Really Cool Lighting Set-Up. Greeting's From Concord,NH.
I grew up in the Concord District Town of Penacook and the Penacook Volunteer Rescue Squad (that service's both the town's of Penacook and Boscawen) the light's on all the Firefighter's and EMS POV'S have RED,WHITE & AMBER LIGHT'S all around & they also have siren's too, plus if they don't make it to the station when the Main vehicle's leave they can go directly to were the call is.
GREEN LIGHT'S are Hospital Campus Security Vehicle's.
BLUE LIGHT'S are Police Vehicle's.
But every state is either the same or different. Still it Really is a Cool Lighting Set-Up man. Stay Safe and Sound out there.
Thanks so much! I really wish there was a national standard, but time will tell lol Thanks for watching!
YOUR WELCOME.
My late father was a Concord, NH Firefighter from 1953 to 1982, he was a lieutenant.
I’d recommend Feniex for surface mounts. They’re super bright and price is unbeatable.
Agreed, you can't beat their quality!
Nice ford chevy colorado Christmas tree 🎄
Thanks lol
Love the setup 😎👍
Wow more lights than me and I run red/white with siren
If we could run siren I wouldn't need as many damn lights lol
Can I Do this to my car ?
Depends on your local laws and what job you do. A good rule of thumb is anyone can have Amber/White, but the other colors are restricted to public safety.
Awesome dude! Liked!
Nice great job
Indiana here too
Me too,
You gotta sync them if you are going to have that many lights
Yessir that was something I learned to do after this project and something I have done on every project since!
@@EMS916 good stuff
The lights are not dual color. It would be split color. Dual color is one module doing 2 colors
Awesome set up! I like it very much!
Dude your truck is Bad Ass
Thanks man! I have since changed quite a few things up and made it a little more practical. Once I finish the last few projects I will be posting a new updated overview on what all is on the truck!
Can't wait. Stay safe brother
You too!
EMS 916 Can u show how u mounted the lights on inside of truck ?
Nice setup!
Thanks! Stay posted for the update within the next month or so! Lots have changed! Thanks for commenting!
In Tennessee us volunteer firefighters have to have red and white lights with atleast a 100 watt siren
I hope that one day we can jump on that bandwagon, it would be a huge improvement! Thanks for watching!
No problem brother thanks for uploading your awesome videos I enjoy watching and remember always watch your six and watch your brothers 6
With your roof bar, your beacon gets obstructed. Why not invest in a Green/Amber/White Sounding Signal nForce lightbar. Only dealer I found for that one particular setup is Tristate Pse. may be a good thing to look into so still have green for response and amber for reduced/non-emergency or chasing
EMS 916 My province volunteer is green also and planned on getting into it so been looking at light setup and wanted amber also for the other job I'm hoping to fall into so I did some extensive search and literally only spot I found it. And no problem. Stay safe. :)
"I think I am just about done with putting lights on it". Yeah, I tried that once. But by the sounds of it, your mind works like mine. You will put more. I have faith in you. Lol.
Very nice setup tho. Great idea on the runner lights
In New York we run Green also
SiLvEr CiViC I'm glad we are not the only ones haha
Here in Concord, New Hampshire Green Light's are on Security Vehicle's.
I agree with a lot of these comments.
Remember, there are 50 states, all with different laws. Then every fire department/ officer with differing opinions. THEN, a gazillion cops who ALL have their OWN opinion! So, more updated and more common laws are sorely needed!
With all that said, something we ALL need to remember is:
DON'T Become part of the problem!
More Lights DO NOT mean you'll get there any faster!
And with lights- Flashing Faster isn't NECESSARILY
better!
Going through red traffic lights sounds GREAT ! ... until it's not !
Waiting for a light to change (go green)??
Think about killing your light show !!
Your asking for the Right-of-Way and not taking it.
CONFUSION! and secondary incident time!
Being a volly is a ton more than lights!!! It ALL starts with LEARNING all aspects, and making WISE decisions from the initial alert!!!
Having a million lights ... could trigger bad reactions to other motorists - don't care? You will when they hit you!
Agree 110%. I feel like all inclusive federal legislation would solve the majority of the problems out there. Lay the groundwork for consistent standards across the country, instead of each state winging it. It would also give volunteers a lot better visibility and protections when going outside of their home state.
the orange light on top. i was thinking if the 38 or 39 inch light bar was in the way i would of put on the side more so traffic coming toward you could of seen it better. im,just saying.
Wow this is awesome man. Great looking truck
Thanks!
Not bad, but it is way over kill.
My suggestions, ditch the light by the rear license plate, move the front hideaways to the parking lights so they can be seen, ditch the white lights in the grille, and I would swap the 4 head stick on the brush guard for 2 singles.
Also I would make sure you can turn the rear hideaways off at night, white light can be too intense to approaching drivers at night, slow down the T/A pattern, and sync the green lights in the back window.
I like it.
Disco light show
Correct, I learned a lot from this build! I was an excited young kid lol thanks for watching!
how about a whelen led liberty lightbar
Do you have 3 or 4 batteries to run all that overkill ?
People say that's too much lights but it's not. There's people out here that won't yield to certain emergency vehicles quickly. Here in New Jersey, the POV laws for Firefighters and EMTs use blue/white in the front, sometimes get away with red/blue in the rear, no siren and have to yield to traffic laws. But Fire Chiefs can have red/whites or red/blues and sirens in their POVs. On my truck I have amber/white equipped used for snow removal and security work. I don't have a plow yet but I transport snow equipment to certain locations. Sometimes the city cops give me a hard time because I'm not a municipal/state truck the but the State Police don't say anything when I'm on the highway
That is interesting, in Indiana anybody can have amber or white for any reason. This is a LOT of lights, and I have since adopted a "less is more" attitude. Quality over quantity for sure. Cops are pretty flexible with us too over here, they don't really give us too many problems.
EMS 916 I think the problem is that anyone can get emergency lights fitted in their cars and the cops don't know who could be impersonating an officer or not. When I got my truck this past summer I had the Amber/whites on my car and when it snowed I put them on. The city police gave me some problems the most because I they think I'm impersonating someone.
Christopher Johnson that is weird for sure, amber typically isnt associated with emergency vehicles so that shocks me haha
EMS 916 Yea you're right. NJ cops can be a pain in ass. I just got a job working for my town being a Public Works Maintenence Worker so I can use the lights when ever it's time, manly for heading to work for snow clearing
Aww man looks like I found your channel to late, always hate when people have good channels and then stop producing videos. I see you are in the Hoosier state, where abouts? I started in Elkhart Indiana then moved to Terre Haute for a while, with a year lay over in Vincennes. Am in ky now as a medically retired Firefighter/Paramedic. DAMN That's a bad ass light package, I thought I had a shit ton of lights on my old 97 Ram 1500 mine was ALL STROBE
Looks good
Hope you are still active
Hey man thanks for the comment! Glad to hear from a local! I try to stay active but with a new baby, new house, and busy job it has been hard! I don't make as many volunteer runs as I used to! I plan on uploading soon and to do an update on my truck as a lot has changed! I run in a multi-county system but my primary county for these videos is Kosciusko! Thanks for watching!
EMS 916 Well damn congrats on the new house and baby busy busy man haha. I had to retire in 2015 blew my back out really miss it and maybe one day I can get back to it one day. But for now i bide my time for the winter as a rent a cop, then this spring will get back on the road as a truck driver... Look forward to new videos when ever you can
Stay safe out there enjoy the family
nice setup I live in oklahoma and fire or ems are not allowed to have any kind of light in their pov
If you did this all yourself this is amazing for a first set up. The flashback is crazy but still great. Sucks that you can't have sirens some drivers won't take it seriously without sirens.
TOO MUCH LIGHTS?? NEVER! I LIKE IT
Love it, I own a doge ram and this gave me some great ideas!
Thanks brotha! You too, stay safe out there.
And please ignore the assholes in the comments, your truck looks amazing and the more lights the more safe. :)
Cool. Do an update video please. I absolutely love it.
It is in the works! Thanks for watching!
Anyway I can see what you used to mount the speed tech traffic advisor... I want to get away from suction cups and can't figure out the headliner bracket
I simply pulled the sun visors off, pulled the headliner down, and modified the brackets to attach to and around where the sun visors attach, then put the headliner and visors back into place.
EMS 916 for the back window light
I obviously should not reply to comments in the early hours of the morning haha, I just pulled the headliner down and ran the brackets under the headliner, I had to bend them a little. Then is rests perfectly on the rear seats headrest so it is extra secure.
EMS 916 which type of bracket did you use or did you just buy the two static headliner brackets from stl
I used the static brackets, but I bent them so they held a little better into the headliner.
Idk if it would be possible but me personally I would try and add led spot lights like actual hand operated one idk just me but bro I love your truck
Oh bro that's going to be cool
I'm a spotter in Adam's county, and I just bought lights for my truck too
Awesome man! Stay safe out there! Thanks for watching!
I have a question did you got rid of this Colorado because I swear I seen in south of town I stopped at the gas station and saw this truck and was like is that ems 916 I was about ready to say hi but no it was an older individual with most of the lights still on it but anyway I hope your doing well.
Yessir thanks for checking! I did sell this truck with most of the lights intact to an older gentleman who wanted a project. My company has been expanding so I sold this guy to purchase another fleet vehicle. The gentleman I sold it to has some plans to fix the rusty patches and put some serious work into it, but currently is his daily driver.
love that truck
chris thanks! Stay posted for an update video! Thanks for watching!
put LEDs in the side mirrors
I put Amber/White hanging from the mirrors recently so I have side coverage when I am not running green lights and only running amber. Thanks for the input!
Strongly recommend a 2Million CP Handheld Spotlight , either hard-wired or cig. lighter plug-in . There are times , especially in rural areas when you need to illuminate something that is outside the range of your fixed spotlights - ( ie: 45 - 90 degrees to the sides ) .
001DesertRat I plan on a roof rack with floodlights on sides/rear. We do have spotlights that are handheld in our ambulances so it is a good idea!
EMS 916 -- Floodlights are not the same as a good spotlight . Floodlights are good for maybe a hundred feet out from the light , but if you need to illuminate somethng that is 500 feet away or more , you'd better have a spotlight .
I will look into it further before I do anything then, I appreciate the information!
Unity Spotlight!
It's just not right that you can't run sirens and red and blue lights
Yeah, even just red I would take! Better than freaking green lol
This thing is lit up like a Christmas tree. haha. well done though. I will never understand the legislation on some states in reference to vol. fire rescue. In Texas whe a vol. is responding, his POV becomes an emergency vehicle. Run red and blue as well as similar laws apply as they would any other apparatus.
the TA pattern is a bit busy, IMO. otherwise, not bad.
Christopher McConnell We are not considered emergency vehicles in North Carolina. We can only run red and white in POVs no siren unless Chief Officer.
SAME HERE in my hometown of Penacook, New Hampshire.
VFF/EMS/EMT POV's are considered Emergency Vehicle's when responding to a call and they have Red, White and Amber Light's and siren's to when en-route to either the Fire Station or to the location of the emergency, and YES they DO obey all traffic law's when responding.
Blue Light's are reserved for Police Vehicle's.
Green Light's are Security Vehicle's.
Here in New York State, volunteers can (besides chief who can run reds and sirens) can only run blue lights with no siren. So when responding, we run blues, but still have to follow all traffic laws. It's useless and just ups the response time to the station during an emergency.
Cannot agree more, I think all departments should go Red Lights/Sirens on personal vehicles. Thanks for commenting!
EMS 916 Absolutely. I think with that, maybe should come some code 3 response training, but that is about the only thing that would be needed.
Perfect. Make CEVO/EVOC certifications mandatory to have a siren and boom. Problem Solved.
Awesome video!! Thanks for posting it!! Love your truck! And I love how you just looked up at the police car :) you, sir, are awesome!!
Thanks so much man! I appreciate you!
How do you feel about your state's POV laws?
Tbh I think red lights and sirens should be how it's set but that's just me
Can you do an updated video please
Soon! Thanks for watching!
How do you run the wires from the lights on the running boards and the light by the license plate? Trying to figure out how to hide mine when I start to wire my truck.
I drilled through the rockers on the bottom of the truck to run wire. You have to be careful, and make sure you use grommets and some sort of silicon to seal it. Last thing you want is water getting inside and things starting to rust.
WTF
That thing looks like some kind of UFO.
Yeah no kidding, I have changed a lot of the lights so there aren't so many conflicting colors! Simplified things a lot.
That stinks you cant run sirens
Yeah, hence why so many damn lights lol
That's way to much lights
Agreed, it has been toned down a lot! Thanks for watching!
Can you explain how you wired the side scanner lights? To help protect from weather and make it look clean. Etc
All I did was use heat-shrink tubing and soldered the connections. It didn't hold up as well as I would have liked, but for a fun project it did well. Especially since I bought those strips from eBay! lol Thanks for watching!
EMS 916 okay thank you!
Where'd you get the traffic adviser?
The0Reese0 I ordered online from Speed Tech Lights for the TA.
How long you had this truck and had you drove out of state lately
Damn that shit is bright. Looks good. Can't believe those ebay lights are that bright. Do you have a daytime video?
Great sestup, looks amazing. You have a vid with the reverse lights?
Those are sick man what truck are u on for fd
how did you make running board lights? any video of HOW u made them...all products used and where u bought them
How bright is your visor light during the day
Very bright, I have no problem moving traffic and being seen in peoples mirrors!
EMS 916 how long is it I have a 2004 canyon but unsure of how it fill fit with the Rearview mirror can you tell me what model it is and how big it is
What is your brush guard? Are you using a Setina push bar or what?
Fellow VFF here from Indiana. Why don't you run blues?
I'm not a firefighter. I am volly EMS and per Indiana law we run green.
Ahh never knew that. You know if same goes for EMR?
Im Bublo that is correct. Most places are associated with a Fire Department so they run blue. We are a not for profit, mostly volunteer EMS service so we utilize green. Only a handful of services use it around our area. Thanks for asking! I love being able to educate people on the topic!
Thanks bud! Thank you for clearing it up. Love the videos new subscriber!
Thank you! Means a lot!
all that lighting, probably when you have everything going, or whatever you need to use at the time, you always keep your truck's engine running the whole time right, unless you have put in a much Bigger Battery under the hood to be able to take the load of everything, right????
Good question! I always leave my truck running on scenes. Occasionally I turn it off. Since everything is LED (Minus the white strobes) the power draw is very minimal. I already have a big battery since I have a full stereo system with some subs. I have never dropped below 12Volts on my voltmeter because of my lights.
Great question though! It was something that I had to measure out once my lights were installed.
Thank you so very much for answering my question, so even though you said that you normally do leave the truck running while you have the emergency lights activated, if you did shut off the engine, and leave the lights on, about how long would it take for the lights that you have on at the time to actually drain the battery, and one more question if I may please, since you are a volunteer, I am guessing that the city/town that you reside in doesnt pay for the Fuel that you use when you respond to calls, is that correct? Thanks again......
Yeah, not a problem. We do not get paid for fuel. I can leave it for a few hours with it on with my battery setup and have no problems!
SO MANY LIGHTS!
Personally if I was a M F R I would run 1 magnetic light on my roof, and get alt wig wag (right brake- left reverse flashing and visa versa) and the same with 1 low beam to 1 high beam and vise versa.
so I'm a vol fire in fl nd I got lights that have flash modes how do you hard wire them and still have the cycle pattern
Long story short you take the "pattern" wire and wire it to a momentary switch on most lights.
All those cool lights and add on's and there wasted on a Chevy 😱 ~~~ JK~~~ I'm a Toy fan but the truck looks awesome you did a great job on light placement . Working on so cool things on my Toy,~~~ stay safe and thank you for your service
what brand are the running board lights
Joseph Aurich okay thanks
I stop and help people on the side of the road and sometimes on the freeway so I was wondering where did you get the control module for all of your lights?
I made my own wiring for all the switches. The control box is from Speed Tech Lights and that is for my traffic adviser in the rear window. They offer a few different options for control modules.
EMS 916 ok thank you I will check it out
I didn't think volunteer ems or fire could have reds in Indiana
Cameron :/ Only facing the rear of the vehicle.
how do the traffic situation work with the amber and green lights? do cars have to pull over to the side?
They are courtesy lights just like blue lights for firefighters here in Indiana. They don't have to legally, but most do.
Nope. Probably zero states where you have to do anything for green or amber. Just keep driving. Flash a strobe flashlight out the back window for good measure.
Im getting a police interceptor for my next car and I'm looking into volunteer for radio and maybe ems. I live in Allen county but can u have Amber lights? I wanna make sure before i buy my gear
Anybody can have amber / white, and you are allowed amber/red to the REAR ONLY of the vehicle. Any other colors are reserved for the respective first responders. Hope this helps! Feel free to ask any questions!
I thought it was a Mardigras float. Lol.
u should have a wig wag
Add in a sirens
Maureen McCormack Sadly we are not allowed to in Indiana.
Siren?
No sirens allowed on personal vehicles in Indiana.
Where did you get your lights and equipment for you truck?
I bought all of it online. Extreme Tactical Dynamics, Ultra Bright Lightz, Speed Tech Lights, are other misc brands. There is a list in the description. When I do an update video I will also include links to the new products that are on my truck since this video was made. Lots has changed.
LEDs are not friggin StrobeS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A LED is a LIGHT EMITTING DIODE
a STROBE, is a gas ionized flash of light...
Led strobe, strobe, led module. Doesn't really matter what you call them. They all do the same thing regardless of if you call an led a strobe.
Based on your theory gasoline and diesel both run engines.... Please put diesel in your truck😊
+Jarred Jones what are you even talking about. All I'm saying is, is that it doesn't matter what you call it. I call them LED strobes. They're LEDs that are set to flash patterns that strobe. Is nothing to get all butthurt about.
But thrust much?
Yooo chilll lol.
You could have just said "Hey, nice truck, I just wanted to say that LEDs are not strobes."
I recommend the $40 sash cam from Walmart. if you don't want to spend a lot but still would like something better than that $12 eBay dash cam. then go to Walmart and buy the one they have. I bought one and it works great. can't really see much on it at night unless your like in a well lit area but during the day it's pretty good.
Chad I have a sash cam and I love it
What brand is your brush guard? I recently bought a 06 gmc canyon and was looking for one but there are very few.
too cool man
Man... I'm not beating you up on your set up so please do not take it as such. Honestly man people are laughing themselves silly when they see this truck rolling down the road full LED's on. The public as a whole will not take you as being legit. It's way way way over kill. You want a clean install meaning no more than 2 colors. Never use the color blue, using the color red ONLY if you are vol. fireman red/white or amber/white. Unless you are a Forrest ranger the green has got to go. I would not move over with all the LED lights running literally blinding people. That's becoming a real issue especially for senior citizens. Thousands upon thousands can not see very good at night causing accidents so can only imagine what is going through their minds as
John Doe yeah he's an idiot man child
Why are you missing a license plate light?
tHEWHateVER and the sucidal biscuit he intentionally left it out for a reverse camera
Question, next year I'm volunteering at my fire department, what color of lights should I use for my personal vehicle
Solid question and I wish I could provide a solid answer. Sadly there is no national standard for lighting. It is all up to your state/department and whatever laws apply to them. Some states that is red/white, others are blue, and some are even green. Typically you will need a permit from your department for any specific color lighting that they use for their members. Hope this helps!
EMS 916 ok thank you so much
If you don't mind, where at in Indiana are you located?
Northeastern and North Central, IN.
how did you mount the 2 deck lights in the back window
do you live here in Indy? and are you a ham?
Blasting green lights to the back or the sides had to trigger at least couple of confused, distracted drivers to mistake this "warning color" for a green light on a traffic light. Archaic, silly laws need to change.
Cannot agree more. The green to the rear has since been removed for that reason. I was trying to stay with the 360 degree requirement, but real world it makes no sense. Hopefully we can get the legislature to change, its a work in progress.
EMS 916 if anything you'll get them to write more laws with your behavior.
When I seen the title I thought the video was gonna be about lights for ffs in the state of Colorado. Might I also say that next to the state of Illinois Colorado might be the worst state in the county.
Get a Federal Q and slap it on the hood like a hood ornament 😂
That would be freaking hilarious, don't give me any ideas haha
Never seen those at autozone. What Is the name on the package?
Stringer Media I can't recall, they were on clearance. I don't have them on the truck anymore.
You only need a fraction of this Christmas tree and you would be so much better off buying proper LED warning lights like sound off or etc. instead of all of this Pep Boys crap
Yeah, no kidding you are absolutely right. I have since changed this up a lot and invested in some better quality products. Thanks for watching!
Are you a Vol. Firefighter as well ?
Negative, just EMS currently.
I don't see how y'all r expected to help people when u can't run red, siren and run red lights and stop signs. that's just stupid.
I agree. It's very confusing and outdated in our state.
Well hell, out here in Colorado Springs, we have utility and regualr city trucks (I'm city contract employee) that say emergency response on the front fenders. Yet, they can only use yellow/amber lights responding to an emergency like accident (mainly on major high traffic roadways, fire assist (traffic directing, temporary road/lane closer), power outage, intersection light outage or all-way light flash, water main burst etc. When they should be able to use yellow/amber for non-emergency/typical road/utility work, and then red and siren for emergencies. Its just stupid.
Stephen Grenoble that sounds crazy stupid.
EMS 916 It is. Its annoying as hell as well. And the thing with it too, the police and fire wonder why it takes so long for them to get out there. Yet the police chief wont sign the paper work to allow for our trucks to do so. And the other thing too, we have roadways that flood because thats how they are designed for drainage, and so, when the roads flood or even regular roads flood due to poor design or drainage, they have to be blocked off, people call in multiple times impatient as all get out wondering why the barricade truck hasn't shown up yet. Annoys the hell out of me for sure.
Yeah no kidding. Sounds like they should be able to have the same equipment as everyone else. That is pretty dumb..
I don't get why volunteers cant use red lights and sirens. These laws need updated...
Please add an emergency siren.
Sadly not allowed per my state.
Okay. Hopefully some time they would allow you too.
Your methodology is good, however your choice of product is poor. The flashback on your dash is not "a little" flashback, it is ALL flashback.
Good setup overall, however poorly executed. Look into better product next time. Less is more.
Feniex industries has really good lights at decent price. and I'm a Feniex Dealer if your interested in buying anything from me let me know.
you can email me at
Brunells-e-lighting@outlook.com
you can view the different products on Feniex.com and then email me for pricing.
Yeah the flashback pushes the whole setup into amateur hour
If I seen you behind me i'd think you're a guy messing with lights illegally. That's only cause i live in PA and no one runs green around here. Also surprised your state must not have a light limit. PA volunteers can only have 2 blue lights.
In my area the state police couldn't care less about our lighting. As long as you ain't doing anything stupid.
NearlyDirtBiking same here in Illinois volunteers can only have blue or blue/white lights on povs
Oh don't worry he's well on his way to prompting more laws to be written. One bad apple...
TYFYS it looks like shit. Lose all of the cheap unrated garbage quality Chinese crap and get some good quality US made Class 1 rated lights that will be seen in all weather conditions and stuff that is actually rated for emergency use.
You must be fun at parties. It was a good learning experience, why would I waste the money on top tier stuff for me to screw it up? Now that I know what I am doing I only buy top tier. I have completely upfitted 4 of my companies vehicles this year using all the skills acquired from this project. Thanks for your input.
Get a GOPRO and record some of your responses.
You should check out some of my new videos! I started doing exactly that!
Everything about this is illegal asf in Pennsylvania
Funny thing is I don't live in Pennsylvania.
It would be legal if they were in blue.
