How to adjust and use the edge rolling tool.
www.cleavelandtool.com/Edge-Fo...
This is a tool that REALLY WORKS!
Roller shape forms a slightly turned edge on aluminum to assure a tight fit along the joints of overlapping sheets.
Hardened stainless rollers are attached to Vice-Grip handles.
Handle is at a comfortable-to-use angle.
Rollers are adjustable to the aluminum thickness and once set, can be locked to reproduce exact results.
Very controllable.
6 inch overall length
Bend reaches 0.2 inches from edge - Навчання та стиль
We like you, we are happy to have found this video attaching the screws rivets without an after slight bend would leave a gap, your idea helped this small machine shop across the street from the Yucca Valley Airport in the California Mojave Desert solve a question we had about our own work. It the gap was going to be an issue as we are now learning to fabricate aluminum sheet as part of our duties around here.
Great idea for small aircraft. I think most of the dislikes are from people that dont understand the unique issues of riveting sheet metal, especially aluminum sheet metal.
Building my Vans aircraft and it has been a couple years since I used this tool. Thanks for the refresher.
Excellent idea & concept. This little gem of a tool makes the difference between an amateur overlapping join and a professional join especially in thin aluminium sheet. I have used a set of wide jaw (8") friction pliers to archive a similar finish, but usually upon very close inspection (with a magnifying glass) you can see evidence of each 'bite' with the pliers. I will fabricate an identical tool, such as this edge former, next time I 'overlap & rivet'. This tool will be great for edge lapping curved sheets. Many thanks for posting & sharing your knowledge on this video. Kind regards, Michael, Australia.
it's a simple tool to make and while at it I'd recommend setting it up to be able to reach different depths.
Great idea for a smooth no-gap transition between two panels....Thanx
Nice tool, good to see someone thinking out of the box!
Interesting little tool. If I did more sheet work I would buy it.
It's like a mini bead roller that comes with a Ginsu knife set ! Pretty neat !
I still have a ginsu knife
Mine arrived today, bought through Aircraft Engineers Store, very impressed. Greetings from the UK.
Really? I don't know that they carry it. Do you have a link?
@@CleavelandTool Special order, they ordered one in from you at my request.
What do you use it for?
@@Aigentcy Hello Gregory, I use for butt jointed panels in architectural projects.
@@Aigentcy It was designed to put a slight bend on the top skin of an aircraft wing when it overlaps a bottom skin. The bend keeps the seam tight when the rivets are compressed.
beautiful tool and genius Idea.
How do I lean to put a rivet in my vintage Grumman canoe ? Eastwood ?
Super cool!
Interesting tool
nice cool little tool
you just appeared in my youtube. nice tool
I'm from Vietnam, nice to know you're passionate about mechanics 👍👍 let's share experiences together
Cool I know they make bigger ones for doing big jobs we have one at work. Different then that but cool idea for a small setup. Ours was couple hundred dollars 👍🏻👍🏻
Is that DIY tool? Looks cool, and is ok if you do some minor work few times a year, but really if you do have some space around, bead roller machine, that can be mounted on the bench or in vice, would cost very little (100$ maybe), allow to do much more precise forming, on thicker materials, and further from the edge.
what a ... tool, nice!
What's the angle of the bend? Does it actually "press-flatten" the aluminum into that angle (asking for possible stress cracks)? Do you make/sell the tool? Nice video.
Tap on bench loss
I think I over-bent the edge using this tool (had it set too tight?). Can I adjust the tool so it's not as tight and run the edge through it again?
Very Very nice 👌
Hmm. I'm a recycle artist looking for a way to roll edges of cut aluminum cans. Any clues or pointers? Total newbie here. Thanks.
thanks.
wow a that's beautiful finish, I wish a had this for my first lap joint, rudder looks terrible. I ordered one express. How come you don't sell them on aircraftspruce? Thank for producing this tool and video.
Super félicitations
Looks like you are an A&P mechanic . Nice to meet you.
1:55 - he finally starts using it.
I work with metal, i can see this is a great tool
get some wiss sheetmetal tools up 300mm does a quarter onch break and a inch break about 40 bucks worth
That's vary good thanks for your
Thumbs up! For sure!!
Nice tool
I did not know but now I am informed.
where is the result?
Hi i need bug one
Just make your own like the fellow in the video.
Mantap 👍

👍👍
NICE!

pls tell about it expantly
Where can I find this tool?

👍👍👍👍
From iraq well done
But what is the whole purpose?
Why would you boffer? Unable to see any benefit. If you were going to make a radius yes worthwhile.
Good homemade tool but one problem. You need the former wheels .
Сколько стоит? Где купить?
"about like"? which one is it?
That is an awful lot of trouble to go to for just that type of bend, buy a small break machine or take it to a machine shop, they may not even charge for that.
Taking to a shop or purchasing a break is a whole lot more trouble than using this nifty little tool. Also, 'length' is never an issue as it would be with a small break. I think it is a great idea.
I've got about 400 pieces that need their edge rolled on the plane I'm working on.Yes I have a break but not everything fits and to be honest I dont like how far the break bends the part.Lastly there is no way in hell I'd take every part I make to a machine shop lol...................But I actually made my own tool as it's pretty simple on a small lathe ;)
Sure I can spend money on a metal machining lathe and save money. NOT.
Very easy diy tool. Too bad I would never need it
I see stitches in you future ,
That's what I was thinking.
They make mounted tools and machines for this.
This is what for?
Brico, it is to strengthen the edge of that metal piece he is working on so it won't "ripple or oil can between the rivets, when fastened to another piece of metal
@@lendavidhart9710 nice 👍
Or you could just slip your metal in the break and just slightly bend it faster than it took to adjust that contraption...... Hey!!!!! That's a brilliant Idea!!!!!!
How do you use break on curved edges?
How did I get here?.......mmmmmmh
Well now I can finish eating my ranchero Eggs and bacon
Ranchero eggs? Do I have to look under my Ranchero to see if it layed any?

Don't have an aircraft but I still want one.

Hello sir. Can I please have ur email ID as I need your help regarding how to convert 0.30 mm sheet into double thickness sheet like 0.30/0.15mm
It's a damn good thing he didn't actually use the EF-60 Edge Forming tool; there is a ten year federal prison sentence for anyone caught in its use. He is really quite ballsey to even handle this device...
What? Why
I'll just use my bead roller.
من که ندونستم این چی بود
use something simular but better when cutting rustvout of car body
Sorry , I need buy one this
...Good the idea, but little bit poor the video, should show the end result.
Tank you, have a nice day
why did this video get verry much dislike?
Because it's not mechanically practical.
Can only do small pieces of aluminum up to what guage?
For what is the specific application?
@@Aigentcy you're kidding, right? The whole point is that you can do this on pieces too large for a brake or typical bead roller.
Because it`s stupid.
Probably a really good idea to wear some thick gloves or else?
impactajuvenile
omg another uni student and not tradesman !
For example of not doing this, see every Soviet aircraft ever made.

What in the world would you need a tool like that for?
Building aircraft. *Or anything that requires laminar airflow, or low drag, to operate efficiently. An airfoil of any type; airplane wing and fuselage, a hydroplane, or a sterile culture cabinet are examples.
verently myse guewd
Иииииии????
No effect. (
Just buy a bench roll. Simple, and safe. This is what we call a man eater. Save a few hospital visits.

Great tool awful explanation of the tool. I was underwhelmed.
S. Tovar I understood it just fine. You’re just not mechanically inclined. Interior decorating is prolly your forte.
