  • On this trip out to the Peak District I operate a Czech man pack radio the RF-10 whilst Paul G1WHP operates the Racal VRM5080.
    I'm a licensed amateur radio operator from the United Kingdom. My UA-cam channel features videos focusing on operating portable radio from various locations plus how to videos, tutorials, insights and conversations in the hobby.

    I am from Czech republic and those RF10s are everywhere , we had open frequencies ( something like PMR ) on frequencies around 45MHz so it was great for those old radios but then NATO or something came and said hmm nono 45MHz nono, so many people transfered it into other bands ( 9m and 6m i think ) and those who doesnt ( mainly airsofter which are sometime doing MILSIM MILitary SIMulation ) are still using 45MHz , but with short antennas i dont think they will do much harm.
    We have more old radios from TESLA for example VR22 thats a great radio for 4m or some transfered it into 2m HAM band.
    But great

    Great Video Carl. I love to use my RF-10 also. Great pieces of kit in that big polystyrene block! Really like to see the military radios being used.

    That Intermediate licence callsign is a right mouthful. Is that to encourage you to Full? 🤣
    Thanks for the upload Carl 👍

      Ha yes, wish there was enough time for a 10km walk on my Sunday trip out with radio.

    did you move around that rock when you used the rf10 to work the Shropshire station as it would have blocked your signal looks like a good bit of kit is it better than a 352 radio?

    • @M0SZT
      @M0SZT  4 роки тому

      It's 1 watt compared to the 352 which is 20 I think, but lighter and easier to operate. Yes I walked around the rock, the other station said he heard me lift the static but no more.

      @@kazcat8096 brilliant, I replaced the battery with a lipo battery that fitted neatly in the battery compartment. I may do a video on it.

    Are you a glutton for foul weather radio or did you lose the coin flip or draw the short straw? Good show in any case. Mind your step back down the hill. Keep them coming.

      Cheers Lew this is standard weather, quite enjoyable unless there's a cold sleet blowing in your face.
