    What are your thoughts on my list? Super nit-picky right?

    • @lcsper
      @lcsper 7 місяців тому

      Hmm. I have a Red 24 STRS.
      My key is black so dunno whats with your key.
      The wind protection thing is kinda nitpicky TBH. It's a naked bike and frankly the wind ain't that bad. If it is bad you are probably going too fast anyway.
      The single piece header/exhaust thing is annoying but there is probably a reason for it.
      Range is OK but I suppose is a valid nitpick.

    In regards to your comment about people actually considering downgrading to an R because of the Dash???
    I agree with you.
    I’m a day sport rider
    I take off at 9:00 am and finish at 3:00-4:00 pm
    I can say with all sincerity
    That the only time I look at my TFT on my Super Duke is to change modes , calculate remaining fuel and glance at tire
    Pressures
    In other words
    I know my bike and hardly ever look at revs
    I never look at speed unless I’m in the vicinity of LEO’s
    I just ride 😅

    I have a gray 24 RS and I got a black key. I agree with you on all of your five things, except the key. I also find the dash annoying. They could have used the space better and you wouldn't have to screw with the joystick as much while riding (it is a distraction).

    My only gripe with the RS (this years cosmic yellow RS is my third consecutive ST RS) is the TFT, the 2017 TFT was good, especially for its time, the 2020 dash was not good but I hate the 2023 TFT because of its tiny letters on the display, in fact the simple basic dash on the R (also on the Trident and 660 Tiger) is IMO preferable, re not being able to fit a slip on end can, it's Triumph's kiss ass with those implementing Euro 5, luckily the standard exhaust makes a lovely sound were with some other bikes the sound is so bad you just must change it, I love my RS and couldn't believe the great leap forward Triumph have made from the 2020 model in both performance and handling, shortening gears 2 to 6 has made acceleration so much better and raising the tail just 11mm has made the front lean in sharper whilst still keeping it planted, it's hard to imagine how Triumph can improve on this bike without upping the capacity which is precisely what KTM and Yamaha have done to keep the 890R and MT-09 competitive with the street triple. in fact KTM have upped the capacity from 890 to 990 for 2024 making the new bike a litre bike to all intents, don't forget this was a 790 just four years ago, surely it can no longer be classed as a middleweight.

    My top 5 things I don’t like (revised):
    1. Inability to control DRL separately like the Euro bikes (I have the non DRL cruise control).
    2. TPMS does not allow for lower tires pressures. Even if you hide the menu item, the warning light still shows on the dash when tire pressure drops more than three psi below factory setting (34 front, 42 rear).
    3. Only one headlight is normally on, and one high beam on the other headlight (when selected). I would prefer that both headlights are on normally, with high beams available on both lights, as well.
    4. Brake and clutch levers don’t adjust close enough to handle bar grip, even with closest setting.
    5. Triumph connectivity module doesn’t support turn-by-turn with a map, only an arrow.
    6. *Bonus: Triumph connectivity module doesn’t support (control) GoPro Hero 11 Black. Purchased and returned for this reason. I now run the Insta360 X3.
    7. *Bonus: Rider mode not saved when the bike is turned off. Must be set each time.
    That said, I LOVE this bike! Best bike I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned several (Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki). The above list is also “nitpicking.”

    • @FifthNorth
      @FifthNorth  11 місяців тому

      I haven’t ridden a Trident 660, but by just looking at the specs alone I would say it would be pretty major difference. There is a significant gap in power levels and quality of components.

    Hey, Red RS here.
    To all Streety riders, check your clutch cable near the key. The clutch cable puts extreme pressure on the cable holder and there is almost a hole in the casing after 8500km…

    Given how “near perfect” the Street Triple is (yes, I also own one and have drunk the Kool Aid, though mine is a 2020 R), any list of 5 worst things will necessarily be nitpicking. 😊 Agree with your take on the smaller tank, removal of the kickstand peg, smaller windscreen, and the one-piece exhaust system. However, I really don’t like the dash, particularly the way the tach is displayed. It’s so hard to read. They should have kept the analog-style tach of the 2019 ST-RS, IMHO. Love the Rev’it Spark Air jacket. I have the same one! Hahaha!!

    • @FifthNorth
      @FifthNorth  Рік тому +1

      Yup! Facts! The kool aid has been consumed haha, honestly everyone complains about the dash but it doesnt bother me at all, plus honestly the more i get used to the sound and feel of the bike the less i need the tach. And yeah the spark air is great in the heat! Thanks for watching.

      The rev counter on the R model looks better than the RS imo. Unfortunately the only way to get the awesome yellow colour scheme is on the RS.

    • @FifthNorth
      @FifthNorth  Рік тому +2

      @@ThiefOfNavarre I guess its all a matter of preference, I really like the RS one and personally have no issues with it.

    • @ThiefOfNavarre
      @ThiefOfNavarre Рік тому +2

      @@FifthNorth Ohh absolutely a preference thing. I like the linear rev counter on the R because I find it easier to read than the one that snakes up either side of the TFT on the RS. Minor gripe really; I'd take the RS every day of the week over the base model purely due to the better kit and better colours. I always wanted a Daytona in yellow and this is probably the closest thing we'll get to it.

  • @ZabDevin
    @ZabDevin Рік тому +3

    Red 2024 STR 765 RS here. I love the dash too. I agree, some people are exaggerating about the dash, specifically the rev counter. I use the dash with the digital rev counter. It’s large and easy to read. Problem solved.

    Hello, I like the Triumph Street Triple too. I like it's sound. What I don't like about it is that it does not resemble the Bonneville. About the T.F.T. Dashboard, I would prefer the instrumentation of the Bonneville. Either as a stock item or an accessory replacement. A kick stand tab can be welded to it. I like that Cosmic Yellow too. " Hey! "

  • @Sheep101
    @Sheep101 Рік тому +2

    Downgrading to get the R dash??
    The two main reasons to go with the RS for me was the dash and the nice cosmic yellow colour. The dash on the R is in my opinion one of the worst things about the bike I can't believe a premium brand like Triumph still doesn't go full TFT on those bikes in 2024, it's not like they are cheap.

    • @FifthNorth
      @FifthNorth  Рік тому

      Yeah I don't get it, I know im in the minority here but I prefer the RS dash and don't find it at all confusing or difficult. And the RS offers so many upgrades over the R, and to your point the Cosmic Yellow as well that I could never downgrade.

Here in the USA ours are designated as 2024 model year bikes. I believe in Europe they are 2023 model years but same bikes, not sure why Triumph did that but the USA bikes are 2024 model year.
