As for the mouse - I recommend Tom Cat mouse poison. Place a block of this bait in any car you want to keep rodents out of. They will disappear. For the battery low problems - I got tired of buying batteries, so I installed battery shutoff switches on all my cars. Then when I park one for an extended time (repairs etc.) I just open the switch and the battery stays charged. Advance Auto sells one that is a knife switch and works pretty well! I like the V6 Fiero! It is a crying shame about the rusted out rear suspension. I have built turbo systems for two of these iron-head EFI V6 engines in A-body cars. They respond well to boost!
davida1hiwaaynet Thanks for the tip. I'll look for some of that stuff. Mice are a real problem in my cars -- so help me if they chew up whatever build sheets I have not yet extracted. Does the circuitry in the alternator draw a tiny bit of current? It is strange because the batteries do seem to last longer when I unhook them. I just roasted another battery after leaving it on fast charge for two days -- good thing the car was outside and the hood was open.. How I'd love to have some of that GM ECM tuner knowledge of yours!! I have access to pretty much everything needed to do what you've done....just not the brains :) The 60-degree V6 is a tough little engine... it would be a lot of fun in a Fiero. You would enjoy owning one I'm sure...I'm almost surprised you don't have one already. I actually still have a few at the "farm" near Jasper. If you're interested, I'll sell you one (or more) of them for scrap value. There's some other neat machines there that you might enjoy checking out also if you want to kill a Saturday (when I head down there). All my A-bodies are gone but there's a 3.1 5-speed Sunbird and 2.8 5-speed Corsica hatchback, and a rough X-11.
Franken HateGooPlus Actually, the alternator doesn't draw current unless there is moisture in it, or some other problem causing a resistive short. The radio and ECM have battery power feeds to them which COULD use power. Not sure what sort of parasitic draw they are supposed to have. For battery life and moreso fire safety - I have battery disconnect switches on all my cars. When I park one for more than a few days, I isolate the battery switch. E-mail me next time you come to AL and if I'm in town we'll meet up. Would like to see your place there and old cars etc.
auaiao9 This sounds kind of hard-to-believe, but close to 100 I guess. There are 55 still down in Alabama where I used to live and the rest are up here in NC at my house. A tad ridiculous :) Thanks for asking.
auaiao9 *sigh*, twenty years of can't-let-it-go gets you here... The Fifth-Avenues are nice cars -- very luxurious -- you should check out "the Brougham Society on Facebook". A lot of people over there like Fifth-Avenues!

Thanks for the info!
Water intrusion is the reason why the oil pressure senders keep going bad.
Let me buy this car from you
How many cars do you own?

Franken HateGooPlus That's a lot, more than I expected. I'd like to have an '89 Chrysler Fifth Avenue in good shape of course.

It didn't start cause of the battery?
