Juliette Veronica well, if you’d know in advance that something will be a hit, sure you won’t turn it down. We don’t know how many songs of hers got turned down and didn’t make it anywhere. That amount could be far greater than the actual songs discussed. Artist receive a song and need to ‘fit’ it on their album, so if your song is the third power ballad received, chances are high it will get turned down to make room for other songs.

Keep in mind that "rejecting" doesn't always mean that they think the song is bad. Sia's songs usually boast a huge vocal range, while at the same time requiring great power; and some artists just can't pull that off well enough.

I can't help but feel like she's not using her god given talent to her full potential. But that doesn't mean I think any less of her. She will always be the queen in my book. Tbh tho without rihanna not needing songwriters, it wouldn't have been able to make sia to pounce off on her own. Im not sayin she wasnt famous, but her music before was not as popular, once she started writing for big names it increased her interest.
Songwriters imo are needed to, it gives them a chance to reach out and express their songs without having to have all the fame.
