    I took the Wilton cake decorating beginner course years ago, before the kids were born. The skills have definitely come in handy over the years with two kids, but as they’ve gotten older, they’ve requested ice cream cakes and pies and cheesecakes so my actual cake decorating skills have gotten rusty.
    My daughter turned 16 two weeks ago, she said she wanted one of my homemade buttercream cakes, and I wanted to make it really elegant for such a special occasion.
    But it had been over 5 years since I’d made so much as a buttercream rose (thank Heavens for UA-cam for quick refreshers! 🥵). My daughter cried tears of joy when she saw her beautiful cake, she said it looked like a wedding cake! Lol!
    Anyway, that’s how I stumbled upon your channel (searching for sophisticated cakes), and I’ve been addicted to your videos ever since! I’m utterly gobsmacked and mesmerized watching you work!
    Your skills are waaaay above my pay grade, but you make it look so easy and your videos are explained so well, I feel confident about tempting something like this now, plus you’ve inspired me and given me ideas of my own to expand upon. I can no longer wait until my son’s bday in September, I must create cakes now!!! 🤣💕. Thank you! 🙏💕

      And U used to get excited fir my kids bdays for the same reason. I still get excited, but unfortunately their cakes are not ehat they used to be since I am too busy with other cakes;);)

    I like the addition of the white "flower" it helped tone down all the green a bit (IMHO [in my humble opinion]).

    Stunning cake, as usua!. Question: Using wafer paper as you did on the bottom layer, the effect is beautiful. However, I wonder how this texture would feel in the mouth when eating. Would it be crunchy?

    Oh! That wafer paper idea is amazing! I need to make a quincenera 5 tier cake for my baby in July and I soo wish I lived near you to help me get all the tiers and ideas all together! But...sadly...I'm not your neighbor..sigh.

    This is beautiful ❤️. I love the crushed wafer paper technique ☺️. For the Isomalt, when you put the cake back in the fridge, does it affect the Isomalt?

      Yes it can make it cloudy. So I would just attach them before you present it.

    That looks so unusual great idea with the wafer paper, looks fab love the colours to. Did you use the spray glaze to clear the isomalt.. thanks for all your ideas.

      If you don't use the spray glaze will the isomalt stay sticky,

      In my experience no, unless it is very humid. It is more to keep it from clouding up too much.

      @@sophisticakesbymary Hi Mary, when I made my isomalt bowl I didn't have any glaze to spray on but it got very sticky, as I live in Ireland humidity is rare, so I'm not sure what I did wrong,..Thanks for replying to me. 😄. You make everything look so easy it just shows how talented you really are.

    You are super talented.
    I wanna use your buttercream with cheesecream. I left a comment on your other video sorry I really need your advice lol.
    Would it be ok to add cream cheese to your buttercream and how mucb? I also want to stencil my cakes with the same buttercream. What would u recommend? Thank you in advance...

      Sorry I missed your previous question:( I just have a lot of comments and sometimes I accidentally miss some:( Yes you can add cream cheese. I just add softened cream cheese to the first step when you cream the butter before adding the sugar. Add 2 to 3 blocks. And then just do the recipe as normal. You can stencil with this buttercream. If you want to stencil with the cream cheese version, just make sure that it is fully chilled first.

    i live in a warm climate. want to know how to store isomalt decorations, and when to apply to the cake and after applying on the cake can we put it in the refrigerator. when I tried once they were getting sticky. after a while.

      I keep them in a cool dry environment in a closed container until the cKe comes out of the fridge. They can get gummy and cloudy in the fridge unfortunately. If you make them ahead of time and store them this way, they can still get cloudy. But you can go over them lightly with a torch to help remove that. You can also seal them with confectioners glaze and that helps the stay cleat longer. It is not a product that lasts for long unfortunately.

    If you attach the isomalt with buttercream does the buttercream show through?

      It does not show thru when the isomalt has a deeper color and the background and buttercream are in the same color as the isomalt.
