FLY TYING-THE HENDRICKSON PARACHUTE-THE DEADLIEST FLIES

  • The parachute style mayfly pattern is a great way to fool a trout looking for the easiest meal. Designed to imitate a low riding emerging mayfly this pattern will entice the reluctant feeder. This pattern is a custom pattern based on my observations during a early Spring Hendrickson hatch. I hope you enjoy.

I use Art Flick’s method for my Hendrickson bodies. Pink fox. I used to have an ash grey cat and whenever she’d shed, I’d collect her fur and blend it in with the light tan and pinkish/red female fox belly fur. Really amazing look.

Thank you, the parachute flies are ones that I have avoided when I tie for our disabled veterans, but your video answered some of my difficulties, and I am going to start tying them again, thank you,

That is the nicest comment that I have ever received. I am just a person like everyone else out there trying to figure it all out. There are some amazing fly tyers out there that perhaps do a better job at it then I do. The parachute can be a little tricky but in the end does so many things right for the fisherman. To start with it is easier to see when fishing for some like me who have a hard time seeing the fly in the water. Second for the trout it looks vulnerable as it rides low in the surface film. I fish the all the time in fact just yesterday 3 times I tried different parachute patterns for some picky fish. The trickery part is the post. What you can do to help yourself out when making the post is ad a drop of sally Hansen finger polish to the base of the Antron before you do your tread wraps to create the post. This will stiffen the base and hold the thread in place. You can also try different post colors such as yellow and orange for times when you might be fishing in a scum line that might make the white post blend in snd get easily lost in the white. Thank you for your service snd your comment.
