everything about this just screams "final boss" to me. the heavy bass, symbolizes that this is a powerful enemy. one of the strongest on the island. and the regal instruments signal royalty. and the melody alone gives you the feeling of "this is it. this big douchebag is the only thing between me, and the end."
I once killed him by accidentally rolling on a recently killed elite disgusting worm with armadillopack mutation and he so just happens to decide to come back down. He was on 20-15% health
Tips: -Roll through the dashes. -Destroying the banners with a groundpound makes it easier. -BRING A WOLFTRAP. -Whenever he spawns enemies, make sure to make them fall from their platforms. This deals huge damage to them. -Don't be afraid to use the side platforms, but be sure to have another one ready at all times. -Weapons that make you hover if used in the air (Such as the Magic Missle.) are a saving grace. Grab'em if you can. UPDATE: I have now defeated THOTK with one Boss Cell. Here's my advice: -Bring a Rampart. If you can parry the first hit of any combo, you can slash him down while the forcefield is active. -Bleeding, Poisoned, and On Fire are amazing against him. His health melts if the effects are applied properly. Reforging gear so that attacks poison enemies is a good move. -Swarm is a pretty nice way of getting extra DPS, since his Triple-Slash is too high to hit the Biters -Anything that deals damage over time (Like the Crusher, Saws, Biters, Etc...) is a nice way of dealing damage while being able to focus on parrying and dodging. -When he spawns enemies, DO NOT KILL ELITES. If the elites are dead, THOTK will come back and continue the fight, even if other enemies are alive. -If you have enough gold to do it, reset your mutations and pick some like Open Wounds, Dead Inside, Vengeance, and others. Dead Inside is VERY GOOD. -During your run, focus on one type of scrolls only (I recommend Survival), and try to use weapons with this color. L weapons can be picked no matter what. If you get a scroll that doesn't let you pick your main stat, pick the one that'll give you the highest health increase (Survival>Brutality>Tactics). In the High Peak Castle, try to focus on health if your damage is high enough to kill enemies from behind without getting attacked. That's it for now. See ya for 2 Boss Cells! I finished 2BC AND 3BC, so I guess it's time to continue. -Shields are already very useful against him, but couple that with Blind Faith, and you get a 13.5~ seconds cooldown bonus on your skills by parrying the Triple-Slash. -Burst damage skills are pretty good against both THOTK and the Elites, since an Elite Slasher in the middle of a boss battle can be catastrophic. The Giant Whistle can kill the Elite Slasher in the Castle in one hit, and the Elites against THOTK as well. -I highly recommend taking every single cursed chests and challenge rifts you can find, even the riskiest ones. Colorless weapons can be a blessing, especially if it's a colorless/legendary Rampart and you're on Brutality or Tactics. And even if the Colorless weapon is bad, you still get cells, Power Scrolls, and amulets, so go for it. I'm on my way to beat the Giant on 4BC now. Wish me luck! Ok, I killed the Giant AND THOTK on the same run, thus unlocking 5BC. My Giant Whistle dealt 100000+ per use, t'was an insane run. Sure, shop items are good, but they are so because this money is VERY valuable, it would be wiser to save it for a well needed flask charge. -Running Dead Inside + What Doesn't Kill Me during the Spoiler Biome is a good way of staying at constant health while being able to take a few hits from the insane enemies there, I recommend doing this with Blind Faith and a Tonic for better results. -Take your time, make an attack plan, there's no rush. (This tip was written pre-Malaise rework.) -Time Doors are not worth all the stuff you'll miss by zooming carelessly through biomes, so aim for those sweet sweet 60 flawless kills instead. -If you jump into a fight, either end victorious or die trying, fleeing is NOT an option anymore. @@icantdraw3781 I know, right? Finally decided to try it out and beat the game for the first time. Now my two favorite things items are the Rapier and Mushroom Boi.
rapier and frantic sword were my first win. Frantic sword was legendary. i had on-hit poison with rapier and frantic sword did 175% more damage to a poisoned enemy. Serenade dealt with the other enemies for the most part (i had the thing where he never disappeared) and wolf trap.
this guy ended my first ever run, i had no idea what to do and how to dodge any attacks because this boss is so big, and these spikes did a lot of damage too
Tbh, I’m kinda proud I beat HotK first time I ever encountered him (0 BC). Granted I was using a Rapier, one of the best burst damage weapons in the game, but still.
Your know this theme really summarise of the who the hand of the king is, the music starts slow with whispers ether of the king or the hand own doubt to his master way, then it starts slow and rhythmatic bieng something of someone who tired and as the theme continue getting faster it follows the same beat of someone who is with unflinching loyalty and despite the evidence to his king he still belive his master was in right in saving the island, theme continued like this but still highlights the Nobel soul that was the hand till he fell or deafted the intruder and is alone once more with the wispers. This theme is almost the opposite when it comes to the giant as the giant is more emotional while the hand is almost stale in any feelings heck he doesn't even mind if the food taste rotten only worrying if it up to quality to his men and his boss.
Ok guys, I just beat HOTK and my satisfaction in killing him was immeasurable. However, I don't plan on playing on Hard yet. I still have some "unfinished business" on 0bsc difficulty. If anyone asks, here's my build (it may seem a bit random, but at least it did the job) Primary weapon: Frying pan Weapon Two: Snake Fangs Backpack: Twin daggers Skill 1: Serenade Skill 2: Sinew slicer Mutations: Vengeance Open wounds Initiative
The raven cloud ability and a barrel launcher off the walls is a good strategy for a tactics only run but you gotta really build that tactics up or else you wont be able to get him fast enough
Just bought the game again for my Switch, so I’m gonna have to figure out what my strategy for fighting the HotK was again, I do know that I used a shield though iirc!

OUR BATTLE WILL BE LEGENDARY!!!!!
Reminiscing over the two times the Hand didn’t make me suffer, during that brief window when Face Flask was a free win
Now it's just a solid b teir
Wish Face Flask gave you Orange HP still, as of now it’s useless except for Spite Sword.
@@ASquared544 goes very well with vengeance
I just beat the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight after spending all day trying to beat it. This song carried me throughout the entire run. Thank you based music person!
Congrats, I wouldn't even try to beat PoP
the dislikes were just the king's bodyguard from each boss cell difficulty
Goal: live long enough to hear this beautiful soundtrack and win.
Sound of "i cant get explorer outfit" because of these spikes
When you're all out of health flasks, disengagement is down and you have 1hit point left. That is what this fight is.
This is where I witnessed the power of Broadsword, Pure Nail and backpack sheild.
this song is gonna be rooted into my mind for good after all the failed runs and times when i barely failed to defeat him yet came out victorious
this composition reminds me - Duel of Fates from SW
AWESOME
Dude the king's not even there anymore you have nothing left to fight for, calm down man
I love that in this boss fight (maybe the others too, idk) that if you're about to die and try to restart the fight by quitting the game, the game immediately throws you back In the exact moment you left.
Why not just save before the fight instead of quitting?
@@bait5257 U can try that. I'm just saying what happens if you quit
Lol that's a good punish
I still wonder what the whispering voices at the start are telling the Hand
I think it starts with: "kill the ..."
And then it just becomes gibberish
Achievement unlocked:
Lose over 100 cells
1 hit until the end but I only have 50 health it's time to unleash my final strike.
Frantic sword goooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
Remind me of iudex / champion gundyr boss from dark souls 3
Dying multiple times to this guy only to beat him first try with a Rapier. That thing’s criticals were a saving grace.
Rapier has carried me through pretty much every boss I've fought. The thing's broken as hell lmao
Every time actually make it to this boss. I always know that this is were im gonna die.
Every Dead Cells newbie gangsta till HotK says "aaa.."
this guy ended my first ever run, i had no idea what to do and how to dodge any attacks because this boss is so big, and these spikes did a lot of damage too
i just wanted to loop up maps for certain areas and appearently this guy is the base game final boss???
First time I beat HoTK on 0 BSC, it was with twin claw scythes doing like 20Kdmg on hit if used correctly
How do you get those ? I haven't found them at all
@@vedaryan334 just defeat mama tick
2:15 Best
y’know, with the hand of the king, he’ll either kill you in one minute, or you win in one minute.
When I got to the area where this plays for the first time. I didn't know I was at the end of the road.
Holy shit...
Who gonna win ?
The guy who protect king buddy and has many experienced
Or
Green Goo who possesed sume Body
Currently in boss cell 4 and keep on dying, yet I am vibing
Wait you do know that you r not meant to kill the hand you are meant to kill the giant right
@@leventkarademir1680 yea, I actually killed the hand of the king and then realized I had to kill the giant 💀
1:42 why is it duel of the fates?
Its Over HOTK i have high ground !!!!!!
Hotk : U underistimated my power
Beheaded : don try it
Hotk : AAAARRRRGHHHHHH
Beheaded : Body desecrated *
@@muhammadazim3374 No wait it's not battle of the heroes
I heard this too. It also has imperial March as the melody…
it was a good run ... it seems that this is my last fight ..
One of my favorite video game songs. It matches perfectly with the setting and stress of the fight. Not to mention the velocity.
This gave an immediate fight or flight response
Tbh, I’m kinda proud I beat HotK first time I ever encountered him (0 BC). Granted I was using a Rapier, one of the best burst damage weapons in the game, but still.
I don't remember ever hearing this song despite having beat the game on up to 3BC lol. Too focused on the fight.
This sounds just as epic as the two times I’ve heard it in game
I never took the time to appreciate this absolute banger of a theme. I was either fearing for my life or dying.
Ok guys, I just beat HOTK and my satisfaction in killing him was immeasurable. However, I don't plan on playing on Hard yet. I still have some "unfinished business" on 0bsc difficulty.
If anyone asks, here's my build (it may seem a bit random, but at least it did the job)
Primary weapon: Frying pan
Weapon Two: Snake Fangs
Backpack: Twin daggers
Skill 1: Serenade
Skill 2: Sinew slicer
Mutations:
Vengeance
Open wounds
Initiative
This isn't even the final boss. This is the first main boss.
Final bosses are 5bc dracula, queen or spoiler boss
When you hide dad's belt
stupid me, thinking I would win the first time, with a Flint (two thousand and something Dps) and a Frost Blast
Bow to me Hand of the King. I am the King now
.
The raven cloud ability and a barrel launcher off the walls is a good strategy for a tactics only run but you gotta really build that tactics up or else you wont be able to get him fast enough
I findo Electric Wip, Ice Blast, Heavy Turret and Double Cross 'o 'Matic with an electric sinergy better...
just use wings of the raven and magic missiles. For a good 15 seconds you can just sit above him pummeling him quite hard.
Ahh, how nostalgic and epic, this is a theme of a memorable Boss
My description for Hand of the King: "He's not a gentle boi"
Hand of the King: Exists
Also HOTK: Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru!
NANI???
Every game got that soundtrack that says “you gon’ die, boi”.
This is dead cell’s
I managed to make it here on my third run and I thought I was doing really well then I looked at my health bar almost gone and his at about 5/6
Thumb rule of hand of the king fight. Health never matters. He will always take 90% of your health 1 one hit
damn I was listening to this again and noticed my comment from 2 years ago, I got addicted to the game since and have now beat every boss hitless
Start feels like IMPERIAL March and 1:51 is literally duel of fates
What do you think he’s listening to?
Her: probably heavy metal.
What he’s listening too:
Earlier i was scared of you, getting killed over and over again. But now i watch and dont understand. How i could be scared of you?
Has this track been updated since release? Feels upgraded from my memories
@@matez8686 Can't relate, either I died before 2 minutes or his ass got pulverised by me. But it's mostly the latter.
HOLY SHIT IS THAT DUEL OF THE FATES!?!?!?
The Hand Of The King - THOTK

K-Killer
Nahnahnah bud.
It's T.H.O.T. King.
He is the King of thots.
It took me three hard runs to get to the prick and he outright murders me at the second stage
I can still remember when I thought the hotk was the end…
Just bought the game again for my Switch, so I’m gonna have to figure out what my strategy for fighting the HotK was again, I do know that I used a shield though iirc!
Keep us updated on how it goes!
That one song that has the imperial march and the duel of the fates ostinato (in a different mode). This game loves its crossovers.
Hand Of The King👑
This will be a Perfect Theme agaisnt the Upcoming Super Bosses in Terraria Calamity Mod
We don't talk about draedon
It’s funny that this song is 6 minutes long when the fight lasts 45 seconds
Same with queen and lighthouse
But the first time i fought them it dragged on so i could hear the full things(somewhat anyway, i was panicky)
Lol, reading all these comments tells me that I have been getting incredibly lucky with my legendary tactic equipments in all my tactics runs(I main Tactics and have been playing for a week now). I first-tried Concierge, Time Keeper and HotK within 30 runs by simply plonking down my legendary turrets and hyperdashing back-and forth with my legendary hyperdash(whatever it was) and took them down.
Edit: Ok nvm 1BSC HotK has destroyed me 3 times with all my legendary stuff this guy's insane.
The first time I fought this boss was also the time I beat him. I was not sure how the fight was gonna go cause I had a hyper-upgraded king scepter from fractured shrines and + 15 brutality. I ended up completely destroying him
I fucking hate how you have to fight the giant to get the last bc. Screamed as hard as i could because i thought i beat 4bc. BUT NO NOW I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN BECAUSE NOW I HAVE TO FIGHT THE GIANT
Yeah i mean, nothing in the game tells you that.
But hey the bright side is that you completed 4bc, and as soon as you defeat the giant you can go straight to 5bc.
@@TheDoomCake yeah i popped of so hard. And when i left to restart the run to do 5bc i thought i somehow missed the last cell. So i googled how to get it and found out that i had to fight the giant to get it. And the funny thing was that i thought about going to the giant fight to get good loot but i did not want to die on a very good run so i fought time keeper. So i could have avoid the whole thing is i went to caven
Well I default to the giant usually so that won't be a problem
Let’s be honest that hand of the kind could destroy basically anyone in any universe
close to anyone but would get cucked by the queen
I dont hear this ost either because i get rekted or because i had good rng and i erase him, no in between

And here I present to you
