growing up as a kid whose parents weren't so good financially i can tell you that i literally spent a lot of time playing on the knockoff ps-vitas. i don't remember if i was simply dumb enough to actually mistake it for an actual ps-vita or i was just happy to have something to play with. at least it had super mario, kof and contra on it tho
Hey man it’s good it makes you appreciate the expensive real consoles, or even just money better, unlike some kids who spend 400$ on there parents credit cards on fortnite thinking it comes from thin air, when there parents probs had to works a couple days for that hahahahha

The GB Boy color from what I’ve seen is actually pretty good, cuz it has roms on it, like you mentioned. But it can also play your actual gameboy and (possibly) gameboy color cartridges. And it has a front light.

@@fairyball3929 MAME by itself is a Command Line program. If you want an emulator compatible with MAME ROMs I recommend Retroarch or MAMEUI.
@@HiTechLoLife I've already tried using Retroarch... and it's quite a bit easier to work with... if I don't want to play arcade games.

The GB Boy is actually a really good budget gameboy because it actually plays cartridges. Also the reason Peter got not crystal yellow is because there were other colors listed on the other side of the box.

The least bootleg of all of those is the GB Boy Color.
It’s legit a reverse engineered Gameboy Color hardware clone with a different boot ROM, hence the GB Boy logo when you turn it on.

I actually learned about this when I was 6; This is a Bootleg called "Sonic 3". you go around as Sonic, kicking robots, and saving Marios. When you beat the game, the creadits don't have names, just some poorly translated stuff about how Sega sucks and Lost the console war, and things like "All hail Mario" written all over it.
I think my dad installed it on one of our Linux machines too, it's a Speedy Gonzoles bootleg AFAIK

Growing up as a 90s lower middle class kid in India, these were all we had! It was too much fun as well, especially when purchasing "bootleg" (not that we knew anything back then) cartridges from the shops, with some of the best NES games!

@@thenoble1 Yeah it's a really nice deal. The stretched aspect ratio is tolerable in my opinion and it plays games like 0.2% slower, the pitch change is noticeable but I'm perfectly fine with that. And mine is NOT one of the faulty models that plays through the speaker when the headphone jack is in use :)
