Delighted you got the care and attention needed. The Oz public health response to an emergency (yes, you were one) is truly excellent, and we all happily pay taxes to keep it so. A twisted intestine can be very painful, requiring strong drugs to control the pain. Strong pain relievers come with possible side effects. My own sister suffered hallucinations on pethidene (an opioid).
It is an incredible health care system ❤️ Gosh and am I right in thinking that pethedene is one of the pain relief options for women in labour? 😬 It has amazed us this evening how many people have commented with a similar experience cx
@@TheBAMFamalam You are correct, and my sister's experience involved little green men crouching in the corner of the ceiling, and "looking" at her. So sorry for what you went through but very happy you were so well treated and are feeling better now! We are moving to the Sunshine Coast in January (from the USA) and the excellent healthcare system is one of the things we are most looking forward to!
I'm in Brisbane, have private health insurance but on a recent trip to hospital the doctors looked at the private and public hospitals because I had the option of both, surprisingly I could get treated quicker for my issue at another public hospital so thats where I was transferred, the private hospitals were full and I would have had to wait to get into one, I was out of the public hospital before I would have gotten into the private one, and my issue was time critical. Not sure if this is unusual but I appreciate how good the QLD public system is.
So sorry you had to go through that, Maz! But I’m so relieved for you that it was a great experience at the SCUH, with lovely staff and Doctors, etc. It certainly is a great hospital ❤️ Glad you’re better hon 😄🥰
Glad your on the mend. Our health system in my view is one of the best in the world. My son was only 6 days old and had to have open heart surgery plus more. All of this was done for free having to spend 3 weeks in hospital surgergns were amazing and save his life. Now 13 and hoping one day to move up to qld. We are in Mornington peninsula still a nice place.
We’re so happy to hear of your good experience too, although we imagine it would have been terribly stressful, it’s a relief knowing you were in such good hands xx
Due to having been born with a heart condition (Tetrology of fallot) I have spent some time in hospital, I can say that the Nurses, Doctors and all the staff have been great. We are so lucky here in Australia, and in my case so glad that I'am not in the USA, I couldn't imagine how much I would have had to pay for my hospital visits. With my last open heart surgery when I had my Aortic valve replaced the only thing I had to pay for was the x-rays and that was only $400.
Hi Maz. I am so sorry you had to go through such pain and something unexpected and rare. Just glad you had the best medical care. Hope your recovery is fast and look good after yourself. xx
Maz, Thank goodness you are doing better 💙 yes when I saw your post on Instagram I was just a little freaked out. Definitely things are so much better here in Queensland ☺️ we all love you 💕
Don’t worry sweetheart I’m denying menopause currently and trying to squish into my “normal “ clothes. Symptoms are not normal. Just look after yourself. I hope you feel better xx thank goodness the doctors paid attention. Lily is amazing. Bless her heart. So happy you are okay xx
Haha this made us giggle - it’s a growing older and wider thing for sure - I’m still squeezing into clothes from my early 20’s because I refuse to change sizes 😆 Lily really is wonderful ❤️❤️
Great to see you are okay! Just to let you know, down here in Victoria, ambulances cost an arm and a leg except as a disability pensioner my ambulance services are free.
@@TheBAMFamalam Absolutely. I can also say that my ambulance experiences in Victoria have been equally great! They are a thoroughly decent, professional lot our ambos!
Wow! Well done! Hopefully it doesn’t twist again. As you told us bout the problem all I thought of when dogs have twisted stomachs. I’m glad all went well.
I love that Lily was in the video! I am the oldest daughter like Lily, and when my parents are out I do like to take care of the household but my siblings just don’t listen and they stress me out so much haha 😂. I had surgery in 2019 and the staff were great and everything but I was SO angry that I wasn’t allowed to get and go to the bathroom that they let me get up and go to the bathroom.
She was great in this video, we loved Lily’s input in it 🥰 I think our little ones play Lily up sometimes too, but not on this occasion 🥰 It’s so tough not being able to do want you want after surgery ❤️
I understand completely about breaking over not being allowed food food. Congratulations to you and Lilly on pulling through, glad you all felt looked after. I hope it wasn't too hard on your husband not being able to visit or stay with you, that's a post-coved world measure still needed around hospitals.
Sending you so much love! Just got back from the hospital after my grandad had a fall. He was in A&E for 18 hours before being seen, they even lost his blood tests twice! My heart hurt so much for him. (He is back home now- but it has now made me think about private healthcare.) I am so glad you was looked after so well! I can't wait to come over to Aus and if anything does happen at least I know I will be looked after! Private or public
Yikes that’s nasty - a twisted bowel can end up being life threatening if not treated quickly! Glad to see everything got sorted out and you’re on the mend. Hopefully the family will gang up to stop you doing anything silly like over-exerting yourself too soon! 😀
As you started your story I thought this is familiar, I bet I know what’s wrong … I had the exact same problem last year, but the doctor at the hospital said I had bad reflux.. even though I’ve never had reflux … I was sent home in awful pain , still vomiting. I went to a medical centre the next day and they did a CT scan , when I got home they rang me and told me to get to the hospital straight away … I cried and gagged when they put the tube down my nose … I never want to go through that ever again … I have had abdominal surgery several times and that’s why it happened apparently .. I’m glad your experience at hospital was better than mine ..mine was a regional hospital … nurses are great and a lot of the doctors are wishing they were somewhere else ..
Glad you were treated well during that nasty happening Good to see you back ,healthy and ready to tell us more about your way of dealing with Australian life and the way your accent is changing a little too. Stay happy
Nothing worse that having your wife or child having to go to Hospital in an emergency. I have had to deal with this too, except we have a special needs daughter to deal with & as my wife is her chief carer, it was especially difficult, but with the help of family we got through it. My wife had to have emergency surgery for her heart. We live in Sydney, but I also can say the Medical staff were awesome. We had no trouble with visitation & I was able to stay at the Hospital for the whole time. This was 4 years ago & she has now made a full recovery. I'm very happy to see Maz in full recovery mode. Great for her physical Health & your's & the families mental health. Keep on getting better. Great stuff. So glad you are all so happy in this great country.
I think the visitation problems would have been because of Covid restrictions. A lot of medical & aged care facilities are still being ultra cautious as far as Covid transmission is concerned & I have no issue with that at all, although I do realise it can be frustrating for families in some situations.
Thank f#”k all is good. We are so happy all is well with the Bam Fam. Look forward to your next adventure. Coodies to your daughter for being the best there is. We just live down the road (ok, a couple of hours away but…. It’s Aus, not that far) and your one of us. Look forward to catching up with you someday. Love and respect to you and yours from me and mine
Really happy to hear of your experiences but also so sorry to hear of your trevails. I can't speak highly enough of our wonderful doctors & nursing staff in this state. I'm up in the age group where things are starting to fall apart lol. Had to call the ambos 5 times recently all foc. And the hospital food was SUPERB, light b'fast, lovely roast lunch & a light dinner of soup. Only "complaint" was b'fast was cornflakes or muesli. Try eating that without dentures, ow! And this is in a small regional town in Central Qld. Can't speak highly of the staff & I don't care how much nurses get paid...it can NEVER be enough for these unsung angels
We’re so glad that you also have such great care in a regional area, we weren’t sure how it compared 🤍 A porridge option would defo have been well received by us and yourself by the sounds of it 😁
Oh I feel for you, I had a twisted stomach and had the pain and vomiting like you did. I had to have my stomach drained which was done with a tube down my nose like you. Because I have had sinus operations on my nose it took 10 goes to get that sucker down my throat. They actually had to transfer me to another hospital for a specialist to put the tube up my nose and down my throat and it took him two goes at it. It sure is not good to have done. I had keyhole surgery to stitch my stomach back in place. Like you I had the best care from my surgeon to the hospital nurses and those delivering meals. Our hospital care in the public system is second to none! I’m so grateful to be an Aussie. Get well soon!
Oh gosh you poor thing - that would be terrible for them to keep trying to do it, I was absolutely traumatised and it only took 5 minutes, I can’t even imagine 😢 Here’s to hoping that neither of us ever have that done again 🤞🏼🤞🏼x
Glad you are recovering and getting better, and the family are all okay and yes, I can vouch for the health care in Oz I have a friend who's a nurse from the UK NHS emigrated to Oz same story the nurses are under a lot less pressure than in the UK with less patients per nurse compared ot the UK and that's a significant difference.
Guys so glad everything went well & it didn't turn out to be anything serious, also really great to hear you were looked after really well Be Happy life is good 😊.
I recently had a serious accident on my farm and was choppered to SCUH. I was in hospital for 4 days and the care I received was second to none from both nurses and doctors. Can't say enough good about them. By the way I was on fluids and when home I ate lots of jelly - love it. ha ha. Love your videos.
Oh gosh, we hope you’ve recovered well - we had seen a story like that on the news recently. It’s an excellent hospital, we couldn’t fault it. Haha I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat jelly again after that hospital visit 🤣🤣🤣
I just found your channel today and I just watched some of your videos. I saw this video on an American reaction video and saw the SCUH in the picture and i was like oh, you were right near our house in Birtinya! I noticed you haven't done any videos for 7 months now though.
G'day, I have had self funded private surgery as well as public hospital surgery. Getting the funding aranged for the private treatment was stressful and that surgery should have been done in the public system, but that is another issue. Once the hospitan decide you can be treated, then you get treated. Once they decide that there is nothing that can be done to cure you, they still respect your needs. And that folks, is a story for another time/format.
@@TheBAMFamalam G'day, We can access funding from our super/retirment savings. I think the public hospital system just says your condition is "not urgent" so the cost does not come from the public system. Now my retirmend future has a big dent in it. But that is a problem for ron, (later on).
I had a similar medical emergency in Perth back in 2019. Same praise to all, from the ambos to the hospital staff and surgeons. All free of charge, the ambo was covered by my partial private health care (I have dental, optical and ambulance cover). 5 days in hospital, I would have had to mortgage the house if in the states with no health cover. The UK and Australia really are fortunate with NHS and Medicare.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend! 🎉 scary stuff having surgery never mind in a new country. The public health system sounds great there! Would you suggest private healthcare for Australia? I moved to UK 10months ago (still have eyes on Australia)and had to undergo sudden eye surgery… was intense, especially being in new country but NHS staff were great! 🤙🏻
Our personal experience has been great with both public and private healthcare here, but one of our other viewers here has commented with his story and that having private healthcare has kept him alive, so there are circumstances where it is well worth it xx
at 04:27 remarks about having a nasal-gastric tube inserted while you are conscious. This happened to me a couple of months ago when taken to hospital because of a hiatal hernia. I can understand ‼It was awful. It should be done under general anaesthetic.
Ha ha! I can fully relate to your crushing fluid/ jelly diet and days of "nil by mouth" Being starved was indeed the hardest! Eight weeks ago I was taken by an ambulance to hospital due to excruciating tummy pain. I had gall bladder crystals that affected my pancreas requiring immediate surgery. Hospital doctors and nurses were fantastic both public and private. As it was an emergency I was taken to a public hospital near me but the surgery was done in a private hospital by same surgeon who cared for me at the public hospital. I live in NSW, like you I received the best care ever I am so grateful for. Good to see you recuperating well.
Glad you had a good experience with Aussie hospitals. I went to hospital/ the fracture clinic recently in NSW after a horse riding fall resulting in a trauma to my wrist and hand, and they completely missed the three fractures in my wrist/hand(after two X-rays) :( It wasn't until I saw my GP who ordered an MRI that my three fractures were picked up :( I mean the ER Drs and nurses were fantastic but didn't want to do a CT scan which they should have done as it would have picked up my fractures sooner :(
I recently went to hospital for Nose and Tonsils. Still recovering - 3rd day I'm almost certain the trippy drugs would have been an opiate, like Endone, to take the edge off the pain. Have you ever heard of opium dreams? Good that you're recovering well. By the way, my three shift nurses were beautiful and caring. Apologies for the spelling, but thanks to Megan, Blaire and Chelsea.
That's a really serious issue - I am glad you are ok! Your reaction to the painkillers sounds a bit like pethidine - I had some mad hallucinations on that.
I wonder if the tearfulness over the lack of soup was partly caused by one of the side effects of anaesthetic used during the operation. I was told by a nurse that bursting into tears in the days following an operation, sometimes over very little, is quite common. I did the same thing the day after a hysterectomy because I was given soup when others were having a full meal. They didn't want to, but they brought me a meal, meat, veg, gravy, the lot! I devoured it and 20 minutes later threw the whole lot up again, all over me and the bed. I felt very ashamed at the unnecessary work I caused.
TBH it was all I had been thinking about since my soup the night before, I was so excited for it! Although I do know what you mean - the day after I had Lily I put my knickers on inside out, I could not stop crying when I realised 😆 It would have been heartbreaking for you after such a traumatic op though, you had every right to be emotional xx
Ouch! I'm glad to hear that you came through that okay. It sound horrible. Perhaps you ought to find out what that painkiller was so that if you need treating again you can tell them "yes, I _have_ had a bad reaction to an opiate."
My last hospital stay was also very good. Only one exception, I was on limited fluids, I counted them all day and had enough left for a cup of tea after dinner. When I got my cup, it had about 30ml of hot water in it for my tea., Not even enough to wet a whole teabag! I called for a nurse and a lovely English lady listened and looked at the cup. She came back with a full cup for me and made my day!
The little things make a world of difference in those situations. I wasn’t allowed any water from when I arrived in hospital until after my surgery the following evening, I really struggled with that xx
I do love the NHS but my gosh do they make you wait for forever before you see the doctor. I swear there's usually like 3 doctors for every 50 people waiting, which really gets you down. Glad to know you guys are in a better situations then us
I had a hysterectomy at the Gold Coast University hospital... all was going well until I popped a couple of staples and got a staph infection. In all I spent 21 days in hospital. The food was ok, but getting it never lined up with when I was getting more drugs pumped in, and the drugs were making me feel sickly and raw in the stomach. As soon as I could venture from my bed to the food hall downstairs I did, I bought a strawberry milk - instantly soothed my stomach.
Gosh we’re so sorry to hear that, it must have been a terrible experience for you. I’ve got to say I was ready to break out of my room and run down to the cafe myself by the Friday. We’re glad you found something that helped xx
Oh Maz you poor thing so horrible that you have had such a nasty medical emergency but your hilarious description of the 'fancy' surgery get up and the continued review of the hospital and the treatment. Hope your recovery continues to be on the up and up.
Oh Maz so sorry you have been through this. As a student nurse at UCH in London in the 70s we had to pass nasogastric tubes on each other...it was done so we knew how our patients feel. So I agree it is dreadful. Glad you can laugh about the atire. I am recently a retired from a Melbourne hospital anaesthetic nurse so I know about theatre attire. You know we do that so not to encourage you to come back 😉. It was a dreadful experience for you but so glad you have done this video. You know as a nurse this has made be so proud of my profession. Take it easy, rest up and be so proud of your Lilly...wonderful family. In Victoria we have to have ambulance insurance otherwise it can be costly...most people have it but health care is free.
Oh gosh, I feel worse for you that you had to have that done when you didn’t even need it 😬😬 I have no plans to go back, although I did get a nice rest 😆 The care from nurses is really what makes the experience bearable, it truly would have been awful without their support and kindness xx
Usually for twisted and folded bowels they restrict from all food and fluids and wait for it to unravel on its own. Been there and done that, the pain is excruciating and sometimes morphine wont even touch the sides of it. They only operate when its really bad, so it must of been really bad for you. Sorry to hear you had to go through that. I would be having further tests to check the entire bowel for any anomalies like cysts, polyps and other such things.
@@TheBAMFamalam My mother is also severely allergic. Bowel issues are in the family. She found she can take morphine, but only in the tiniest increment amounts. It is enough to take the edge off the pain I think, but it isn't enough to stop the pain. Her machine is able to let her have an additional tiny dose manually every couple hours. But it stops at that. Any more could be lethal.
Wow! I am so glad you're all okay. I've had quite an experience with the health system here over the last 8 years. All good, if you consider 4 heart attacks and open-heart surgery, along with 4 spinal operations...lol

I had a paranoid episode when in hospital in country Victoria last year suffering bladder retention. I thought the staff were turning into devils after a nurse asked me if I knew where I was (I had a vision of Hell then). But after being settled in a ward bed I got well treated by the nurses and doctors and had regular meals. I don't know what caused the vision of devils because I wasn't receiving heavy drugs to my knowledge, only paracetamols.

Your story made me cry.😢 The fact you talk so beautiful about Australia. Regards and pray you heal from your surgery, regards from Canberra.
Big hugs Maz. Glad to hear you had a good outcome and are recovering well. Awesome that you had a great experience with the whole medical scenario.
Thank you xx
So sorry you had to go through that, Maz! But I’m so relieved for you that it was a great experience at the SCUH, with lovely staff and Doctors, etc. It certainly is a great hospital ❤️ Glad you’re better hon 😄🥰
Thanks Jen. I’m very lucky for the care that I received xx
Glad to hear you received such treatment. Speedy recovery and God bless👍
We’re so glad that you’ve also received wonderful care. Having a public system is a game changer xx
Hi Maz. I am so sorry you had to go through such pain and something unexpected and rare. Just glad you had the best medical care. Hope your recovery is fast and look good after yourself. xx
Thank you 🥰🥰
Great to hear your on the mend Maz. Here’s to getting back to normalcy asap 👍🏻
Thank you 🥰🥰
Maz, Thank goodness you are doing better 💙 yes when I saw your post on Instagram I was just a little freaked out. Definitely things are so much better here in Queensland ☺️ we all love you 💕
I’ve got to say I was also freaked out when I saw myself too, it was a rather frightful look 😬 Thankfully all is going well with recovery xx
Haha this made us giggle - it’s a growing older and wider thing for sure - I’m still squeezing into clothes from my early 20’s because I refuse to change sizes 😆
Lily really is wonderful ❤️❤️
@@TheBAMFamalam lily is gorgeous xx
I glad that everything went well with your surgery. It's nice to hear you speak highly of our health system. hope to see more of your videos again.
Thank you 🥰🥰
I'm so glad you're in recovery mode, Maz!!!!!!!!! You lot are good people, methinks!
Great to see you are okay!
Just to let you know, down here in Victoria, ambulances cost an arm and a leg except as a disability pensioner my ambulance services are free.
About one hundred bucks a year for a family through Ambulance Victoria and $49.00 for a single.
@@lindsaybrown7357 Thank you!
Thank you 🥰 it would be so worth paying the little bit for the year xx
@@TheBAMFamalam Absolutely.
I can also say that my ambulance experiences in Victoria have been equally great!
They are a thoroughly decent, professional lot our ambos!
Wow! Well done! Hopefully it doesn’t twist again. As you told us bout the problem all I thought of when dogs have twisted stomachs. I’m glad all went well.
Gosh I hope not! Thank you 🥰🥰
I got Ketamine last yr after surgery and I started seeing abstract paintings appear on the wall right before my eyes. It was great.
Oh gosh! I have no idea what they gave me, but I wasn’t quite expecting the wild time I had on it! Xx
So sorry to hear about your situation. Very glad to know you are on the mend.
So glad your on the mend glad it was only keyhole surgery you should be so proud of you girl bless her love to you all x
Thank you 🥰 We are incredibly proud of her, she’s a great kid ❤️❤️
I love that Lily was in the video! I am the oldest daughter like Lily, and when my parents are out I do like to take care of the household but my siblings just don’t listen and they stress me out so much haha 😂.
I had surgery in 2019 and the staff were great and everything but I was SO angry that I wasn’t allowed to get and go to the bathroom that they let me get up and go to the bathroom.
She was great in this video, we loved Lily’s input in it 🥰 I think our little ones play Lily up sometimes too, but not on this occasion 🥰
It’s so tough not being able to do want you want after surgery ❤️
I'm sure that your parents are aware of how you try to look after the house and your younger siblings and they would be very proud of you.
Sorry you had to go through that! It would have been scary, glad everything worked out well and you got good treatment 😊
Thank you, I was very fortunate xx
The old girl and I are so glad you are back and feeling better all the best wishes to you and the family and wow Lily is a young lady now
Thank you 🥰 Lily really is quite the super star xx
Oh gosh, that is so long and traumatic for him 😢❤️
Yikes that’s nasty - a twisted bowel can end up being life threatening if not treated quickly! Glad to see everything got sorted out and you’re on the mend. Hopefully the family will gang up to stop you doing anything silly like over-exerting yourself too soon! 😀
I’m certainly being well looked after - I defo don’t want to over exert though, the last thing I want to do is book myself back into hospital 😆🤍🤍
Stay happy
Thank you 🥰🥰
You poor thing. My hubby had the same thing and he had never had any previous abdominal surgeries either. So glad you are feeling much better now.
It’s such a strange thing to happen, just bad luck by the sounds of it. Thank you xx
So glad you are fine.... I went in for emergency op and have had that hideous tube down my nose so totally get it!! 😂😂 The staff were amazing!
It really is the worst, we’re glad to hear you were well looked after though xx
So glad to hear everything went well Maz 💖 yes in NSW we pay for an ambulance if you have private health insurance you can claim it back.
Thank you xx
I’m so glad that your recovering slowly but surely🙏🏾🦋🙏🏾🦋🙏🏾🦋
Thank you 🥰🥰
Thank f#”k all is good.
Thank you 🥰 Lily really Is quite the super star 💫 xx
Really happy to hear of your experiences but also so sorry to hear of your trevails. I can't speak highly
enough of our wonderful doctors & nursing staff in this state.
We’re so glad that you also have such great care in a regional area, we weren’t sure how it compared 🤍
A porridge option would defo have been well received by us and yourself by the sounds of it 😁
The thought of having a tube shoved down my nose like that gives me shivers. Bad enough for the covid tests.
Glad everything is good!
I got the pleasure of the Covid test right after the tube had gone in 😂🤦🏼♀️
Oh I feel for you, I had a twisted stomach and had the pain and vomiting like you did.
Here in SA you can get ambulance cover as opposed to $1,000 trip, some private health funds have some cover as well.
That would be well worth it 🤍
So sorry for your rough time. Hope your recovery is fast. Love x
Thank you 🥰 It is really good to see the way it runs here and see healthcare staff treated so much better x
Guys so glad everything went well & it didn't turn out to be anything serious, also really great to hear you were looked after really well Be Happy life is good 😊.
Thank you 🥰🥰
Get well soon and the help u got sound amazing and u were looked after more and more that make me wanna move out there
It really is a remarkable healthcare system here xx
Glad you're on the mend too, Maz
Thank you 🥰
That's our local hospital! Glad they treated you well and all the best with the recovery.
You’re in good hands if you ever find yourself needing to visit ❤️
Speedy recovery Maz... similar experience for me but it was a blocked bial duct. The pain relief drug they gave me was Endone (oxycodone).
Thank you 🥰 It’s awful when something goes wrong.
I don’t remember what they gave me, but I really must find out 😬❤️
Good to see you back on your feet Maz
Thank you xx
I'm glad you all good 👍
You made me smile and cry 😢. Sending Maz love ❤
Thank you 🥰🥰
I wish you quick recovery and soon back to normal! x
Glad you’re better Maz.
Thank you 🥰🥰
When you get a tube down your nose, best thing is to relax and breathe, you can kind of ‘go with the flow’. I’ve had a few!
Nothing better than having an anchor like Lilly back home during something like this. Good job mate.👌
It sure made life a lot easier xx
So glad you are on the mend 💕
Thanks lovely xx
I just found your channel today and I just watched some of your videos. I saw this video on an American reaction video and saw the SCUH in the picture and i was like oh, you were right near our house in Birtinya! I noticed you haven't done any videos for 7 months now though.
Thanks for taking a look at our channel 🥰 We are back on yt again now after a break xx
@TheBAMFamalam yeah I saw your update video. What area did you end up moving to?
I'm glad that you are OK.
Thank you xx
G'day, I have had self funded private surgery as well as public hospital surgery. Getting the funding aranged for the private treatment was stressful and that surgery should have been done in the public system, but that is another issue. Once the hospitan decide you can be treated, then you get treated.
Once they decide that there is nothing that can be done to cure you, they still respect your needs. And that folks, is a story for another time/format.
Is that private insurance you mean was hard to arrange? 🥰
@@TheBAMFamalam G'day, We can access funding from our super/retirment savings. I think the public hospital system just says your condition is "not urgent" so the cost does not come from the public system. Now my retirmend future has a big dent in it. But that is a problem for ron, (later on).
what a trip ... so glad you are well now..;.. take care..
It sure was… the ambo trip and the pain relief trip 😆❤️❤️
I had a similar medical emergency in Perth back in 2019. Same praise to all, from the ambos to the hospital staff and surgeons. All free of charge, the ambo was covered by my partial private health care (I have dental, optical and ambulance cover). 5 days in hospital, I would have had to mortgage the house if in the states with no health cover. The UK and Australia really are fortunate with NHS and Medicare.
4:58 I have had a gastro-intestinal tube inserted twice. No words can adequately describe how awful it was.
Oh gosh, I’m so sorry you had to go through it again. It’s bad enough the first time, but I’d be terrified if it needed doing again xx
Glad you are feeling good now👍
Thank you xx
I was about ready to rebel and head down to the cafe for more soup 😂 Gosh that sounds terribly painful, we hope that you’re also recovering well ❤️
My wife just noticed that the cushion to your left is the same as ours - Pillow Talk Nicklin Wayl lol!
Haha yes I think they were from there 😁
Glad you had a good experience with Aussie hospitals.
Still recovering - 3rd day
I'm almost certain the trippy drugs would have been an opiate, like Endone, to take the edge off the pain. Have you ever heard of opium dreams?
Good that you're recovering well.
By the way, my three shift nurses were beautiful and caring. Apologies for the spelling, but thanks to Megan, Blaire and Chelsea.
In Victoria you can take out an annual Ambulance subscription for only about $70 I think it is, which means any Ambulance service you use is free.
That would certainly be worth it xx
Ambulance is free in QLD for QLD residents, as it’s paid for in rates.
That's a really serious issue - I am glad you are ok!
Your reaction to the painkillers sounds a bit like pethidine - I had some mad hallucinations on that.
Thank you 🥰 Yes, it really is quite frightening- we’ve been surprised this evening by how many people have said they have experienced the same x
Yes me too! I threatened the nurses as well... eeek 🙄
So glad you're feeling better
Thank you xx
Gosh you are so lucky, a twisted bowel (torsion) is most definitely a medical emergency! All the best for you and the family 😁
Although I do know what you mean - the day after I had Lily I put my knickers on inside out, I could not stop crying when I realised 😆
It would have been heartbreaking for you after such a traumatic op though, you had every right to be emotional xx
Ouch! I'm glad to hear that you came through that okay. It sound horrible.
Perhaps you ought to find out what that painkiller was so that if you need treating again you can tell them "yes, I _have_ had a bad reaction to an opiate."
Yes I will be finding out for sure - I’m already allergic to morphine, so I’m hoping I don’t start running out of options 😬😬🤞🏼
Glad to know you guys are in a better situations then us
Wow, that would be very painful...glad all went well 😊
Thank you, it certainly wasn’t fun, but all has worked out well xx
Haha I’m glad that was enjoyed 😁 One has to giggle at these things 😆 Thank you 🥰🥰
Oh Maz so sorry you have been through this.
Oh gosh, I feel worse for you that you had to have that done when you didn’t even need it 😬😬
I have no plans to go back, although I did get a nice rest 😆
The care from nurses is really what makes the experience bearable, it truly would have been awful without their support and kindness xx
I am allergic to morphine, so that was a complete no go unfortunately 😬
Thank you for the advice, that is very much appreciated xx
Well we’re certainly glad that you’ve been well looked after xx
@@TheBAMFamalam yep. Every time. I forgot I fell off a ladder 3 metres up (10 feet) 20 months ago too and did a lot of damage. Glad I live here... hahahaha
Stay off ladders please Shaun, we like seeing you every week 😁❤️
@@TheBAMFamalam thx
it good to see you again.
Thank you 🥰 We’re BAM-ing glad to be back xx
In Victoria $45 a year gets you as much ambulance care as you need, well outside Melbourne anyway.
How terribly frightening for you, thank goodness it settled xx
@@TheBAMFamalam Thank God for Gough Whitlam I didn't have to pay a cent. Bless you.
Get well soon
what you do you get takeaway long soup hi Pat to do that cos I was that fucken hungry after surgery
Yes, I was very close to escaping to the cafe 😆
