  • Recently I lost a game against this quiet-looking but extremely dangerous system for White against the Caro-Kann. Let's turn a negative experience into a positive one and learn this system so that we can hopefully catch out some unsuspecting players from the White side!

Hi Alex, thank you for the insightful video. Watched it twice yesterday morning and beat a 2000+ rated player with it during a tournament in the evening (I'm 1700). Great result!

Nice work! Glad to hear it went well for you, that's a big scalp.

I've had terrible results against the Caro-Kann, I'll try this system, thanks a lot Alex. Your chess videos, either here or on the ChessFactor channel, are always excellent. Wish you the best.

Wow, you just gave me a 40-year-old flashback. At a national tournament way back when, Arizona master Robert Rowley beat me convincingly with a Caro Kann. During the post mortem, he showed me this idea. I'd forgotten how most of it went, but after watching your video, I'm pretty sure this was the gist of it. I'm gonna have to give this line further study...

I just saw your video on reddit. Subbed immediately! I really appreciate that you take the time to explore different lines and explain why they are good or not. I play the caro myself and have never seen this, and I would probably be lost as well. I will go through your videos to learn more! Thanks :)

Glad to hear this Janzimp, cheers for the comment. Hope you enjoy the series - the coverage is far from exhaustive, but hopefully will give you some cool ideas as an e4 player!

Interesting system for white. As a caro kann player myself, I have never seen this. Great explanations of the typical 'gambit plans' and monster inititative that white often gets in these lines. This is good to know for me as a caro player, so that I will not be surprised if i see it in casual or tournament play. Thanks alex!

For some reason it was such a delicious piece of theory!

Yeah, nothing helps to understand how poisonous a system is than facing it over the board and finding yourself lost in very few moves as happened to me! Still haven't gotten that game out of my head :/

Hahaha. I studied this line to play in a tournament. After I played Nd2 my opponent played g6. The joys of opening study!

4:10 after bishop to C5 isn't Queen to B3 still good?

As a caro player, I face this rarely and when I do, I hate it! Good recommendation!
