debit card = if it is your money already that was in the bank. also known as savings account. credit card = you're borrowing money from the bank. this is usually with monthly limit.
@@Niels-3 I'm pretty sure about the difference of debit and credit. What I think you're pertaining about transferring money from your bank is when you have a "prepaid debit card", not a "regular debit card". and about the credit card, I think you're talking about a DUO card, where it functions as debit and credit, as you say when you don't have enough funds, that'll be the time you'll borrow money.. Because applying for a credit card itself, is like applying for a loan.. the bank will give you a monthly credit limit, and you have to pay that amount that you applied for with interest.
@@ivyjavier3234 Correct. Most "debit cards" are "check cards", meaning they function in much the same way as writing a check from your checking account. Savings accounts typically have no cards associated with them (hence "saving" not "spending").

If you wanna know... In Brazil we call Debit card : cartão de débito. Credit card: cartão de crédito. QR code: same as English but with pt accent, lol. And here we use money in general but cards too. (We use cards with everything tho haha)
This was awesome, but I guess I kinda misunderstood the title. I was expecting like how much y'all typically pay for certain things, or currency conversions or something LOL 😂 Great vid tho
Basically... "debit" is amount owed and "credit" is amount received. So a debit card will actually take existing money from your account to pay for things. A credit card will give you that amount to pay for the item without removing money from your account. (You just have to pay it back at a later date.)
@@Esulio What do you use in France if you need to buy something that costs more than you are willing to spend all at once? For example I just hired a company to replace my kitchen countertops for $3000 (2500€). But that is more than my paycheck, so used my credit card to not drain my bank account quickly. I paid $1500 this month and will pay $1519 next month.
@@StalePhishwe can pay little by little (usually over 3 months only, so the paiement is divided in 3 parts). so kinda like a credit, but we still use only one card.
No one asked but wanna say that foreigners CAN use the qr code scanners in China. They mostly use wechat to pay and in wechat (a chatting service, much like line, but has all these extra functions), you can transfer money from one to another v easily. (And there's also this thing abt "snatching red packets"-literal translation) So if you have a chinese friend with an account, you can essentially pay them cash and have them transfer the money to your wechat account beforehand.
I've been watching your channel like crazy for the past few weeks. I want to learn Korean but I find it really hard, but your videos give me motivation. Btw I'm low-key jealous of your friends ahaha. Keep the good work👍
One of the more interesting things about Spanish currency (euros), is that the coins are actually really worth something compared to American coins. For example, 1 euro and 2 euro are only coins. In America you have dollar coins but they are not very common most of the coins are essentially useless, where as here you use a lot of coins for small purchases (like coffee, churros, snacks). Therefore, if you lose your coins, you could easily have lost a lot of money. Also in smaller cities/towns, cards are harder to use (like here in Segovia) the minimum is kind of high and it's just all around easier to use cash. Great video~
In states, people in big cities use mobile payment, like Samsung Pay and Apple Pay. However most people only use credit or debit cards. Venmo is mostly used for sending cash between friends
In Japan I always pay cash, or I use my buscard? Like Pasmo and Suica. You can use those in vending machines and convenient stores , especially in stations. In Europe I use bankcard almost all the time, but also cash if I have any on me. A lot of places are not card friendly. In Belgium, paying by app is rare, but they are trying to implement that through online bank apps and alike
Honestly, more countries should adapt the QR code system. I've lived in China for about 3 years, never have cash on me, never bring my bank card, and you can still pay for everything. Even a small vendor with just a cart will accept wechat or alipay. Apple Pay is becoming more popular in the US, but is limited in its user base. WeChat itself is honestly the app of the future and I wish it was actually possible to use across the world.
all of them: oooh it's so cool to have credit & debit card together! me, a confused european/finn: ... is that a new thing for you? no but honestly it was super interesting to see the differences in these countries. the qr code was the most interesting. in finland we use cash, debit+credit card & different apps, like mobilepay, which is an application that you link your bank account to & can send or receive money via it + pay with wireless or with a qr code.

In Hong Kong, a lot of places you can just use your octopus card (public transport card) to pay for stuff. Just add money on it and you can use it to buy in most places.
And it's faster than credit and debit cards (this includes the Contactless function) as #Octopus #八達通 is processed offline and it uses Sony #FeliCa at 212 kbps (tap time is 100-200 ms) like Japanese public transport cards instead of ISO 14443 which is what Contactless credit and debit cards uses (tap time is 500 ms).
I lived in China for a year and I can confirm that the QR Code culture there is EVERYWHERE. It's like... insane. You, yourself, can even order your own QR Code to connect to the apps (typically WeChat Pay and/or AliPay) so you can immediately have people pay for whatever you're selling. (Yes, street food vendors have it and even random people walking around selling trinkets like balloons and small toys and stuff.) You also send money to your friends this way and it is just SO CONVENIENT. I miss it constantly.

As a foreigner, they restrict your usage to only in China for some reason, despite the fact that you can freely use UnionPay (Chinese VISA/MasterCard) abroad at all locations that accept it.
To all people who doesn't know. QR Code actually originated from Japan. They first used it for Toyota Cars for a quick payment because barcode is slow at responding and then it became really popular overseas.
