week and used yalls code I hope it helps! Your my favorite commander channel 💕💕💕
I love and can relate to how Damen described the story and flavour of Edward. I never thought I'd ever be making a pirate commander deck but now I have to! Black Flag was my favourite childhood game and Edward is the best.
I see viewpoint synchronization as an early mana fixing of your commanders that are 3 or more colors. Like ezio, early commander than needs to find his colors to close out the game
Spending fifteen minutes discussing an unblockable Dimir historic-matters Voltron commander without mentioning how absurdly well Vorpal Blade fits with him must violate some international law.
The Templar Knight strategy becomes somewhat less bad if you run things like Dolmen Gate, Rune-Tail and (especially) Iroas, God of Victory. Rune Warleader's Call is good as well. All are playable with either Eowyn and the other Jeskai options mentioned in the video, or with Samut. Is it good? Probably not, in terms of the payoff you get from jumping through a lot of hoops, but it might be fun, and in Commander, fun is better than good.
I have only played one Assassins Creed game and its Odessey that AC fans weren't happy with. But I do have an assassin deck, sort of, its Etrata, the silencer which makes those freerunning cards very good, even that strange bounce spell. Although I am mostly happy about the reprints making it easier for me to get some rare cards like reconassaince.
Hey guys. I’d love it if you could genuinely take some time to review the idea of returning to “Banned as Commander”, specifically for the case of unbanning Lutri, The Spellchaser for the 99. I think reintroducing the different type of ban would also help in the current power creep that’s been happening. Nadu, Winged Wisdom for sure could do with a ban as commander.
Not to forget: Ramses was reprinted in this set as Basim, Master Assassin
I’d love to see a card called “pitiless petitioner”. You’ll follow the law whether you like it or not
I think Morophon would be a good include in the Ezio deck. Would reduce the Freerunning to 1 black but more importantly it would allow you to hard cast your multicolor Assassins when you either don't have an attack or Ezio gets answered.
I really wished you guys would've talked about The Capitoline Triad
I love the patron shout out. Love the rhythm and that it usually is two voices at the same time. It would be great if the hosts coordinated it so that one says "Caleb" and the other "you rock" without interrupting each other or not knowing who goes next.
Sometimes this part is not coordinated and feels a little awkward.
Sheltering Ancient is peak tech, omigosh
I really love silver shroud costume and brotherhood regalia seems good to double up on unblockable
Thanks for doing this!
The one thing I took away from this set was I was able to get rid of some changlings and shapeshifters for actual assassins in my Etrata Deck
If I put brotherhood regalia on Sauron the dark lord would it have both wars abilities or would the original be replaced?
It would be both
Siguard is the commander I'm most excited for. Bost is a fun mechanic, we just don't have much support for it. Heard baloth and conclave mentor are also good.
sad we didn't get this kind of love for 40k, i needed 8 versions of sleneesh
Viewpoint Synchnization + Bristly Bill, Spine Sower.
turn 2 Commander
turn 3 Attack and get 3 additional lands
I am today years old when I learned Birgi had a second ability.
Biggest Flavour-Fail in this set is that Connor is esper
Senu is the best design in the set and it’s not close.
Escape detection:
politics in a 4 player game
Protect CMD from tax
CMD first strike break through
CMD etb
14:37 I have a Lord of the Rings-Warhammer mashup deck now… Inquisitor Greyfax hunts for the Ring! (she’s good with Nazgul and Ringbearers 😂)
I think I want Viewpoint Synchronization for my Borborygmos and Fblthp deck. It never doesn’t want to be ramping/putting lands in hand and u want B&F to be attacking every turn anyway
Free running is activated with a Commander or any assassin
How about Bumblebee aka Goldbug, Humanitys Allies as a potential Commander for the Templar Knights - hes basically a Dolmen Gate right in the Command Zone for all Humans and he is in Blue which means all the copie type spells are available etc.
Or play him in the 99 and always Tutor Goldbug for the first activation since he is a legendary artifact creature.
viewpoint syn is good for chatterfang and the 5 color ezio where you can get him out on turn 2 easy and use that to ramp into color fixing
damenlenz do you have a link to your Tovolar deck?
There are a lot of cards that should be in this video. When is the review for the rest of the legendary cards at least? Another cool Freerunning card is Distract the Guards, 1+W for three 1/1 creatures. A okay protection card, the Haystack. Almost all the "Assassin" equipment auto equip to a creature the first time it enters the battlefield. Or how about the Colorless artifact that gives you double evasion? Just a few extra cards. The Smoke Bomb I believe will see a lot of play.
Most consistent channel ever
I’m gonna try to do templar knights if it’s the last thing I do
Balsim is going in my arena kennerud skycaptain deck
Cleopatra has a downside in that any legendary dying loses you 2 life regardless of if you drew cards or not. Seems bad.
47:18 Viewpoint Synchronization probably works best with 1 or 2 mana commanders that basically can’t benefit from ramp in terms of how fast they come out. Evasion is a bonus, but you can probably get away with hitting someone who just hasn’t developed a blocker yet.
Grist, Voracious Larva is a good one since Deathtouch can function as a pseudo-evasion, and even if she’s blocked and dies, you’re a reanimate deck anyways and you can revive her to trigger her own flip.
Rhys the Redeemed may not need ramp to be cast, but the activated abilities are so costly that you definitely want ramp to hit those (and your token makers) earlier.
I don’t think Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student works unless you buff her power value above 0, unfortunately.
Valentin, Dean of the Vein has menace, and a mana-hungry triggered ability.
That’s just the 1-mana commanders, but among the 2-mana commanders, Bristly Bill, Gretchen Titchwillow, Jenson Carthalion, Korlessa, maybe Radha, Satsuki, and Targ Nar jump out as being mana-hungry after they come down onto the battlefield.
I dont know If im stupid but the commander could also have a landfall ability which would be triggered twice
Aragorn, King of Freerunning
OG Athreos as a commander for templar knights.
Escape detection with Etrata the Silencer? 😳
Ill try the green freerunning ramp spell in mono G Omnath but other than that this set is kinda mid for me. Either way great show!
Viewpoint Synchronization - Mono Green Omnath?
btw ... bristley bill loves viewpoint syncronization
Nobody gonna mention that assassins creed set reprinted the fun side of slicer? And now slicer decks have 2 active slicers running on the battlefield at the same time.
I left a comment already but I went through my cards and realized SO many non pirate vehicles would be killer in kenway
Smugglers copter
DELUXE DRAGSTER
RMS titanic would be hilarious
And brotherhood vertiberd can get INSANE with all the treasure
