If you were a kid in the eastern suburbs of Sydney in the 1970's, Double Bay bowl was where you went to go 10 pin bowling. Changed a hell of a lot since then.
Wow I didn’t know that. I’d heard there was one at Rushcutters Bay once upon a time. Was it big in Oz back then or were they placed for American servicemen during the wars?
@@hwtours not sure, but the building or was in was probably 1950's or 60's. I was actually from rural NSW, but used to holiday every year with our cousins in the eastern suburbs. Ended up moving to Sydney for a couple of years in the late 70's- early 80's. Ended up in Melbourne, but still have hundreds of great, nostalgic memories of that great city. Have walked every inch of the cbd, and Bondi Junction, and beach many, many times.
@@hwtoursI don't know if you can advise me,but my friend who is from the U.K is looking at moving to Manly from here in the UK. What he'd like to know is this,is Manly expensive to move to as he's considering a small appartment there plus cam you eat and drink reasonably cheaply? If you could answer my questions I would be most grateful. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas. From Brian & Dora (The cat) here in the land of the poms.
@@BrianKitching-wv5nh Sorry missed this one. Answered the realestate question in the other comment. In regards to food. You can still find reasonably priced food in Oz. I don’t think we are as bad as other countries. But there is still obvious inflation baked in. Also we have fast paddock to plate times. So anything you do eat provides a good meal. Maybe I’ll do another short with a grocery haul to give you a better idea.
The old saying was Double Bay (Double Pay). But some of those joints warrant it I reckon. I'll have to get back to that little street with all the white terraces for a nectar.
Very nice video! Well, I wouldn't mind owning a house in that area 😋. But the closest I got to that was a job as a dishwasher in a restaurant in Rosebay. But after a couple of weeks I changed to a job at Holdens Car factory, for better pay. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next video!
Darling Point is a far superior suburb than Point Piper. Darling Point is surrounded either Sydney Harbour or beautiful parks. The streets are far more attractive and it's much closer to the city making the views more spectacular. Point Piper is 'new money' Darling Point is 'old money'.
I agree Darling Point is a winner. It has that big Swifts estate for one. Crazy how large that land is so close to the City as you say. I visited Darling Point in a later video. Sydney's Darling Point was the title.
Would you say this road in Sydney is the equivalent of Beverly Hills in America? Also which suburbs are good for ordinary working famlies to move into.?Thankyou HW
Nice to see how the "other half" live. "Double Pay" 🤣 Haven't heard that one, but as a tradie, we certainly charge these rich people like a "Wounded Bull" Had some clients in Rose Bay and Elizabeth Bay, and you do notice the posh cars. Thanks HW. 👍🇦🇺 JIM.
Looks level of a country town or a seamy part of the any metropolis , but it does havemercedes etc. not much & after travelling to Asia , Double Bay is not much but there are wealthy people here.

Thanks Rolf. It was 27 degC when I did that vid. Crazy weather we’ve been having.
Nice walk, double bay is lovely and bigger than I thought. I see why you need ‘double pay’!
Yeh it’s definitely got the Beverley Hills vibe about it.
Princess Diana stayed at the Ritz Carlton also. She was not impressed by how dirty her suite was.
Did She? That's cool. I didn't remember that stay. Thanks for sharing.

If you do a crappy job as a trade you will get sued your dealing with highly professional people they can be like wolves and bears there
@@johhnmorgan8329 Never had that problem.
Thank you mate
Do byron bay please I went to mullumbimby high school as a student
Won't be anytime soon. Did you see Splendor in the Grass footage? More like Splendor in the Swamp.
What road is the hotel interconti rntal in please?
Cross Street Double Bay for that famous one. The other one in City is at Macquarie & Bridge streets.
@@hwtoursThankyou,I thought there was 2 hotels in Sydney with that name, but I wasn't sure.Thankyou HW
Please correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t this place a bit past the Cross and you have to turn left to where all those restaurants and coffee shops are?
2km past Cross heading East. Yes you turn left off New South Head Rd.
Looks level of a country town or a seamy part of the any metropolis , but it does havemercedes etc. not much & after travelling to Asia , Double Bay is not much but there are wealthy people here.
Double Bay still considered richest suburb. If you audited those people walking around. You’d soon reach into the billions. Thanks for watching.
Cool sitting on the median strip until some geriatric ploughs through them in her S series 😂
Haha I suppose it’s possible. I’ll have to get back there for a nectar before then.
No crime there like shootings that's good thank you for the video
Yeh not many around those parts I can remember.
no crime on northshore & inner west sydney why people wanna live there plus leafy suburbs north sydney to hornsby
