I saw Annie 4 TIMES during its first national tour in Detroit and gosh countless times since on return visits. Now with yet another revival on Broadway my grandson is old enough now to appreciate it and when the eventual tour hits Detroit again WE WILL be in the audience!

Martin Charnin's words in the songs are absolutely amazing. In those songs the lyrics just have hope belief and many other amazing features. He actually inspired me to do lyrics in my own musical as well!

Could Charles Strouse be the same delightful gentleman who sings "...You're only a day away" ("Tomorrow") on the Entresto tv commercial? I'm so hoping.
The rest of the commercial borders on morbid but not the ending when this obviously much loved "grandfather" cradles this obviously much loved infant and sings to her. This infant stares intently into this man's eyes just as if she's known and loved his voice, then her emotion washes over her and she absolutely wiggles with joy from it.
Never seen any thing like it before in a commercial. No way they are both actors. They have to be related.
Regardless, it sends me over the moon and does my heart more good than the heart medicine the commercial is advertising.
Thank you Charles Strouse...with all my heart.

There are so many JERKS in Broadway theatre. I worked with Martin Charnin in the early 90s and he was a very cool guy.

So fascinating! Thanks for sharing! Does Martin (well, now his estate) still own the rights to "Annie"? I would imagine; I've seen the '82 and '99 movies, though not 2014 yet (not sure if I want to, I've heard a lot of views on both sides about its quality). I would imagine with such different productions they'd have to get agreements from each - with the play as the "official version." (I've actually pondered writing something in their universe with minor characters - or at least with charfacters who allude to the situation - a la "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern...") Basically it's be a comedy about a family trying to adopt and ending up with one of the other girls once Daddy Warbucks start finding parents for them. A couple with some ties - a milkman who delivers tot he orphanage and a maid who is pretty low on the totem pole int he Warbucks household.)

Not many people know that Charles Strouse co-wrote the 1958 hit "Born too Late".
