I put in my resignation last week, Ive been a CCA for over a year but the hours and pay just wasn't what I needed to support my kids as a single dad, going back to my old career, wanted to thank you for your videos, I've been watching them since before I went to orientation
Appreciate the support 💯
being a cca in a slow office like mine is tough. it doesnt get any better once you become regular. the pay is still shit and the fact it takes 12 years to reach top pay is a travesty
@@eddiew2325 telling me, my office only has 3 city routes
Max respect to Big Vic for at least trying.
Should of waited to see this new contract first
The worst is when they hit you with “Little late ain’t ya?” 😅 on a pivot. I always hit them back with “Well, I had to do my route first.” 😁
Exactly
Congratulations my brother proud of you
As a young, fit man, I respect your hustle and ability. But, please be careful… this job can age you FAST. I have a 16 relay, all walking route. Some of my loops are 30 minutes walking no matter how much mail I have because of the distance. I do not “run.” I move at a manageable pace… one that can preserve my energy and health. Eyes are always scanning, head is on a swivel. I want to make it to retirement without too much damage to my body.
Trust me, I'll be waiting until a decent route pops up. I stretch daily. Eat very healthy. Get at least 7 hours of sleep. I'm doing all I can.
@@MailmanNick I do the same and have also taken advice from a friend that works in a podiatrist’s office… I have changed how I walk, my stride, my gait, my posture etc. I have some inserts for my shoes, too.
@@theRickLC He should be fine if his route isnt mostly hills and homes with three or four sets of stairs to the mailbox. Those routes will kill your knee cartilage. Every old mail carrier I've meet has bad knees due to steps and or a bad hip or bad shoulder due to carrying a satchel full of packages+mail.
Nick I finished my first full route by myself yesterday (they did have it cased up for me by time I arrived! Had 4 trays of DPS. I was super proud of myself as it was only my 5th day on my own. The only negative was the carrier who had the LLV the day before sprayed cologne or after shave in the LLV and the smell was making my nauseous. Not cool when you have shared work spaces!
It'll only get better from here
I completed my shadow day yesterday, walked for 8 hours and absolutely loved the feeling of fresh air. My OJI taught me very patiently. The manager came out to a meeting yesterday and talked about dogs. I'm very sorry to hear that you were attacked by a dog.😅
Part of the job
@@MailmanNick At the end, my OJI gave me a try. After I finished, I accidentally stepped on the dog's popo when I got in the car.🤣😂
@@daasxx137 it happens the smell is infuriating lol
6:09 Nick I go through that all the time! It's like customers do not believe you when you tell them this is all the mail I have for you today! Informed delivery isn't always accurate whatsoever. Especially since it's tax time so you know people aren't playing about those W2's. And I understand it 1000% but still nothing I can do if it wasn't in the DPS for that day. Keep doing your thing...get that money and stay safe out there!
We aren't magicians we can't snap our fingers and mail appears lol
@@MailmanNick And trust and believe some of them would get mad at the fact that we're not magicians lol.
I’m making unassigned reg. On 3/9/23 been a ride as a cca. I’ve struggled, I’ve endured, I’ve contended. Jay H had a great video recently about depression somedays I’ve felt complete sadness. Missing on valuable time watching my kid grow up. I’ve already felt like I missed so much time. The grind of a lifetime. But I will never surrender. ❤
Congrats 🎉
@@MailmanNick Thanks buddy! I’m sorry I comment so much. I just don’t have anybody to talk to or ask advice. You really help us tremendously!
Nick you are a sweetheart to keep delivering after getting bitten. I hope this next week will be better
I hope so
Congratulations nick im starting today my first day of 90 days at cca
Nick, it's great that you have your own route. You can always bid on another route when it becomes vacant and available for bidding. Take the time you need to safely deliver the mail.
I'm always last to leave I don't run anything. I'm waiting for a better route to open up
@@MailmanNick, if you're consistent in your time when delivering your relays, management has no argument for you to pick up the pace. I would always show them the safety memos from upper management if the postmaster(s) or supervisor(s) complained about my office or street time.
Nick broooo,
I’m numero uno on my city’s conversion list brotha!
I commented when I hit my 90th day, gotta comment again. Thank you bro, your videos are like 8 hour days🖤
Almost there 🙏🏻
I hope we get a contract soon !!! Jeez it’s about to be a year in May. Enjoy your 2 days off Nick
Probably by next year. I haven't been losing sleep over it, it's not in my control.
@@MailmanNick agreed . I just wanna know if they combine the 2 tables , will people with 5 years in as a regular be at top scale which would be nice .
@@Chi_Till_I_Die773 that would be nice to top out after 5 years
@@MailmanNick for sure
Management just likes to focus on the deafline rather than communicate how much you did for the day. In Massachusetts i worked no less than 2 weeks in a row. Ut here in California they are struct about not letting hours get high, they will give 2 days off here. Supervisors are just scared about the poom so they focus on that "be back by 630"
Blood Donating helps men. Helps lowers blood pressure and blood viscosity.
You need to get some merch, I'd totally support! Keep grinding, Nick.
Jay h put me on to his friend. Might be selling some in the future
I’m downgrading from T6 5 routes and I start my new route next Saturday been a hustle though I’m glad to head back to one route of course
Less to worry about
@@MailmanNick Absolutely 💯
U just like Pain bruh! 😂.
Pain makes me stronger. Maybe that's from trauma 😂
If your getting too much extra when the mail is heavy get the hang of filling out a 3996 so you can get more time for your route...also you mentioned in some of your swings/relays the houses are very far apart, sounds like its a situation where it would be faster to "Car Hop" (drive/dismount) rather than walk it.
Definitely in certain parts
Plasma? Yeah. Someone told me about that. I went down to the plasma center to check it out. NOPE!!!! Those god damn needles are thick like a Mcdonalds straw. I hate needles.
I hate needles too
@@MailmanNickLOL. Hates needles but has great tattoos!
@@charlieann456 I'd cry when I was a kid getting shots lol
Congratulations.
although im not a carrier at the moment im a almost 21 year old dont know what to to in life and ive been watching your videos for this past month that ive been off. gives me useful insight on a carrier i would possibly pursue;
Doesn't hurt to try
100%, I'm pretty cool with my mailman too I'm gonna catch him tomorrow. Heard in my area they are hiring straight to PTF, but i'd be cool with being a cca too though. @@MailmanNick
Apply and try. You won't know if you're good at this job. I tried and applied 27 years ago and I'm still working for the post office.
@@blue99saturn that’s crazy and i totally agree with you i feel like i need to try more things in life. going to apply very soon
Yeah Dylan. Get in young. Seriously. Save hard. You be retired before 60.
Only a matter of time before management approaches you to begin promoting the business big nick. lol, if it makes sense, why not🏃get it dude!
I've kept more people employed than anyone other than Jay H. They should hire me
🤣 hell yeah dude! Don’t let big J hear ya, 🤣 keep up the great work big dog
Congratulations
If you are working hard post office ,they try to give you more work. If you are working slow or not working they will give you promotion n become supervisor. That's what happened to our post office.
Yeah stay at a safe consistent pace
god bless you nick
I’m a CCA & I gotta work tomorrow & they told me to come in at 6am, I. Normally start at 8am.
Easy money just packages
@@MailmanNick ok, thank you. Cause I was confused.
@@ladylocs7051 maybe coming in early they might have you help organize the packages
Thank you for helping with plasma. Do you get pay for President's Day? Did you get pay for holidays when you were a PTF mail carrier?
Ptfs don't get holiday pay. I get holiday pay tomorrow 👍🏻
@@MailmanNickI remember hearing that PTFs don't get holiday pay. FTR is the the greatest and you done the hard work. Thank you for your holiday.
Question? When you were PTF did you get payed for the regular 8 hours on holidays?
@@lovely31bluprint if I worked it was straight time I believe
How about a little electric scooter, honestly idk , could that help with the walking, or do you have to have hands free at all times?
I'm walking through grass all day
Bout ready to pull them dues my brother. Nationally they ain't doing much for us. At least that we know of. I've held off because locally we have a strong union. Already stopped contributing to the LCPF. You know something is wrong with that picture when your own Steward doesn't contribute to the LCPF.
My local does a lot for me so I can't pull my dues but if you feel that way then maybe you should
@@MailmanNick That's the only thing that's kept me desiring to pay my dues is our local support is so good.
I just made regular on February 10th. Got the T6 spot i wanted.
Congrats 🎉
Congrats
How many relays do you have on your new route ? I have a lady on my route always asking where a specific piece of mail is and I always tell her that I don’t dictate what comes , I just deliver what I have !
12 relays total without breaking it up. 2 schools, 2 church's, and a rec center
@@MailmanNick gotcha that’s not too bad . We have some routes with 24 relays . I only have 13 , I business block and one apartment block . I end up walking about 25-30K steps a day . According to google it’s like 10-12 miles
Do you now have to wear the shoes with the green tag lol? In my office everyone wears them in the office then they switch into more comfortable shoes on the route.
Technically you have to wear postal approved especially if you get injured
With tbe houses being spaced apart would it be better to in and out it its a pain in a promaster but maybe they. An adjust thr time for that loop
There's certain houses that are easy drop offs
@@MailmanNick ok promaster is a pain soon as they gave me one my time Increased on the route I have 4 mounted boxes only but they are on busy streets so I park and walk them but having to go In the back grab the mail and out the cargo door each buisness is nuts
what is better utility string or regular route mail carrier. I dont have much experience after converting to regular full time from ptf and had to bid at a different office for regular route and now I want to bid on a utility string so I can learn more and be helpful to case those other routers when office needs help and what I was thinking of is bid on a utility string and then bid back my old route so when I go on the OT list then I have experience too help case a 2ed route when they need the help.
what is your thoughts on that because what a few of my coworkers told me is our office is finally getting back to normal staffing and I might not be able to get back my old route if I were to bid it back and I know no one else in the office likes my current route since its a full walking route besides a hour of driving business route and I like that route with the business section of it for the winter I got a microwave to heat up my food and to get out of the heat. Half the station has bunch of apartments and mounted routes and the only issue is if someone from a different office bids it that has a higher seniority me I end up losing it. what r your thoughts do I make sense thanks I like herring about how you do your job and all the advise. I am also a city carrier
Whatever is easier on your body you should go after
im close man!
I’m a MHA. I applied for cca. I’m on the prehire list. How does the Gis work?
Probably a week or 2
How many steps are you doing a day on new route Nick ?
Gonna be tracking that soon
Hey man. I just got done with 3 days of oji. i feel like it was not enough hands on training. the first day was like a shadow day 2. 2 ne day i just sat in the back of her truck n cruised around with her. the 3 rd day they watched me but the guy drove. i was put on a split route today and it was my first day by myself. i started to get very overwhelmed with what the different tyoes of mail there is and how to endorse them and properly hamdle them. can you explain the abbreviations on mail and how to handle mail that is undeliverable or does not live there.
It'll come with time it doesn't happen overnight
You can donate blood while on the clock
No way Im working after donating lol
