- Jamey Johnson performs "High Cost of Living" live at the Farm Aid concert in Mansfield, Massachusetts on September 20, 2008. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

u can't fully understand or appreciate this song unless u have lived it....I'm pretty sure Jamey had. God knows I once did.
Yeah, this is one of them that hits the heart hard....."I didn't have to think or talk or feel"
"I couldn't even tell I was alive"
Those lines ring true and close to home..
wish the radio would play him more than some of the new ones
West Virginia on deck!! LOVE Jamey Johnson.
i just love how this guy who has "made it" still playing an ephiphone !!! rock on brother!
It’s not the brand of guitar that makes the player.
God bless farmers for putting food on our tables each and every day. God bless Jamey Johnson for saving country music. Thanks for posting this great video!

Jamey´s a true family farmer supporter.GREAT lyrics!! On this song he sounds a little bit like Kris Krisstoferson. But that alright,
Amen

Little hit of Waylon J. sound in this song.
Just a pickin and a grinnin
Uh oh they just country and terrible...stfu
It sounds like he's singing from experience...lol
+joni greenwood he is
he wrote this in prison actually
Isn't that Willie Nelson's long time harmonica player?
No that's not Willie's harmonica player
Willie's harp player is Mickey Raphael , one of the best out there.
Who is that on the steel?
it looks like Donnie Van Zant?
Cowboy Eddie Long!
Steven Murray
Many Thanks for the info Steven. He does resemble Donnie? Right?
lol yeah I suppose. He is a treat to listen to live. They crank him way up as opposed to most steel guitar being more "background" noise. Eddie Long was Hank Jr's steel player back when he was big, The "Bama Boys". I enjoy hearing him play just as much as hearing Jamey.
+Steven Murray
ok then. Now I know where I knew him
The Bama Band.
Oh yeah, there ya go. *Bama Band*
This is basically "Bobby McGhee" with different lyrics....JMO
A little more to the chord progression than Bobby

Porter Larsen jus how slow are you? ???..i know this is his song you fuckin idiot..im sayin the band is off

brian keele i get hwat you are saying. The thing is this is live. Nothing sounds good on the internet when you are comparing live to studio album.
He sounds sick as a dog.
