Can't you just add the new ssd to the other slot and not have to reinstall the os?
I believe it depends on if you want it to be the system drive or not. If you want it as the system drive, you have to have it installed as primary. For example, I have a 1TB SSD M.2 right now. I want to upgrade to a 2TB to replace as the system drive and move the 1TB as the secondary. So I will need to change them accordingly and I need to mirror the system drive onto the new drive and then reformat the old drive.
-
Did it work to have 2TB in the primary slot and 1TB in the secondary slot? I was told it supports only a total of 2TB within both slots.
Do you have a how to video on how to mirror the old system drive onto the new drive? I want to upgrade my 1TB M.2 SSD to a 2TB one then have the old drive as the secondary drive. As I understand the system drive has to be on the primary?
-
Most important will be how to mirror the system drive so windows 11 and everything functions normally.
Should I ALWAYS unplug the battery before removing/adding SSD?
yeah! is it alright now? did you break your motherboard?
I can not get mine to recognize the second M.2 drive. My bios shows it however this PC does not show any additional storage.
So you would need to go to disk management and initialize it, I looked it up on google and it was pretty easy
@@caitlinfreeman3740 I have the same problem as that guy. I can see both storages in my bios but only the first one on that disk management site. So I can't initialize it.
@@byluka1582 did you figure it out cause i have the same problem
@@rawwlee yeah, windows just randomly reserved the storage and thats why i didn‘t see ir on disk management
isnt it better to do a clean install on the ssd then to migrate? I cant find any videos on how to do that with this laptop though
Can't we just add the another SSD into empty slot without unplugging the cable?
You can but shouldn't. Higher chance something will get fried.
Thank you for help
How did you manage to get the M2 screw off? I tried everything, several screwdrivers, it just won't budge (and it's started to get stripped).
I’m having the exact same problem
use needle nose pliers to grab the side of the screw, i say this because i just did this same thing 15 seconds ago
@@MaxCJenningsvideo or it didn't happen. same problem here but needlenose pliers don't work
just found a solution of my own from a forum post, use some toe clippers, firmly grip the side of the screw with it, twist, and that satanic screw will come loose
hmm no shielding black layer over the empty spot ...it's not really needed but some laptops have it
Hi will a Crucial P3 1TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe Internal SSD - Up to 3500MB/s - CT1000P3SSD8 work in this? Thank you.
Can this laptop upgrade the processor? Pls answer someone I want to upgrade my cpu
you cannot
can you run 2 1TB 970 evo plus drives in raid 0? also is the gen3x2 both in raid equal gen3x4?
Will Kingston KC3000 fit inside G15 Zephyrus (2022) because it has double sided chips?

damn no heatsink required?
My NVMe SSD I added to my laptop deleted itself from my laptop in the middle of gaming and I couldn’t restore or view it any kind of way (outside of the bios just saying it was present) and didn’t return to windows until I did a full restore on my laptop. I suspect it was due to heat, I was playing a demanding game. I came back here to this video to see if I missed something on the install. Doesn’t seem I did, maybe I’ll go back and add one
@Joshua Rubio I added a heatsink strip thing and blue coolant thing to mine, he doesn't have that step in n this vid at all. I don't know if it's needed or not is why I asked but just did it anyway. Been working fine though ever since this comment.
I have the nvme M.2 970 ssd one
