    Tip for everyone that want to retire in Portugal:

    If you live outside Lisbon, €10-15k/year is more then enough depending on the region.

    I really like the channel and have learned a lot, I just can't wrap my head around some of these 50+ portfolios. In my opinion, you should always be comparing performance to benchmarks like the SP500, a total market index, or a good dividend etf. If you have 50+ holdings and you are underperforming the benchmark, then you should reevaluate as you are overcomplicating your portfolio for worse returns. In general, I think it is easier to gain alpha with fewer but higher conviction holdings.

    • @DividendGrowthInvesting
      @DividendGrowthInvesting  3 роки тому

      I agree! It ultimately comes down to the person, but I really like benchmarking it to the SP500.

    Thank you Jake, great content. What I don’t understand: why don’t you just hold ETFs? Doesn’t holding so many individual stocks make this very complicated? 🤔 I can see so many overlaps eg FTSE All World ETF and then Microsoft, Apple etc... as individual stocks. Then Vanguard high dividend yield ETF and then Coca Cola, Johnson and Johnson as individual stocks again...

    • @paradox5434
      @paradox5434 3 роки тому +3

      Having etf and individual is a way to beat the market but conservative at the same time also overlapping that would just mean you like this etf and really love these stocks in the etf. Not sure of his specific reason but this is a general reason for most.

      It comes down to your time horizon and the power of 72 (How long it takes an investment to double). The longer you have, the more you want to focus on the growth of your investments because depending on your time horizon, the growth will often outpace high dividend (slower growth) in the long run.

    Hey Jake, thank you so much for your review of my portfolio. I love having a second opinion. Just to clarify that the 1 Year Rate of Return was based off of the date mentioned but also take into consideration when the email was sent. Anyway, my portfolio's investments allocation is still in the works as I have to do it manually as Fidelity bases it's allocation percentage off of the amount one contributes to that investment (ETF, Stock...ETC). This is where I wish Fidelity had the allocation setup like M1 Finance so I can place the allocation percentage amount myself. DGRO would be my highest allocation percentage if I had the setup like M1 Finance. I currently have NOBL as my top holding which is fine, so now it's trying to get DGRO to surpass NOBL. FDEWX is going to remain my lowest holding, like barely anything. Last but not least... I recently added 1 final holding to my portfolio, that being: SCHD. Now it's just a matter of getting my allocations where I want it to be. Loved the video and I love seeing how other people invest and what their strategy is. Much love to you Jake. Congrats on the baby boy! Super exciting.
